This is a basic, budget motel. They do not serve breakfast. There are also no swimming pool, fitness center, or water dispenser in the building. Check in was quick though it was already 9:30pm when we did. They have ample parking space. The room was old but clean and decent. The location is bar none. We had a room on the top floor at the back of the building and it was still perfect. Clean, updated, and very cute room. We could not have gotten closer to the bridge unless we literally walked across the street and slept in the lake. read more

The staff are extremely helpful and kind. Being able to park right in front of our room on the first floor was awesome. The location was great with the view of the bridge, and the historic museum and lighthouse/fort located just across the street. The mattress was comfortable. The shuttle to the ferry that takes guests to Mackinac Island was very convenient. They pick you up at the front door. ‍ When we walked into the room the smell of carpet fresh and air spray was very potent. We put our luggage into the room and went to eat supper. When we returned an hour later, the carpet fresh and air spray had given way to the worst mildew/mold stench I have ever experienced in a hotel. Upon closer inspection, there was mold in the closet, on the ceiling, underneath peeling wallpaper, and behind the plastic edging in the bathroom. The toilet rocked and shifted around the floor when sitting and standing back up. When we went to use the "hot tub", it turned out to be a lukewarm disappointment. There weren't even any jets working to help me give a "tub's half full" positive spin on its condition. My husband hung his swimsuit up over the shower curtain to dry, but there was so much moisture in the room, that they never dried after two days! Long story longer, GREAT people working at the front desk, but the property manager needs to really take a good hard look at the lack of air circulation and ventilation problems that are causing the mold and mildew. read more

Hotel location was nice. The room itself smelled musty and the lighting in the rooms was poor and the furnishings scant and were no better than what you would find at an economy motel. I was told our room had a private balcony. It did not. It was just a couple of plastic chairs sitting outside of the room on the main walkway around the hotel. Nothing private about that. Deception number one. I booked directly with the hotel and did not use Booking.com or Expedia. NOWHERE on the hotel's website did it say that the INDOOR pool and hot tub were closed for the season, nor did the person who made my reservation mention that when I made our reservation by phone that the indoor pool was not open. I could understand why an outdoor pool would not be available but an indoor pool? It was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. At any rate, we were told this upon check in and the hotel clerk's attitude was don't care and also the booking websites supposedly mentioned that the pool was closed. How much good does it do if you're not using those websites? Anyways, for the rate we were charged and the actual quality of the hotel and its deceptions. I would not recommend this place. Showers are really small and when it was time to lay down, there was dried blood on the back of the pillows.

I got the keys to my room and walked in my room to find a USED tampon in the toilet. There was also hair in the shower. I called the front desk and asked for a new room and the lady at the front desk told me if I wasn't happy I could leave. I thought about it, gave it another five minutes and I called again and asked for a new room and the women said I had 15 minutes to leave or they were going to call the police. I got refunded but traveling with young kids (one with special needs) it really out a damper on the first night of our family vacation. The lady said she was the owner but she had a thick accent. I would not recommend coming here. The rooms could also use some updating but the grounds are nice. read more

We stayed at the Parkside in for the 4th of July and were overall very pleased. We were able to check in about an hour and a half early. The rooms are not updated or anything luxurious, but it did the job for two nights. Think twice if you are bringing food that need refrigerated because the hotel does not provide refrigeration or microwave. There is an ice machine we used to keep our items cold in a cooler. The beds were okay, not the cushiest things on the planet but if your busy being a tourist, your body will need the bed anyway. The pool was a really nice perk with fireplace and seating inside. Breakfast is from 7:30-9:30 and had a few choices to pick from. Quick walk to downtown made the stay worth it! read more

Absolute beautiful view of the bridge from the room we had! Gorgeous at nighttime with the bridge lit up, laying in that comfortable king sized bed watching traffic go across and back on the bridge. Positives: -super clean -nice bedding -right next to the bridge and just 1 minute from downtown -sweetest desk man ever -good pricing -right next to a park -coffeemaker in room -nice TV's and a decent variety of channels Negative: -vending machine broke(nice man fixed it though) -no one told us the pool/spa was closed for the season when I booked -they forgot we were staying a 2nd day and got locked out(nice man corrected it) -hellevator( my butt did get a nice workout from those 3 flights of stairs) -worst continental breakfast ever...like ever -major lack of pillows(nice man brought more) Pretty much the nice front desk man had lots of minor complaints from us but stayed sweet the whole time and took care of as much as possible. We paid ab extra $40 for a room with a "view" which ended up overlooking a building with a view of the partially occluded Mackinaw bridge. The room was tidy enough & had all the basic necessity. We stayed here for two nights during the week, because it only cost $90 a night (twice as much for the weekend, and that wasn't even a bridge-view room). It was high-price but not unusual for the area unless you want to stay at a few of the roach motels. Park Side was very nice relatively, but it seemed lacking on any real sense of luxury. It didn't seem like it should've been so hyped or expensive for the following reasons. Our room was VERY small... like barely big enough for the bed. I don't know if all the queen-bed rooms were this small, but room 212 sure was. The free breakfast was horrible. We tried to save pennies on this trip by relying on this breakfast, but it was no more than a bin of Cheerios, a few bagels and muffins, a toaster, and a tub of orange juice. The pool was very nice but very cold! It was August and in the mid-to-high 80s out, but the pool was frigid. The hot tub was nice though. Their workout room consisted of a treadmill and exercise bike in a small room. We also paid $5 extra for a fridge, but we didn't actually get one. Aside from that, it was still nice. I guess my expectations were a little high for a hotel on prime real estate, but we did save money by staying here rather than a few of the chain hotels in the area. It was very clean, quiet, peaceful, and mostly empty on the pre-Labor Day week when we went. It's a short walk anywhere you need to go. I might stay somewhere else next time I go there, just because I like to mix it up a bit. read more

They do have a great view of the bridge and are a walk away from the lighthouse. Accommodations were more like a cheap motel. Small towels, one little bottle of shampoo, the whirlpool was broken and the breakfast was less than expected for the price paid for the room. Good place to crash if that's what you need. read more

i dont know why this place got such bad reviews, my stay was excellent !!! yes, the rooms are out dated, but the location, location, location !!! step out your room, walk not even 100 feet, and your at the base of the bridge, in the mackinac state park !!! yes, they only have a "couple" bridge view rooms, and they are pricey, but the rest of the romms, were very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. i have a bad back, and its hard to find nice beds. secondly, the price is amazing, i went during peak season,(may-august) and most of the other hotels, were $180+ and im a bargain shopper, i know what they were going for. i booked this room literally, in mcdonalds parking lot, on there wifi, and got the room for $99 plus tax, came to $105.XX $80 less than "motel 8" and the view is 1000 times better thirdly, i dont know why there getting burned on the "complimentary, continental breakfast" when i was there, they had hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, muffins, bagels, english muffins, three kinds of toast, orange juice, apple juice, milk, etc.... the breakfast area was packed, and i was stuffed, great stay, great food, great view, highly recommended !!!!! read more

We were recently vacationing in the U.P. and decided to stay a night in Mackinaw City. After HORRIBLE service at the Super 8 a block down the street, we tried this place. We were pleasantly surprised at the price considering the view we had. There is a great indoor pool, CLEAN ROOMS, and we were able to park right outside our room. Very cool view of bridge but that was about the only thing we enjoyed here. When I reserved the room, I told them we were going there for our honeymoon so they switched us into a room with a king size bed but there was nothing else that was even remotely special about the room. It was not bigger or more private or anything. In fact, our neighbors were using our chairs on the patio one night. The pool closed at 10 so by the time we got back from our daily excursions, we weren't even able to use it. Breakfast was nothing special. Parking lot and spaces small. Girl at the desk was nice. Just seemed very expensive for not a whole lot. read more

I'm giving this place four stars simply for the scenic location next to the bridge. The room was small, clean and outdated. There was a nice indoor pool, plus there is a shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the ferry. Also they had a new flat screen tv. For the price, our lodgings were adequate. read more

Well, the room was clean. Now that we have the good points out of the way, we stayed in the court yard. The only view we had were the cars in the parking lot. If you only want cornflakes and watered down juice then the breakfast is fine for u. Oh and bring your own pillows. The bed was ok, not comfortable but I was able to sleep. I have not stayed in other motels in town so I can't compare or make a recommendation for another hotel. If the rooms were half their current price they would be fair value. read more

Had reservations and paid months ahead of time. We spent the day on the Island. To get the call no parents wants, our son was hospitalized due to a collapsed lung. He had a chest tube put in. I called the hotel to let them know of our family emergency. I asked if we could get a refund or pick another date that we can stay. Due that we are in the area often. Anthony answered the phone he was very rude and wod not help. At the end of the conversation he sighed and asked if we were checking in or not. He also told me to call booking.com and not to call again. I called booking.com and a nice lady by the name of Monika did everything to help by talking with the hotel staff. Monika told me there was nothing she could do, and also stated that Anthony was very rude to her. Hope that Anthony learns how to treat people with compassion a d kindness. read more

Super impressed with how clean our huge room is! We upgraded to a bridge view room and could not be more pleased. Location is really great. You're not in the high traffic area but it's easy to get to if you want to go there. Breakfast room is really close by. Less than a two minute walk. If I could give zero stars, I would... Yes, the location is great (although not close to the main strip), but this does not make up for the travesty of the inn. Our room was so small we could not even fit all of our luggage comfortably. We could have dealt with the outdated room (we knew of this ahead of time), but the mildew smell was not bearable for us. We ended up giving our keys back and leaving after extremely rude and disrespectful customer service. The owners/office staff were not helpful in meeting our needs and were far from professional. So we booked a room a week in advance for Saturday and got a rate of 150 which was reasonable for the time. We got here and the guy at the front said we booked it for Sunday which was completely incorrect, so we end up paying 210 for a room half the size of what we originally had planned and more of the price. Front desk really wasn't trying to do anything in their part even though they're the ones that miss booked us. The only reason we settled for this is because we'd been ok the road for 400+ miles and I didn't have the time or energy to argue or find a hotel in such short notice.My advice is be CLEAR on what you booked, the included breakfast was terrible, pool was Ice cold the hot tub was decent. We are giving this only one star. We would give it .5 star if it were an option. Checking in was a little chaotic, and there is very little parking. We arrived into our room, and it reeked like musty, dank mold. We opened both windows and the door to air it out and had to use a candle to freshen it. The amenities (i.e. Soap, shampoo) are sub-par, dollar store items. The sink stopper jammed up. The hot tub had yellow water, was Luke warm and had a suspicious foam on the surface. The blankets are VERY thin, and when we called the front desk for additional blankets, we were referred to the second drawer of the dresser. The poorly worn item in the drawer also REEKED like dank mold. We called again and the front desk brought two more of the same items. The view is nice, but NOT worth the $160 a night we paid!!! read more

Room was clean but they left the window open (or did not close it from the last visitor) and there were mosquitoes everywhere. Rooms have 32 inch HDTVs but they are only hooked up to basic low-resolution cable. It was only $90 on Fourth of July week so I cannot complain too much. It's also right in front of the bridge and you can easily walk up to the shore. The coffee and juices for breakfast were all watered down and nasty. We had a first floor room on the parking lot side no view of the bridge but I could just walk around the front of the building for that. Close enough to downtown I could walk if I wanted.
