It was just a minutes drive from downtown and a ten minute walk. Close to several Lighthouses that you can explore. We enjoyed the Hot Tub, Pool and the Breakfast they served. Check out the yogurt station with a variety of granola options. Only downside was inside the room there was a part of the floor that was peeling right in the walkway. Other than that things were great inside the room. New, fresh and clean. All that you could ask for in a hotel.

Later I found out they contacted my employer without telling me, supposedly to fix a "reservation issue" that I never created. That's a serious breach of trust. I was never asked, never informed, and their response was full of excuses instead of accountability. They tried to frame it like they were doing me a favor but in reality, they created a problem and dragged my employer into it without my consent. If you're staying here through a corporate program, be aware they'll make decisions behind your back and then justify it later however they see fit. I won't be staying here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values privacy or professionalism.

The rooms are thoroughly clean and a thorough amount of towels and toiletries were provided (more than some top of the line motels/hotels!). Despite looking dated, the ac worked better than most expensive hotels I've stayed at. All in all, great bang for your buck. PS. I love the cats

The lighting in the room was a little bit older, but it served its purpose. The furnishings were also a little bit worn in. I suspect the people that typically stay here don't have an issue with such things, but you could tell the items in the room were all a little bit long in the tooth. Check-in went more or less OK, although the staff seemed a bit bewildered and disorganized. It was cute when we were handed actual keys. Such a novelty to have actual keys instead of key cards in this day and age. We had to use their little dropbox to turn the keys in when we left early the following morning. This was fine of course but I would've appreciated being told about it in advance. On balance I don't think this would be my first choice for a stay again in the future.

Other guests at that hotel made for a miserable night, smoking and drinking into the wee hours outside their room directly below us. Complete with a drunken brawl at one point. I also had an issue getting a hold of staff in the morning when I accidentally left something behind when we left. We'd left the key in the room, as instructed. Fortunately, I was able to retrieve it because we forgot to close the door all the way; there no one in the office until 9 am and calls to both numbers posted for help before then weren't answered. I would have told the owners myself if I could have.

The price was right though. On a holiday weekend we payed around $70 a night (compared to $150 in Mack City). No coffee maker, no shampoo, the television had cable but was a very old tv that had lines through it. The AC worked great and the bed was comfortable. The place was apparently booked up over Labor Day, yet it was really quiet. We didn't hear any of the neighbors at all. The staff was very friendly. I would probably stay here again as a last minute/money saving motel. It only took us about 20 minutes if that to drive into Mackinaw City.
