Inconsistent, unclear, and utterly disappointing. I've donated here before, but my experiences have repeatedly ended with wasted time and negative outcomes. This most recent visit felt like a complete bait-and-switch. I walked in, went to the computer, and was told I couldn't donate today. The front desk told me I needed to do a 'protein test.' I waited about 20 minutes, and the phlebotomist then told me I would be donating and would be getting paid today, and my hopes were up. But then I was told later that I was only giving blood for the test and I'd have to wait up to 10 days before I can donate--and I didn't get paid today. The staff gave conflicting information, and I left feeling like my time wasn't handled fairly. Communication and conduct were also mishandled. While a new employee was shadowing the phlebotomist, I made a completely PG comment about her culture (Muslim) and that America is the land of opportunity. Another staff member later approached me and claimed I was being inappropriate and made people uncomfortable--but the inconsistency is that a person next to me used profanity and was not called out. The way I was singled out felt unfair and poorly handled. It also isn't the first time this location has turned me away. The previous visit I was turned away essentially for being on time--specifically because I was '1 minute late' even though I arrived at my scheduled time. And on another donation attempt, my left arm was bruised and it's still showing lingering discoloration/yellowing from the earlier issue. Overall, they had unclear policies, conflicting staff messaging, inconsistent handling of behavior, and a negative physical impact on me. 3 hours is a fast day at the Bethel BioLife. They have too many people not getting people through the line and not honest enough people actually moving the line. Very few employees give an optimistic aura. The ones who care really do care but sadly, they never stick around and are few and far between. Update: A week after my initial review and my total time in the building for a routine day was almost 5 hours. Walked in 6:00P, walked out 10:40PM! Absolutely absurd! It went fine for me .. no complaints :) tip: the place is cold and after ur blood is done pumping in machine , you'll feel super super cold because of the saline going back into body! So take a small blanky or sweater etc First timer today. Walked in , worker said he'll be right with me and he was . Checked in, waited in waiting room(15min) or so not bad since not a lot are working but it ran smoothly . They checked my vitals, logged in fingerprint to use to agree to things on computer , poked my finger for blood sample to test if it's good to go.. then it's time to answer 100 questions on a computer .. then back to waiting room .. was called in shortly after by nurse .. she went over questions I accidentally answered wrong lol I was confused on answering the computer questions so read carefully . . You'll be asked description of tattooes/location and year u got them .. also with piercings . Cannot leave any out or else you'll be disqualified.. Nurse will do a quick physical on your body.. then go over some details like who referred you etc .. after you'll be taken to the line to wait for a bed . You'll only be picked once . They'll take a blood sample , then then hook u up to the computer to start. It's such a wierd feeling! Super nervous the whole time . You'll feel your lips wierd also like light weight or idk how to explain , was just wierd . That'll go away after a few minutes . I ran outside to swap shoes with someone and come back, only to be disqualified for the day. I drove an hour to donate, and they sent me home over a minor rule. I am filing this complaint against BioLife Plasma Services after two extremely negative and unsafe experiences at one of their donation centers. On my first visit, I was kept waiting for four full hours before being taken back. After the donation process was finished, staff left me connected to the machine for an additional 30 minutes with no explanation or assistance. My second visit was worse. The staff member inserted the needle far too deeply, causing a severe and painful bruise that lasted for days. The machine then stopped three separate times and had to be reset multiple times. After the procedure was finally complete, I was again left stuck on the machine for another 30 minutes while staff stood around talking about their weekends and fumbling with equipment, showing no concern for my situation. The center appears severely understaffed, and the employees present seemed untrained and completely uninterested in donor comfort or safety. After these experiences, I received a promotional offer for $150. When I attempted to redeem it, I was told I was ineligible. It is clear that BioLife sends out these unclaimable offers regularly to lure donors back in, which feels deceptive and misleading. These incidents have left me concerned about the safety and quality of care at BioLife. Improper needle insertion, repeated equipment failures, long periods of being left unattended while connected to machines, and untrained staff are serious issues. Went a couple of times. First time I was there for 4 hours which was more understandable because I was a first time donor at this location. Second time going, I waited in line for almost 2.5 hours, got sat then waited another 30 minutes just to get stuck wrong. Not sure why they have you set an appointment when there's no rhyme or reason to how long be there waiting to be sat. Machine couldn't draw from my arm and when I told someone about it, they turned the pressure up (not sure what that means) and when I mentioned it hurting, they told me to wait a minute and I got a hematoma. They unhooked me and made sure I was okay to leave and I still got my donation pay for that day. It's been 2 weeks and my arm looks absolutely terrible and is finally starting to feel better. This location is wildly understaffed and when they're in a hurry, you might get hurt. Plan for a huge chunk of your day to be gone and be careful. The staff is super nice and that's all well and good but there's not enough employees for the amount of people there to donate making this incredibly unsafe. read more

I had a very bad experience at Bioplazma Center. The staff member named Lilith was extremely rude she even asked me if I wanted to sit on someone's lap to donate plasma, which was completely unprofessional. I reported this to her manager, but he didn't seem to care at all. I'm here to donate plasma, not to be disrespected. On top of that, even if you have an appointment at 10 a.m., expect to wait 2-3 hours before they finish. I definitely do not recommend this place. read more

Horrible Donation Center takes 3 hours to complete the donation process every time and I come around 9am. They are slow and unprofessional, have elderly people standing in line for HOURs while they stand aro and converse. New staff and management needed urgently this place is a mess. They should say when signing up that the first visit will be 4 hours. Some of the staff seem confused, and there was a glitch in the system which made it even worse. The set up isn't good, no one answers the phone. You can't confirm an appointment unless online. When you consider how long you have to wait compared to pay its practically minimum wage. There is no way to contact them and ask how busy they were that day to see how long of a wait there is. read more

While donating I was asked by (then pressured) by one of the plasma center technicians, (Hayley) to use a arm for donation I expressed discomfort in using. The result was an additional, and unwanted puncture site that could have been avoided if the donors request relating to their own body took precedent over what made staff's job less taxing. While it is understandable that alternate veins are needed at times to complete donations successfully, it is something entirely different to pressure a donor into doing so solely to avoid a minimal amount of effort. read more

this was my first time donating plasma and it went very well! My appointment was 2-3 hours long because i am a new donor but it was fairly quick. the staff is extremely nice and helpful answering questions! Haley helped me with my donation and she was so awesome!! Everything is nice and clean as well as the bathrooms. Will come back for my next donations read more

To go to a plasma center and they tell you the initial visit will be 2-5 hours is ridiculous. People would donate more if you don't take all day to do that. I had a license and social security card and a bill with my address on it, it was going to work, but I would have to bring one that was 2 months new, mine was 4 months. I even brought a passport. Address wasn't current on my license( people move). Don't make it hard for people to donate. I will go to CSL. They don't pay as well, but at least you're not there initially, for a possible 5 hour appt. I called, there initial appt is 1-2 hours. read more

I have been a donor at biolife for 2 years, & in the past year the facility in Columbus has become more & more dysfunctional. The have turned over their phlebotomist staff 3 times since i have started donating with them. They are hard to reach via the phone for questions with appointments or medical concerns. One of the center managers Taylor is antagonistic, argumentative, & demeaning while speaking to donors. The wait times for donating have gone up consistently in the last year. If plan to donate as a new donor its a good 4-to-5-hour process. Returning donors can expect a 2.5 hour process. Often waiting in line for an hour for pre screeening & another 30 minute to be sat in a bed & another 30 waiting for veinous puncture. They pay well and the faciality is clean. That is the best i can say. Warning beware of Taylor. read more

this location is insanely understaffed. not their fault, but with everything included, the money is not worth it. any time i go in, its a gamble over if i will get one of the few people that actually know how to put a needle in correctly. it would be different if it was anatomical, but a certain two people every single time mess it up to the point i am in immense pain. today they completely missed my entire vein and moved the needle around inside my arm and had to call another person over to help. i really tried to be patient with the staff and this location especially with the hours and hours of waiting but besides the new donor bonus, this is probably the worst location, and a lot of the staff is neither hospitable nor consistent. read more

NEVER answered a phone call. NEVER returned a voicemail. So much waiting. Pro: you get right to the electronic questionaire, then WAIT for the mini exam, then WAIT WAIT WAIT (while standing still!!!) so damn long to be put on a bed, then WAIT WAIT WAIT so damn long to be stuck. But wait, when its done you WAIT WAIT WAIT for them to remove the needle. Obviously, this place is in business to get plasma donations, but they dont act like they realize that ONE more staff at (probably less than $20/hr would make the place run SO much faster and would make people come in, rather than deter them. The app works well, can schedule, but cant cancel. The phlebotomists have been good with the sticks. Financially, only worth being new or returning after a while: consistent donations dont pay enough. read more

This BioLife on Bethel Rd is so poorly managed, in that it is always understaffed. Typically only 1 screener and the beds are never half filled as they are understaffed, there as well. You would think their scheduling system would help but right now there are 8 waiting to be screened and another 8 waiting for a bed. Last week, I went to a "Real" BioLife, where there were 8 screeners and most of the beds were being used. On top of that, they accepted walkins. read more

this place is going down hill very fast over booked and under staffed. What once had good customer service is now all about making as much as they can making extremely long wait times waiting to sign in another wait for computer questions wait again to check vitals another wait for a bed wait again to get started and another long wait when finshed to get unhooked so you can finally leave. what once took around a hour (takes me 40 min. to give plasma) now takes over 2 hours and physicians are no longer personable always wanting to leave and have no time to help. they fill an area then cut the physician leaving nobody to unhook or help when machines have problems. read more
