Woman Lake is a gem in North Central Minnesota. Clean water, beautiful shorelines (full of…read moremansions), and an abundant population of Walleyes. The main public access on CR 5 needs help. The parking lot is fine. The dock is too short and there actually needs to be an added courtesy dock. In Summer winds from the South pound this access making boat launching a misery. Perhaps a stone breakwater could be added like on other large lakes of the region.

Just don't be a brat and be sure to bring your carts back before 7:30 pm. Middle of September with the perfect weather and you're all set for a nice day of hitting golf balls. New to golf or old, you'll find it very easy to play here. They're open from early spring to mid-October (late fall and depending on the weather!). This golf course is in Walker, MN, where people in general boast the Minnesota nice culture. The holes are easy to find , if you ask me . The grounds are well-kept, very lush greens, lovely trees and such a great dose of Nature Rx! They have resident bald eagles who aren't shy to show off mid tee. The club house staff is fairly new and no more Ms. Crabby, whew! Find Kim, Lori or Mike getting you set up and ready for your make-believe Masters tourney. Pricing is, for a Californian like me, a party like it's 1989! The phone here is always ringing so make sure you call in to make a reservation. They also have a very sweet club membership program. Their bathrooms (can't leave this out) are nice, clean and all-gender. There are plenty of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. My company recently held an event here to benefit The Pancreatic Cancer Society and the turnout (even volunteers!) was amazing. The crew's energy at this golf course is unwavering! Easy-peasy and hassle-free fun for a day. So you can stop reading here now, head out to the course and don't forget to bring your best swing!

The first cabin we stayed in there was tiny and there was no WiFi. The shower was literally yellow. We booked this place not ever going to the area. It was so sketchy I couldn't step out of the cabin without being scared to get shot. There was dirt everywhere the"beach" was gross and weedy. The "resort" doesn't even supply blankets! The TV was the size of ant man and had no good channels. We switched to a bigger cabin the next day and it wasn't any better. It was the same thing just an extra bedroom. There was nothing to eat around there and the kitchens were very small. The only fun thing we did was play catch with my sister with a baseball but what was more fun was playing catch with a cantaloupe! THE WORST PART WAS THE POOL! It was in a barn!? It smelt like rotten cheese and was tinted yellow! Ok, that's it long story short dont go here if you dont like camping. Ok I'm done.

My group came in from Las Vegas just to attend their muskie school. Bob W. and his team really know how to treat their guests. They were very accommodating and helpful to us especially since none of us fished for muskie before. Their fishing guides were very professional and were very easy to learn from. They knew where to put you on the fish and what baits to use. The room accommodations, and boat rentals were fantastic. They have an on-site bar at the lodge which really helps you relax after a long day of fishing by offering locally crafted brews and mixed drinks.

Entire sections are missing with remnants of old posts sticking up out of the water. Walkways that tilt at a 30 degree angle. No AC unit in the cabin. Couldn't open a window because the screens were broken on most of the windows and the windows wouldn't stay up. Hot as heck in the cabin the first two nights. Killed about 10 hornets inside our cabin. Three or four a day. Don't know how they were getting in. Charged us for 3 dozen shiners and we only bought one. Tried to bill us for 4 nights when we were only there for 3. Nope. Won't be back.

Although I don't fish, I'm told that the fishing is great. During the day I watched my daughters on paddle boards reconnect in ways they never would be able to in the busy life we all experience. I watched children play in the water and on the beach all day and into the evenings. I just took it all in. The cabins keep the rustic experience of years gone by where families enjoyed the simplicity of time together without the clutter. We sat by the open fire in the evenings sharing stories. And we laughed. We really laughed. We looked up at a clear sky that sparkled with stars. We waited for the Northern Lights' magical dancing that never disappoint. If you're looking for more than just a getaway--if you want a place where tradition, family, and welcoming come together--this resort is the place. It has heart. The cabins (dating from the late 40's to the early 00's) are all wonderfully reminiscent of northern MN/WI lake cottages my family grew up visiting and brought back a lot of great memories. It is exactly what a rustic resort should be -- simple and quaint! We even found out that many guests and their families have been coming here for over 60 years! The beach is a true gem -- hundreds of feet of sandy shoreline and clear water. And because it's on a point, you have amazing views of most of beautiful Webb Lake. Each cabin has its own dock and guests have access to pontoons, fishing boats, kayaks and canoes. We'll be back next year!
