Went to Bio Life this morning this is my 7th time donating. Unfortunately I had a reaction with my Blood pressure dropping most likely I didn't eat enough or wasn't hydrated enough. Staff was amazing got me through the nausea and light headedness took me aside to rest and gave me snacks. I wasn't able to finish the donation process I feel bad because I still got paid. I have nothing but good things to say about this Bio Life Location been coming here since January. read more

Follow up to my previous review - Ishmeil (a manager?) responded by requesting that I contact the company in private for the same information I put in the review except with more of my personal information. To me that reveals the lack of transparency on the part of this company. Sketchy outfit. . .i am concerned they are taking advantage people who are desperate for money. kept me waiting 45 mins even though I had an appt, then claimed system was down & if I didn't want to wait I could reschedule my appt as a new donor. when I went online to reschedule the terms for payment to new donors had changed and required making multiple donations within 30 days to receive the previously quoted $650. Also, I thought I might have left my driver's license at the site, but despite multiple attempts to contact them never received a call back. would not recommend them unless you have a whole day to devote to donating and are desperate for the measly $70 you will get for your first donation. read more

The longer I sit here, the longer I wonder if I want to go thru with this. They look like a bunch of students. It does not give you a feel of comfort when you can suggest that. I have seen this phlebotomy tech touch her hair a bunch of times with the gloves that she's treating the patient with. Major no go, cross contamination. Respectfully, I do not want anyone touching me with contaminated gloves. I said that as I waited in a line to get my finger pricked. When I sat down, I asked the young lady if she changed gloves from working with the person in front of me. She tried to convince me why she didn't need to switch gloves between patients. She asked if I wanted her to change them she will which I said yes. They are poking ppls fingers, collecting blood samples, and think glove switching is somehow unnecessary. The wait time is ridiculous, and while you wait, you are hearing music, the employees' life stories. The question of what these people's credentials are won't leave my mind. So, after all that, I wasn't able to even donate because they ask you questions and ask about your whole life. Like if you have fainted anytime in your whole life and if you say yes you have to know why. Who knows why they fainted once 6 years ago? It really a weird place. read more

By my 10th donation, I have established an idea as what to expect and the next steps. When I was reaching the end of my donation, I realized the volume of plasma taken was greater than the indicated amount and any other donation I've done been. After grabbing one of the employees attention, they pulled out a binder to review was the protocol would be. Once a supervisor arrived, it was concluded that the person who set up my labels and bottle did not calibrate the weight and therefore was the cause of the discrepancy. This was not addressed to me but rather because they were talking next to me. It was a very off scenario where I had the impression they didn't care this error took place. They had me sit and be "monitored" for 30 minutes after with no compensation for their mistake. Honestly not sure if I want to come back after such a negative experience. read more

I signed up online to become a Plasma Donor. It was only after waiting at BioLife for over an hour that I learned that I was ineligible due to my recent blood donation. come to the Medford Takeda Biolife center if you love rude staff, poorly slilled phlebotomists and poor care grnerally. I began going to another center after multiple injuries caused by poorly skilled, uncaring staff. Staff is short tempered and quick to blame their own mistakes on the donator. Lines are always very long and wait times exceedingly and unnecessarily extensive- it is unclear why they ask the donator to make an appointment when all that means is that you have a 20 minute window to take the computer questionnaire. Then you get to wait sometimes up to 2 hours or more to even get to the donation floor. Arrive early because you wanted the ability to make your appointment even if there was traffic? Every other center will check you in the few minutes early- they are making thousands off the donation after all- Here, you will be told that they can't check you in early ( and it's not busy) but will give you a smirk and say," Well, if you want to wait..." Yeah, I love being treated like I'm trying to get something over on someone by arriving early - and then get a demonstration that the staff views everyone coming in as nothing better than annoying cattle. read more

The first time I went, my iron was too low, so I was told to come back a different time and try again. They told me I should not have eaten dairy for breakfast as that contributed to my low iron, and I was like they couldn't have told me that before I drove all the way out there? No where on the website or the checklist they sent said not to eat dairy. So the second time I went, I made it past the physical but at the last checkpoint/consultation they said I was unable to donate because 1) I had a sprained ankle and 2) I have an allergy to cold things (cold urticaria) The guy had to google it and then told me my cold allergy made me ineligible. Very unprofessional and disappointing that they let me drive all the way there a SECOND time and spent an hour there just to make a google search last minute telling me I couldn't donate. Like they couldn't tell me that in the survey and physical beforehand? I also had told them about my cold allergy the first time I went and they did not let me know it was a problem. Felt very ripped off and I spent all that time and money on gas for nothing. Feel like I should have at least been compensated for that because this seems like something they could have told me immediately and saved me all that time and money. read more

Waited two hours for my appointment to be told that one of my veins is too small. They recommended drinking water and having a high protein meal an hour before donating! Ive been multiple times but only 3 was i able to donate heart rate has to be in normal ramge few times due to stress it was high unable to donate. You jave as new donor 8 visits which break down to $650 pay out. The staff is really nice and professional. First visit always takes the longest but my 3rd visit i was in and out in under an hour. Weekends and Tuesdays are the busiest. So waits are longer than, expect long lines. Quick pysical due first visit. A questionaire, blood sample, temperature, heart rate, and weight taken every visit. Your account in under your fingerprint and photo for security. Its very professional place. They may look young but they are very good. Doctors offices have collepsed my veins at times. The 3 times I've gone no issues very good and very nice. They are better taking my blood than the hospital staff are. I have no complaints. I was nervious my first visit not knowing what to expect staff checked on me exspecially as a new donor often. First visit expect about 2.5 hour visit. Each visit after is abour and hour to an hour and a half depending on how busy it is. read more

I've been coming here since a week after it opened. The first visit was indeed lengthy but worth it. Physical and screenings all needed. I did drive the nurse nuts because she had to document my tattoos in detail.... I have almost 30 of them!! Every time I go there, I'm greeted with smiles, and everyone knowing my name! Super professional, UBER friendly, I actually feel that these people enjoy their jobs and their patients... I'm not dropping names because I'd feel badly if I missed anyone. New to BioLife and it seems like an organized business. The employees are very helpful and friendly. The compensation seems fair.

It's not the people. It's your scheduling system making it a 3 hour excursion. The people are awesome. But after your in line and they keep putting ppl in front of you it's getting insanely too long for this. I can't donate if we need 4 hours blocked off my day. I understand you want as much plasmas as possible but this scheduling has a serious affect on ppl. A couple hours should be enough. I had to leave today. Not to mention your scan in thing never let's me scan out...also adding more time. You need to rethink things. read more

Sadly, they are going downhill fast. They supposedly have faster machines, but the employees get slower and less attentive by the day. Checking in is a 30-45 minute project. Employees talk WAY too much among themselves. Checking the donors in is not a priority. When you finish the screening, they no longer give you a card. It's a line no matter what! The employees get more robotic and less personable with every visit. I never see a manager supervising the floor. They have to shape up. read more

I have never had a bad experience coming to the site in Medford. The wait can be a bit long, but the staff that I have met are so friendly and try to move things along as fast as they can. I like that I can read a book and relax all while helping people in need of life-saving plasma. And the monetary compensation is great also! read more

Staff aren't trained in proper measurement of vitals. Taking resting heart rate perched on a high stool, then if it's too high, instructing person to get down, walk across the building to the waiting room and sit for five minutes, then walk back and get back on the stool and immediately retest. Resting heart rate is taken with back and feet fully supported, ideally lying down, and after having been relaxed in that position for at least 5 minutes. If it is not reading in resting range, protocol is to stay in that position and wait until the 15-minute mark and retake, NOT get back up and walk around so it isn't a resting rate! Tech stated that everyone's has been reading too high today. Yes, you aren't going to get resting heart rates when you're measuring people in the context of moderate activity. If the staff aren't properly trained in basic middle-school science concepts, this concerns me for what else is not being done safely or properly. read more

Some things I've noticed in my time donating. The facility is clean and tidy. They ensure that the clients are well-informed and comfortable with the donation process. The phlebotomists are very good at what they do. All the staff are very nice people who could answer any questions I had. I feel they care about the clients. Long process to check identity and eligibility prior to the first donation (2 hours for me on a Saturday). No prior communication about the duration of that process and the fact that they can just send you home without donation and without any payment for the two hours identity/eligibility check, which includes also taking blood. Rude tone of one of the nurses who basically called me a liar for not remembering where a tiny scar on my belly came from that I was not even aware it existed. It could have been from a mole taken out 40 years ago - I don't recall. Rude tone. most medical or check-in personnel does not wear masks. Many donors are there in the same open space at the same time - donors are not required to wear masks. The company lectures about keeping the donation recipients healthy - I fully agree, but they do not seem to care about keeping the donors healthy. read more

This center is full of kind and caring staff who want you to be comfortable while helping others. I have never had a bad experience while coming here. They have plenty of appointments available throughout the day that can accommodate many different schedules. The staff here always seem happy and never display bad attitudes. Truthfully, do not even do it to yourself. I was there the first day for 6 hours!!!! I didn't complain and made the best of it, only for the nurse to say to me they are giving snacks so people stay off their ass. Pretty unprofessional but I laughed. After that went back for donation, didn't work out and I was deferred, totally fine. They told me come back in two days only for the same thing to happen and for someone else to tell me I should've waited longer!! Still, I was patient with the lack of communication and the different answers you get from the staff. Ok, I'm still fine and patient with all of this. I waited and went back again and expected me to wait another 3 plus hours for a physical. Meanwhile I was there for 40 minutes before they even told me. Basically they were like oh well sorry!!! I've been that that center total about 9 hours, without compensation, and expected to wait another 3 today (that would've been 12 hours) and they keep telling me oh just reschedule. What?!?!?! Not one person cares and it is really really sad. I wasn't going to come back the last time and they said please don't give up, I liked them and figured I would try again, and the time I qualify they are like oh sorry and expect me to be there for hours. I wouldn't have had an issue with it if it was communicated. When You're a new donor it is the responsibility, especially of the nurses, to remind you every-time you come in. The point is there is NO communication and you bring it to someone's attention and their response is basically "oh well". This place could've had a lot of potential. Just be aware of the wait times and lack of communication so make sure you know what you need to do and don't rely on them telling you. I wish I could give negative stars. The homophobia I just experienced from one of the "nurses" was unmatched. I'll spare the specifics because there's enough hate already in the world. I went to BioLife today thinking I'd avoid the homophobia of the Red Cross. It's 2022, I'm beyond disappointed and deeply hurt by how I was treated. Right after my appointment I tried to call in a complaint, and the person on the other end told me I should just leave a "physical description" of the woman. Here is my description: She was one of the people in a black coat, glasses, Karen haircut with darker colored bangs, and a southern accent. I woke up this morning thinking that I'd get the chance to save some lives. What I was not expecting to be harassed about my sexuality by a company that prides itself on professionalism. I truly do not think anyone working there is a registered nurse. Earlier in my appointment two different people came to check the quality of my veins, and neither of them knew where to find my veins. When I told them I was light headed from the probing they told me it was because I didn't eat a good enough lunch. I was then told that because I didn't eat a good enough lunch that I was forever banned from donating plasma through them. Keep in mind, this is right after they took all my personal information, including finger prints and a blood sample. This whole place is an absolute scam. I would not be surprised they've already stolen my identity. There is zero privacy for anything. I heard at least six different social security numbers being repeated out loud and saw two other people passing out, just out in the open. To top it all off, after they wasted my time, I was NOT financially compensated for my time read more
