I went…read morethere Thursday at about 6:40-6:45 and their security guard was outside telling people that they were closed "they were short staffed" because a staff member had a death in the family and that they had to get people out of there all day. I look inside, there were 8-10 people in line and they were still taking plasma. Not to be disrespectful or callous but the whole thing reeked of bullshit. I understand that things could happen but if it was that bad, why not just send out an email, text, or message through the app and shutdown earlier rather than just keep having a normal business day and then sending security out and writing a note to close 15-20 minutes early when you can't just shutdown and leave anyway? It's a gamble coming there because if they want to mail it in, you basically wasted your time and travel. They don't let you fill out your intake early anymore beyond 30 minutes and you often have to redo it because the wait is so long. According to their own rules, if you're in before closing and you pass your screening, you'll be seen. It's just on you to complete the donation. You also have to watch some of those screeners because they can bullshit you too and defer you just to get you out because they want to chill. You basically have to write off 3-4 hours minimum to donate. Besides the chronic short staffing, you have to factor in employee breaks and people cutting line. When it comes to line cutting, you have to be aware at all times because people will literally walk in and not only try to get in front of you but will cut the entire line. People will also let randoms with sob stories cut or reserve spots for their friends. Waiting for the place to open is even worse since you're outside and line cutting and fighting is even worse then. The employees, management, and security don't pay attention and won't do shit when you try talking to them but they'll throw you and whoever's starting shit out if you stand up for yourself. Hell, I've seen them call the police to throw somebody out who complained out loud when the employees were watching TV instead of sticking donors. There's also been cases before where they'll send security out to try and keep people from coming in well before closing with some crazy excuse but they're still up and running. Another tactic they do is to offer an express pass to come back tomorrow when they're in the mood to fuck off. The problem with that is they don't allow them to be used after 5PM and it only applies to the screening line instead of the full visit like Octapharma designed. Contacting corporate is useless since the communication is redirected to them rather than someone with oversight. They basically get to run themselves.

My neighbor suggested I try BioLife, so I went to this location on Richmond Avenue. There was only one person at the Check-In counter so I had to wait 20 minutes. Once I checked in, which took 5 minutes, I waited another 5 minutes before seeing the first screening unit. The screening took about 5 minutes. I then waited for 10 minutes to visit with a nurse for a physical exam. The exam lasted only 5 minutes. The nurse told me I was not eligible to donate because I had a pacemaker. That's odd. I've been donating for years with a pacemaker without a single problem. I asked the nurse why the disqualification wasn't posted on their website. The nurse didn't apologize. So, I wasted $45 on Uber and 1 hour of waiting in lines just to be denied. This place was a zoo. They were short staffed which caused very long lines. I only met one staffer who was pleasant, the rest appeared to be rushed and unconcerned. One nurse appeared to be frantic while trying to move customers along. After witnessing all of this, I can't imagine why anyone would go here except those who were hard pressed to get some money. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll continue to donate for free at Gulf Coast Blood Centers where I'm surrounded by pleasant staff and get free snacks, including Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.

I went here with a friend for a couples massage during a midweek spa visit, thinking it would be a…read morerelaxing experience since it was not very busy. I had actually been here a few years ago and remembered it being decent, which is why I suggested it. Unfortunately, this visit was one of the worst massage experiences I have ever had. Before the appointment, we both clearly noted that we wanted strong pressure and listed the areas that needed attention. I specifically mentioned knots in my back and neck, and my friend noted pain and tension in her shoulders and upper back. Despite that, there was almost no pressure during either of our massages. I even asked during the session for more pressure, but I was ignored. The entire experience was uncomfortable. During the hot compress and hot stone portion, one of the therapists kept placing the hot stones directly on the massage bed near me. Because of that, I kept accidentally touching them during the massage, and they were hot enough to burn me. More than once I reacted because it hurt. My friend even asked me if I was okay because she could hear me reacting. At first she thought maybe it was from too much pressure, but I told her it was actually because the hot stones kept burning me where they had been left on the bed. The therapist was aware this was happening and still did not move them or put them somewhere safer. That was not only uncomfortable, it felt careless and unsafe. When it came time for the actual massage, very little oil was used, to the point that it felt rough and uncomfortable on the skin. I asked for more oil more than once and again was ignored. Since it was supposed to be a quiet and relaxing environment, I did not want to make a scene, and I assumed maybe my friend was having a better experience, so I tried to get through it. Afterward, my friend immediately said she also had a bad experience. She mentioned that she usually relaxes enough to fall asleep during massages, but this time she could not because it was so uncomfortable. She also said she barely felt like she received a real massage and that her problem areas were not addressed at all. We both had very specific tension points, and neither of us felt that those areas were worked on in any meaningful way. What made the situation worse was how it was handled at the front desk and by the manager. When I politely explained that neither of us had a good experience, the first response I got was asking whether I was paying for both services together or separately. There was no acknowledgment of the complaint itself. When I asked if there was a manager or owner I could speak with, one of the front desk staff walked away without explaining what was happening, while the other just continued processing payment. When the manager finally came out, her response was dismissive and defensive. Instead of listening, she basically implied that even though I requested strong pressure, the therapist may not have been able to provide it because of my body size and because the therapist was smaller. That was inappropriate and unprofessional. If that was truly the issue, it should have been communicated beforehand instead of giving me a poor service and then explaining it away afterward. I also specifically mentioned the issue with the hot stones burning me and being left on the bed, and that concern was completely ignored as well. That was one of the most upsetting parts of the experience because it was a legitimate safety issue, not just a matter of preference. I also got the impression that the therapists were inexperienced. The manager's attitude only made things worse. She kept focusing on the payment and mentioned that she could have given 10% off, as though that addressed the actual problem. I was never refusing to pay. I simply wanted the business to acknowledge that the service was poor and handle the complaint professionally. Even the refund and recharge process for the discount turned into an awkward and unnecessary ordeal. On top of that, the manager suggested bringing the therapist out to question things directly, which felt confrontational and uncomfortable, especially since we were calm and respectful the entire time. Overall, the massage itself was poor, but the customer service afterward was what really guaranteed I will not return. There are too many good massage places in Houston to spend money somewhere that provides such an uncomfortable experience and then responds with attitude instead of accountability. I would not recommend this place.

As other yelpers indicate, you are greeted with tea on your way in and I chose a mimosa on the way out. Then, they give you slippers to walk from the lobby to your room. Mine were way too large and kept coming off down the hallway. The massage I chose lasted 1 hour and the best part of course was when they walk on you since they get a little deeper that way. It's just a completely different feeling than a masseuse using their hands. Overall, customer service was excellent throughout the entire visit from all employees. The interior appeared to be fairly clean as well, as this is a legit massage place.
