Two side by side kitchens make meal prep fun for a crowd. We spend leisurely days at the private beach, or on the lily pad, fishing off the dock or kayaking and paddle boarding. There is play area with small climbing wall for the young kids. Campfires at night with smores are the capper to delightful days at Edgewood.

We stayed for four days and were so pleased with our Suite providing us excellent views, even in frozen winter. Chris was an excellent host making us the most delicious breakfasts every morning. This is an architecturally unique place with gorgeous views and all types of rooms to relax, filled with thoughtful amenities. We got to tour many of the rooms all with private baths and nicely well done. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite- a romantic suite equipped with a double Jacuzzi and a two-person shower. It's so convenient on the (frozen) waters edge walking distance to downtown and dozens of restaurants. We walked to many of the restaurants. Thank you Chris for helping to make our 'pearl' anniversary at the Red Bridge Inn in Parks Rapids so special.

One of my coworkers stumbled on the red bridge (it's on the hiking trail system) and we have all made it our place to stay when in town for the last several years. Rooms are clean. I travel too much and that's important. Fairly good size. Well equipped with bathrooms etc. They are all different. It's a B&B with the hosts living off site which is not the norm. That makes it quiet!!! There are 7 rooms. The inn itself is on the river. Beautiful setting. Breakfast is what you want. I like a full breakfast. Bam. Friends like toast. What kind? I've seen folks get everything from 'just coffee' to a bowl of fruit or cereal. Just the way it should be Common areas are great. Large deck on the river. Large dining area- tables etc as well as a separate room with tables etc I suspect for meetings and groups. There's an area with couches and tv if that's your fancy. The deck is equipped with grills and a dock - it's on the river and they do rent boats. There's a hot tub. This is not a 5 star hotel. It is a clean well run place to stay wether on vacation or travel for work. 5 stars for me!!

There are specialty shops and one of the largest walk/run/bike trails around, Heartland Trail. I was only able to do 10 miles of it, but with different starting points there is always something new to see. Do bring your deet in the summer months as the state bird, the mosquito, is always present. You will also be close to the start of the Mississippi River, which you can walk across. It's only about twenty minutes from both Downtown Park Rapids and the Mississippi Headwaters in Itasca State Park. We have been staying at Bear Paw for a week in June every year since 2009. The past few years have been better than ever. Doug and Ruthann bought the resort in 2019. They and their son, Dan, are some of the friendliest people I've met. They are quick to address any issues which arise. They keep the cabins clean and updated. The grounds are well-kept. The lodge has great food and friendly staff. The fishing is great. The beach is clean. The lake is fairly quiet for as populated as it is. If you see an open week on their calendar, do not hesitate to book it!

We found the floors cover with a layer of dirt upon…read morearrival and cobwebs on the windows and doors.The cabin's counter's near the oven on our second day had mouse droppings on the counter.We were given a mouse trap- but mice delivered more daily droppings.The bed is worn out, we landed together nightly- sunk in the middle. I tried to heat up some leftover pizza in the oven, smoke came out and smoke detectors went off. I found the racks had cleaner that had not been rinsed off; and the racks were still covered with grease that I couldn't rinse off. I mentioned the mouse droppings when leaving and was told the cabin is 90 years old and mice get in, and was told I should of taken the batteries out of the smoke detector if that bothered me. There is no internet or TV service. We left a day early because we couldn't handle another uncomfortable day. The owners were unconcerned as you can see by their responses and actions. If you don't mind mouse droppings; dirt and uncomfortable bed, this place is for you.
