Old table in room- needs to be painted.

Very nice location however the hotel itself needs updates. Our room is not very nice- clean yes. Smells musty something terrible. The man at the front desk was very nice.

We stayed at the Parkside in for the 4th of July and were overall very pleased. We were able to check in about an hour and a half early. The rooms are not updated or anything luxurious, but it did the job for two nights. Think twice if you are bringing food that need refrigerated because the hotel does not provide refrigeration or microwave. There is an ice machine we used to keep our items cold in a cooler. The beds were okay, not the cushiest things on the planet but if your busy being a tourist, your body will need the bed anyway. The pool was a really nice perk with fireplace and seating inside. Breakfast is from 7:30-9:30 and had a few choices to pick from. Quick walk to downtown made the stay worth it!

Absolute beautiful view of the bridge from the room we had! Gorgeous at nighttime with the bridge lit up, laying in that comfortable king sized bed watching traffic go across and back on the bridge. Absolutely the best view anywhere in mackinaw! Would definitely recommend, but you need the rooms above the lobby area. Awesome! See the picture I have attached. Will definitely be back!

Showers are really small and when it was time to lay down, there was dried blood on the back of the pillows.

This property and its price was a blessing on this day as I took the last room apparently with a single bed. I booked at 3 pm on the day before the property closed for the season. Please express my gratitude to the kind young man at the desk on my arrival on 10/24 for his empathy and kind words to me coming from a unpleasant situation. Arriving here was like a warm hug from a friend, it was warm, friendly and clean. The noise issues that were a major factor at the other hotel were not an issue here. I decided that outdoor corridors and me are not ever going to happen again. It is not what I want from a hotel experience Due to the pandemic, only the pool was open not the hot tub even though it looked good, I didn't go there. Also coffee pots have been removed from the rooms due to cleaning issues, but the lobby had fresh tasty coffee brewing and available. I appreciated the variety of the creamers and sweetners. My room was very large as it was handicap accessible which was ok as it was likely others would have been settled at this stage unlike me. I also like the more spacious parking spots and overall apoearance. It is more centrally licated to popular spots but being October and snow flurries I drove. BC pizza delivers and that is a nice perk as their food is good. Thank you for the grab and go type breakfast which you get at the counter from 7-10am that day I stayed. It is nice to have some options for travelers in the pandemic. I chose apple juice, raspberry yogurt and an apple cinnamon muffin which were all prepackaged. It is a safe and appreciated gesture. This time we arrived early and asked for a floor level room due to having a wagon and two kids. They graciously allowed us to have a floor room but informed us it wouldnt be ready until 2:30pm which was fine because the check in time did state 4pm. We ended up come back around 4pm from the island. The room was 2 queens and it was massive! Insanely massive and better than the king one we had. The room was clean and thankfully the toilet worked. We went to the pool and it was nice and warm and empty at that time. Only sad thing was there is no tub in this room so it was hard to wash the kids but we managed. Breakfast is upstairs and sadly no elevator nearby. The food wasnt too bad. The kids ate a little and then we checked out. I will say that the staff was super nice. He was nice when checking us in an out. He had such a positive attitude.

Unfortunately, while the location and price were convenient, the hotel itself could definitely use a facelift and a major upgrade. The rooms we stayed in felt very dated and musty. The furniture looked like it was from the early 2000s and was definitely showing its age. The overall cleanliness of the property was also disappointing. I noticed dead bugs throughout the property, marks on the walls, and paint that looked like it hadn't been updated in years. Overall, I would give the hotel a C- for cleanliness and condition. The service was just okay. During check-in, the front desk staff seemed more focused on their own conversation than assisting guests, which made the experience feel somewhat unwelcoming. I understand that this was one of the more affordable options in the area, but I think the hotel has a lot of room for improvement. If I find myself back in the Mackinaw City or Mackinac Island area, I would probably choose to stay somewhere else. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I also wouldn't recommend this hotel to friends or family.

There were only 2 restaurants and 2 stores open during our visit, which made it very difficult to get the most out of this trip. I included this note in the review because you will probably book through the Mackinaw City website, which does not fully emphasize how many businesses and attractions are closed November-April. If you visit during the off season, plan on crossing the bridge to St. Ignace or driving 45 minutes to Petoskey for more food/shopping choices.*** [Staff/Service] Check-in staff was friendly, but not particularly helpful. We were given wrong directions for accessing the waterpark, which resulted in taking an elevator to the third floor only to walk back down three flights of stairs to the park when our room was maybe 200 feet from the main entrance. The other desk clerk we interacted with was new, but helpful when we needed batteries for a TV remote. [Cleanliness] The room was very clean. However, my son did find a leftover marijuana cone in the back of a dresser drawer. [Space] The room was very spacious. We booked a suite, and 3 adults + 2 kids were comfortable the whole stay. [Decor] Room decor was minimal and outdated, BUT the low prices of this hotel also don't attract the kind of clientele who respect the property. More modern decor would be nice, but I understand not investing in too much here. [Furniture/Bedding] The mattresses seemed new. Bedding was very clean and comfortable. The furniture is outdated and worn, but sturdy. As with decor, I don't blame the owners for not investing heavily in new furniture. [Noise] It was still the off season, so it was pretty quiet most of the time. A few other guests did get loud sitting on the balconies, but again... the low prices attract a "variety" of visitors. We saw a lot of empty alcohol and cigarette trash around the parking lot every morning, and saw multiple families (with children) carrying baggies of marijuana into their rooms. So... [Location] It's Mackinaw City... During the regular season, it has great access to everything. In the off-season, expect to travel to St. Ignace or Petsokey for food/shopping. [Price] Incredible value! A 2 bedroom suite with waterpark included for three nights was HALF the price of a one-night stay at most other waterparks. It is very budget-friendly, and perfect for kids up to probably 13. The pool is large, and the hot tub is basically a pool itself, so great for adults. [Food] Huge disappointment here. The website for this specific hotel states "updated breakfast room", but there is NO breakfast at this hotel. In the off season (Nov-April), there are only two nearby restaurants with breakfast, one of them being a high-priced saloon. Plan to pack breakfast items or drive across the Mackinac Bridge to St. Ignace. [General] It's a budget-friendly, family-friendly hotel with a nice indoor waterpark. A bit outdated and in need of some repairs, but don't let that deter you from visiting. In the future, we plan to visit after May, when more attractions are open.

There was a plunger in the bathroom, and I tried unplugging it a couple of times but was not successful. This was late at night, around 10 or 11. We waited for 45 minutes, but nobody came up in that time. I went down to the front desk and asked again if someone could come up to take care of the problem. There were two ladies in the lobby, one was busy dealing with other guests. I asked the second one about the bathroom. First, she told me that the other lady was taking care of it. Next, she asked me if there was a plunger in the room, I told her that yes, there was. Then she asked me, in a very rude and exasperated way, why I hadn't taken care of it myself. I told her I tried twice and it didn't work, but also that I was a guest, and I should not be responsible for fixing a problem in the room. I paid money to be taken care of, so to speak, not to be fixing problems. The lady became very upset and rude and started telling me that yes, I should be fixing it, since the plunger was there. She then left in the middle of the conversation. She must have taken about 30 - 40 minutes to return. I was about to leave back for my room when she came to tell me that she had gone to the room and fixed it herself, and told me it was hilarious that I could not take care of this myself. I was upset and I told her that she was raising her voice, and she said "No, I'm not!", and I again told her that this was her job, not mine. I ended up leaving after telling her to expect a formal complaint about this. When I came back to the room, it turns out that she was rude also to my wife, complaining that I had not been able to take care of the problem. She leaves the plunger in the room. The next morning we get woken up at 7:50 despite the fact that there's a "do not disturb" sign hanging. We were woken up because we "never returned the plunger", never mind our angry friend left it behind the night before. and never mind that everybody in the room is sleeping. The toilet plugged again on Saturday, and several calls from our room were not picked up, but were picked up once my wife used her cell phone. This time a very swet plumber came and took care of the problem without all that fuss. They have a lounge area in the 5th floor, with a pool table, and an arcade. The pool table does not have a triangle to arrange the balls, and the arcade ate some of the coins. These are minor issues. Most importantly, the toilet in the area was unusable because there was a 10 cm turd stuck in it which had not been cleaned by the time we left, so at least 3 days. The staff was rude, and condescending, and they certainly did not show consideration to our concerns and requests. The hotel seems to be decaying, which is not their fault. But what I consider their fault is their horrible attitude toward their guests. Do not stay there. The place is a dump. If anyone from the corporate office is reading this, I can provide additional details. Jaime B
