Went to the area for a Vintage Base Ball game. Decided to stay in Cheboygan to explore another city in Michigan I have not been too. This Hotel was the perfect location. It was just a minutes drive from downtown and a ten minute walk. Close to several Lighthouses that you can explore. We enjoyed the Hot Tub, Pool and the Breakfast they served. Check out the yogurt station with a variety of granola options. Only downside was inside the room there was a part of the floor that was peeling right in the walkway. Other than that things were great inside the room. New, fresh and clean. All that you could ask for in a hotel. read more

This hotel completely mishandled my stay. I was checked into a room by a front desk employee who on her own decided to switch me to a different room. I never asked for any changes. Later I found out they contacted my employer without telling me, supposedly to fix a "reservation issue" that I never created. That's a serious breach of trust. I was never asked, never informed, and their response was full of excuses instead of accountability. They tried to frame it like they were doing me a favor but in reality, they created a problem and dragged my employer into it without my consent. If you're staying here through a corporate program, be aware they'll make decisions behind your back and then justify it later however they see fit. I won't be staying here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who values privacy or professionalism. read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. The front desk staff was horrible and unoccomedating. My niece and a small group of her friends (small being 3 others) wanted to go swimming to celebrate one of their birthdays. One of the mothers purchased a room but then was told the girls were not allowed to go swimming. Because it was against company policy to allow a "party". I'm not sure when four 9-year olds and a supervising mother qualifies as a "party", but I digress. The staff refused to get a manager, made an excuse so they didn't have to get the owner, refused to let the other mothers buy rooms so it wasn't a "party", refused to refund the mother who purchased the one room her money, and scoffed when asked to explain to the 9-year old girls why they weren't allowed to swim since they wouldn't let the adults speak to management. Absolutely horrible to hide behind a policy that wasn't even presented in writing as proof. Nor did they tell the mother who booked the room. Had they simply offered her a refund for not explaining this prior to booking or posting it anywhere for the parents to read, the outcome would have been much different. read more

There is nothing to like about this place. The reason why Im giving them 2 stars is only because staff are nice. The carpet seemed like it has not been vacuumed for years. The room itself is dusty. There's stain on the carpet that they did not even clean up. And when I opened the cabinet theres old boxes of pizza from the previous guest. When I requested for the pizza boxes to be picked up, I expected to come back to a clean, fixed bed. But they did not do it. They tell you because they don't allow maintenance to go inside the room because of COVID (and that would've been ok if they were wearing masks in common areas but they're not.) I just don't get the point. There's a lot more cheaper hotels in the area that are way cleaner and more convenient. read more

The people working there were nice. Other than that, it is two nights I will never get back. The room smelled funny from the beginning. There were spider webs around the room. I sat on the bed to take my tennis shoes off, then got up to walk to the mirror. My socks were STICKING to the floor. It was the weirdest thing ever. But it went the whole way to the mirror, which was only half way across the room - if that. My fresh, new, white socks had a dark brown coating. (picture) First time wearing them. I took a towel and wet it then wiped down the floor. They were dirty (picture with the socks) - And that was just from water. I was so grossed out. So went to the front desk and they gave me rags and alcohol water (half of each) to wipe it down. (They offered to send someone in, but I'd already had experience of what that meant.) I cleaned my little pathway three times and it still wasn't fully clean. Shockingly dirty. (The room didn't smell as bad though, thankfully.) The floor wasn't just dirty, it was filthy. And while I was down there cleaning, I saw a lot of dust bunnies, cobwebs, and leftover candy from a previous visitor. My cousin was in another room, and it was in the downstairs part. (LOTS of spiders. I went in and cleaned them. She's writing on here as well.) For the over $300 it was a night -it was unbelievable. There isn't a lot of choice when you come to this town and supposedly this is the best anywhere nearby. So, if you come to this town, this is what you can get. You can go to a fancier town and pay these prices with a higher quality experience . The people working there were nice- to me. They were really annoyed with my cousin and they let her know it. Got room for a night because we lost power at pur house due to a ice storm. Lost power for an hour at hotel, front desk said no worries no generator, but they never lose power. Next day still no power at my house, rented room for second night (my daughter, toddler and 2 dogs in seperate billed room) . Spent most of day in 32 degree weather trying to get generator at house going with no luck. Went back to hotel just in time for power to go out there, and never came back on. I asked the guy for at least a discount for the one night that we had already paid for and couldnt get heat, power, water and he laughed and said nope. We all stayed in running cars to stay warm. Next morning I asked a woman at the front desk (among other guests) about a discount since we none of what we were paying 170 a night for. She said nope. We live in a very small town, not alot of motels ... but I hope people realize this one is run by scammers. I have not heard anything good about them, but unfortunately our options were limited. I STRONGLY URGE PEOPLE TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL. read more

I stayed here specifically because I "thought" I'd be able to see the water but I had to drive to get to anything. This BW has a beautiful location on the river. All of the rooms look out towards the river. It's a peaceful location considering it's right on the main drag. The room was super clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The shower is hot. The microwave and fridge work. There is cable TV with good reception. And WiFi good enough for streaming. The beds are comfy and the hotel is generally quiet. We got a good night's sleep for 3 nights. here. The staff is all following COVID guidelines. Burgers from the Big Boy next door were delicious. I would definitely come back to this little gem along the river. read more

BWRT is a solid motel, nothing great about it but nothing terribly wrong either. It checks all three boxes: clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate (and free!). If you need a cheap place to sleep in Cheboygan, go to BWRT. read more

I was pleasantly surprised Best Western River Terrace. First, the staff were very nice. The whole motel, not just my room, was clean and seemed recently updated. The view of the river was nice and the nights sleep was quiet and comfortable - although the king bed in my room was a bit more firm that I like, but I still slept well enough. The majority of the rooms are accessed from the outside. While there may be an elevator somewhere, I did not see one. Should you need elevator assistance in getting non-ground floor levels, you may want to inquire or ask for a ground floor. The breakfast was pretty much standard free breakfast seen at most hotels with various breads, bagels, muffins, waffles, cereals, etc. I chose to go next door to the Big Boy for a little different fare. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it if your staying in Cheboygan. If you want a good pizza, drive down the road to This Old House Pizza. Great pizza. read more

Your basic room, clean, bed was clean and comfortable but average overall. The room we were in was in the basement and had no elevator so make sure you don't have a heavy suitcase or find someone strong. The basement room smells horrendous of mold and was musty.all of our clothes felt damp the entire week. I was pleased to find myself "upgraded" to the jacuzzi room. The first thing I discovered was that the wireless Internet does not work in the room. The front desk clerk lied to my face that this was a surprise to him. He had me call tech support so he didn't have to, they restarted the router to no effect. "I don't get it," the clerk told me before adding, not at all creepily, "the woman in the room next door to you has been online all afternoon!" Uh, ok. Convinced at last that I wasn't getting online, I turned to the hot tub. Filled it, got in, turned it on, sat back and relaxed until I noticed that the foam was BROWN. I somehow doubt that the last guest dropped a chocolate mousse in there, but whatever it was had clearly not been thoroughly cleaned. Days later I still feel like taking a scalding shower when I think about it. The room itself was big and clean, but cold. It was 16°F outside, so when I got in I thought it was just the lingering chill from having the door open while we were 'troubleshooting' the Internet connection. I slept straight through and woke to a room that had to be 50°F or lower. They had the heat off. I eventually found the thermostat and turned it on, but why, in a city that gets to 16° regularly, would they have the heat off in a room that they knew was going to be occupied? The rest of the room was clean. I've been worse places. Not many. I don't want to go back to them again either. Note: I told the front desk about all of this the next day. No offer of so much as a breakfast coupon. read more

Clean! Clean! Clean! I travel 8-months out of the year, always staying at Hampton or Holiday Inn. With that much travel, I am very picky when it comes to my room. I have the highest status at the other brands...My family reserved two rooms here due to the fact that it was a little ways away from a chain where I could use my points. I walked into my room and before I could turn on the light, the clean aroma of the room told me that this was going to be a good night sleep. I always rip my bed apart and "inspect" my rooms when I travel. This is probably one of the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in. Not only mine, but the other room we booked was the same way. This hotel isn't much to look at from the outside but the rooms are quite nice looking and clean, the beds are comfy, but what really makes this a great stay is the view! i am writing this review on my room's private balcony with a gorgeous view of the river. Room with a "pool view". Really? The only window in this room overlooked the pool but also opened to a hallway! You want people walking through the hall to be able to look in to your bedroom?? Well we're not exhibitionists and so had to keep the drapes closed whenever we were in the room and thus it felt like a prison. Standard decent breakfast & nice pool/hot tub kept this from being a 1 star. Obviously a river view room would have given this a higher rating, but that they actually have zero privacy rooms like the one we had was ridiculous. read more

We've had to stay here a couple times due to power outages. Both times were not extraordinary but comfortable and clean. Our dogs were welcome for a fee. Breakfast was included and had bagels, waffles, yogurt, cereal. Everything you'd expect. read more

My wife and I absolutely love this hotel! The people that run it and work there are nothing but some of the most friendly and helpful hotel staff we've ever delt with. The hotel isn't the fanciest place or most modern experience but, it has always been very clean, everything works as it should, and again the people are great. Even better its substantially cheaper than any mackinaw place worth staying at as well. Very convenient, close enough to downtown location. OK hotel in a fairly small town. Staff was friendly. Rooms were clean. Small workout room. Great view of the river, prior to winter setting in. Average continental breakfast. Big Boy restaurant next door and numerous fast food restaurants in immediate area. The only complaint was the door did not seal well and you could feel the outside air coming in. Also be aware that there is no elevator for 2nd story rooms. read more
