I drove an hour from Cleveland after work because I saw an ad online. They don't take walk ins even though online it says they do. First time donors at this location can take up to 3 hours, registration has to be done online. And unfortunately because of the business of this location no one was able to answer the phone to tell me any of this before I got here. Super disappointed and frustrated. If I could afford to waste this much gas on a trip, I wouldn't need to donate plasma. Please update your systems to clearly reflect all pertinent information online. I have donated there 3 times. All of the employees are very friendly and will answer any questions you have and tell you what to do if you're unsure. My first time donating I was pretty nervous and the nurses there helped to assure me that the process was safe and walked me through it. It went great! I will keep going back to this location as, although the wait times can be long, they are trying their best with the staff they have. rude young lady staff member at counter. Very unfriendly. Drove my son to donate. I asked if I could stand in line to keep him company and was told I am not allowed in the building unless I am donating in to go sit in my car. First time I brought him up I stood in line with him and got all kinds of dirty looks from the staff. He has some anxiety about donating so I stayed with him to keep him company. Very rude on friendly staff member. Try to call and they did not answer the phone as I would like to headquarters number to call about their policy. read more

You will never get to enjoy the coupon amounts because the ladies in the back WILL bruise your arm and then you cant come back to donate again until the bruise is gone. Today my bf went in to donate with me...I watched as the ladybin the back stuck him incorrectly in the arm causing him to go ghost white. When he told it it hurt and to take the needle out she justbtwisted the needle more creating a hematoma. Needless to say he only got $20 instead of the $90 bc he refused to let her stick the other arm. This is my first time doing this. They were very professional, but also personable, during the whole process. I would say I was there a total of three hours, only because the first visit you have to go through a lengthy questionnaire, as well as a quick physical (they prick your finger to check protein and iron levels). The actual time spent from getting the needle in your arm to the time they took it out was about 45 minutes. Afterwards, they have you sit down for about 10 to 15 minutes to make sure you aren't feeling light headed or dizzy (which I wasn't). I got my prepaid card which I can use pretty much like a regular debit card. The only drawback is that it can't be used for getting gas at the pump, you have to go inside. No biggie. They are running a promotion where you get $900 after 8 donations and it has to be within a 45 day period. You can donate maximum 2 times a week and the donations have to be at least 2 days apart. So if you donate on a Monday, then the earliest you can donate again would be that Wednesday. I'm gonna do the first 8 donations and see how I feel about it. I don't know how much it pays after the initial 8, I'll ask next time I go in. read more

With all due respect. I sat there for 25 minutes in the area to have plasma drawn before anyone came over. I know patience is a virtue but seriously. 3 ladies 2 of them busting ass. One.... Well not so much she was stuck in zombie slowness. Was very frustrating. I watched the other 2 girls hook up 3 patients to this girl's one. With people waiting lengthy times to be connected and disconnected. Her sense of urgency was 0 as the other 2 girls raced around apologizing for the delays. A nurse from up front just came back to help the area. If this person with no sense of urgency would speed up just a smidge maybe the other girls wouldn't have to be working double time. read more

Absolutely atrocious service. Not only are more than half the people unable to find and hit clients' veins, but it seems they actively seek to defer clients. I was only able to donate 4 times before being unfairly deferred due to their incompetence (see photos) after my 5th donation I've effectively been banned from the facility due to a reaction to the process that was not explained to me how it occurs or how it can be prevented in the future until after I was permanently deferred. I love the coupons here and they staff is very friendly, but they are a dont ask dont tell type of organization. If your unsure of how the pay out works and your not sure if your coupons are registered properly. NO ONE WILL TELL YOU. Also its possible to donate 3 times for $20 each and the staff is UNAUTHORIZED to fix your money issue. Im normally very nervous for my vitals and have forgot to give them a coupon code a few times. Becarful, because once they get your plasma they're pushing you out the door. And theres nothing you can do but feel used and abused. I love donating plasma to help save lives. I have been going to Biolife on and off for three years. I have gone through it all. Bad sticks, long lines, electricity going out due to storms, being rejected because of high blood pressure or low iron. Yes a lot of it is inconvenient, however it is all done in order for you to stay safe. People need to realize that the technicians are sticking people with different kinds of veins. Veins that are thin, thick, crooked, have dips, etc. veins are like fingerprints, unique to each of us. How you bruise is not under their control. There are bad sticks but you need to chalk it up to human error. People complain too much about things that are not totally under other peoples control. Look at the positive instead of the negative. Take into consideration that you are providing a service and that you're being compensated for. Remember they do the best they can. read more

Great way to help those in need and get some extra cash for yourself in the process. I have been donating fairly regularly at the Mentor facility for about a year. The staff here are great. Everyone follows their protocol. Very safe. Very clean. No issues. Some staffers move a bit slower than others but, you have that everywhere. The process can be tedious at times. If you need to get in and out as quickly as possible - avoid Tuesday afternoon, evening..it is always the worst day ..so busy..I try not to go on that day. Eat before you donate. I began in November 2017 and have to say I a fan of the facility and the staff here in Mentor. Each staff member I have worked with takes the time to acknowledge me as an individual. Well let just say that my last two visits prior to today's did not go well. At the time I asked to speak to a supervisor and I provided some honest feedback. I left feeling hopeful that I was being listened too. After about three weeks I decided to give them a second chance, was that a mistake. None of my feed back was passed on to center management. The staff is over worked and try to rush everything, compromising safety. The wait times are horrendous, I had a 6:10 pm appointment. I didn't get to a bed to start my donation until 8:10. I did it get out of the center until after 9. What makes anyone think that a two hour wait is acceptable. read more

I used to donate here in 2013 and wanted to return. I arrived on saturday along with my brother who is also a new donor. We were informed there were no appointments available and were advised to schedule them online. While we were waiting one of the nurses, Erica had located my old file and asked to speak with me in private. When I previously donated I was taking a medication that I no longer take. She told me that I would need a doctor's note confirming I no longer took this medication. She left the room to presumably double check with a supervisor. She returned a short time later and relayed that I did NOT need a doctor's note after all and would be free to donate. Again I was advised to schedule an appointment online. Fast forward to today. I logged into the website and when I went to schedule a pop up appeared mentioning that I would have to call to set up the appointment. I called and spoke with the receptionist who set my appointment for 1pm today. I arrived and after checking in with the front desk was shown to the waiting area. After a short time a nurse appeared who brought me into a back room. I was then informed that I would need a doctor's note after all. Really biolife? First Erica blatantly gave me false information on saturday. Then when I called and spoke to the receptionist earlier today nothing was mentioned about needing the note. You waited until I took time out of my day to come in to let me know I would need that doctor's note. Do you have any clue how unprofessional this is? I know honestly you don't care. I'm writing this review to let the American public know just how shitty you are. People, avoid this place. They will gladly disrespect your time to cover for their own incompetence. There are other plasma donation places, such as Biotest, where for one they pay you more ($60 for first donation and $70 for second), and also actually know what they are doing and will not jerk you around. read more

I had to shake my head at a lot of the other "issues" yelpers reviewed about, they're pretty ignorant when it comes to the systems in place. Blood and plasma is a life saving tool, these workers take what they do very seriously and handle all matters with utmost caution. Very respectable. They have rules that they follow to make sure everyone is safe and healthy. Yes, sometimes the systems are a bit tedious or inconvenient. Yes, sometimes I get miffed if I get turned away due to my iron being too low (1% low has happened to me as well as another yelper stated). But in the grand scheme of things, do I really want a receiver to get plasma that was below standard and in the end cause them harm (or whatever else the consequence may be)? They follow their systems because although it is profitable, it's a life saving business, and they have no room to error. It's one of the best centers in Northeast Ohio. Very clean and organized. You scan in, answer your questions, check your blood work levels, go to the back and get hooked up quickly, donate, unhooked, leave. I'm in and out under 50 minutes almost every time. Some of the things other yelpers complained about could have been answered or prevented if they'd just read the information on the website or called. They list very plainly that you need a physical on your first visit, which makes sense. And they also provide reasons as to why they can't unfortunately accept your donation on the site. Be smart and look into things. They can't hold your hand through the entire process. Once I move to the Westside, I don't think I'll try and donate anywhere else. I don't think I could make it through the other places after I've been spoiled with the level of professionalism provided here. You might have a yucky visit here or there due to every day, out-of-control circumstances. But over-all they're polite, happy, clean, and wonderful to work with. Anybody who says otherwise doesn't have a clue how businesses operate. Oh, and the waiting area is for donors to sit in who are feeling light headed. My BioDeath Plasma story: I made an appointment online and proceeded to show up for my "donation". Signed in and the computer said see front desk! I went to the front desk and they said oh we are sorry you need a new physical you will have to re-schedule. (okay, I drive all way over lose time and gas money waited in line for a 1/2 hour?). Three trips to donate - ! I schedule my physical and pass and go back to "donate" (donate really - this is a business where they buy plasma) first donation $20 then second is $50. The lady that attempted to take my plasma missed and the second lady fished in my arm till she hit a nerve but drew blood. She said sorry bad bruise and blood under your skin. I left and scheduled for two days later. I was paid $20 and thought well I might as well go back for my $50 and finish the process. Upon donating a second time I only received $20 (not $50) because they screwed up the first time and it was not a "full donation". Beware of this place! They are not fair and the managers are not polite. I was put on hold for twenty minutes (they thought I would hang up) Then they said sorry your first donation was not full so we can not pay the full $50 for your second donation. I explained I would write about this dis-service and she said sorry it is confusing but that is policy! My policy is - I will not be back! read more

First let me say the staff and cleanliness I would give a 5 star, however there procedures need work. First you go in to register if you haven't eaten prior to your visit they send you out to get something to eat then they put you through the process. Let me say they would save there time and yours if they post the facts if you have any prior surgery's you may not be eligible. I went through 3/4 of the process then found out I was not eligible because of a fusion surgery in my neck they could of saved my time,money for lunch and there time and money had I known before I went in. I was taking my gf to go donate and went to the little waiting area that my gf said was okay to wait in. Not even one minute goes by and a lady tells me i can not wait there. She gives me no reason at first and looks at my pants. Im wearing teenage mutant ninja turtle pjs. I ask why i cant wait for my gf to donate and she says privacy reasons. The room is out of view of any other portion of the facility. I left like a gentleman without a fuss. 2 minutes after going to my car my gf comes out and tells me they said she cant donate cause her iron levels were one percent off but she wouldn't show my gf the test results. 2 peoples time wasted cause they employess their have a sense of self justice and do not like pajama pants... read more

This place makes you wait forever to do anything, my first "appointment" took over 3 hours with most of it being just sitting around waiting. Finally they told me I wasn't able to donate because I was in the mental hospital a year ago. My boyfriend still donated but they couldn't even get blood the first time. The second time he went in he waited 20 minutes then checked in, he was the last in line at the time and they told him after standing there for almost a half hour he had to wait because they needed to go on break. I am a blood donor and I was hoping to be a plasma donor. Unfortunately, due to strict FDA regulations regarding plasma donation, I could not. Biolife Plasma requires your medical history from your primary care physician. If there are errors in it and if these errors are show stoppers, then they will deny you. In my case, there was erroneous information in my medical record that prevented me from donating plasma. Even after trying to clear it up with my PCP twice, Biolife Plasma will not accept a "corrected" third attempt from my doctor (due to their Epic medical system not being updated from MyChart). As a result, I am now in there permanent rejection status. Yes, there is an overwhelming need for plasma. However, Biolife is a stickler for its rules and will reject you if they find a reason for it....no exceptions. I highly recommend getting a copy of your medical report before going to Biolife Plasma and look for any misdiagnosis or incorrect information that will prevent you from donating plasma. read more
