I sincerely think they are understaffed and the amount of patients that need care is greater than the care they can give. I can honestly say while I was there everyone was actively working and providing care. The unfortunate thing is because of the structure of the building there were tons of patients just in stretchers in the hallway , tons in the waiting room, it was just beyond packed. Security was super helpful with visitors finding patients. Due to the overcrowding atmosphere it made it uncomfortable for patients. Especially about discussing medical concerns in the hallway. I would say if you can wait and want care it's the place to go, but if you need immediate assistance I would go elsewhere. The cafe had a great selection of food.

Alexander was very dismissive when we let him know that we were upset for waiting nine hours for a 10 second conversation. literally waited 2 1/2 hours for him to come down and say you're all set. This is something he could've said to the registered nurse and she could've told us 2 1/2 hours previously. There is a huge amount of time, wasted on basically lack of communication . when we were ready to check out at 4 AM, the nurse that we were trying to get to check us out said she had other priorities and to be honest it seemed like she was creating things to do so she didn't have to take care of us right away. Her name tag was also conveniently flipped as she was giving us a very slightly snarky attitude. I understand an emergency room is an emergency room as we were reminded multiple times basically to tell us we shouldn't feel the way that we do. But at the end of the day you're still charging insurance and co-pays so you're still making money. There should still be some sort of customer service. in any situation, if given a choice. I would not choose umass

However, after yesterday's appointment (simple physical) we will not be returning. The new doctor made our son cry on the first visit. It seemed as though she hadn't even looked at his info and made some very direct comments in front of him. He felt very uncomfortable and worried after a number of statements she made. I was sitting right there and had to intervene and explain some things that should have been common sense. To her credit, she did backtrack a little after I shared a few things she should have been aware of. Having said that, what was most disappointing and concerning was that she also made her comments before fully examining him. Once she finally did that, she backtracked even more. Bottom line is she made assumptions before even doing the examination and made a child very upset. She also wanted him to get an x-ray, but told us it couldn't be done at the radiology lab that was adjacent to pediatrics.. Thankfully, a very nice women at the lab's front desk let us know that it could. Overall, just a disappointing experience, and we will now be finding a new pediatrician. One final note: the lab next store had great staff/nurses/personnel. They were personable, welcoming and professional. Definitely didn't have that same feeling earlier in the morning.
