After doing some online research and talking with a few photographers I decided to work with Stacey. We met in Old Town Alexandria one Saturday afternoon in October. I was nervous at first but shortly into our photo session I felt at ease as Stacey is friendly, professional and fun, not to mention amazing at what she does! She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. Our online gallery was available after about a week and a half and the results were fantastic! Soon after, Stacey scheduled a free consultation with us to view all our photos on the large computer screen that she has and to help us pick out which prints and framing options we wanted to put up in our home. She even helped us decide how best to place the photos on the wall. We received all our prints last week and have gotten our framed prints up on the wall, we couldn't be happier! If we were staying in the area I would absolutely work with Stacey again in the future.

I moderated a panel last week and a panelist I was being introduced to said, "yes, the woman with the most amazing head shot." Yesterday morning we did our 5th(!) family mini session shoot with Stacey in a garden next to the Capitol. It's wonderful to get these beautiful shots of our children growing up -- and have some shots with me that I love that aren't selfies! Years ago Stacey took an iconic (among our family and friends) photo of my son sulking off to the left of the Washington monument when my husband and I were were standing to the right smiling while pregnant with our daughter. That same day Stacey was able to joke around with our son and get the best shots of him smiling and enjoying himself. Our daughter enjoys the shoots just as much. Thank you, Stacey!

He gave a lot of tips and guidance. You won't feel rushed, even when you ask a lot of questions, which I think I did (again, I was nervous). I received my photos with the touchups back quickly and still get compliments to this day. The headshots are a great investment, as I tried to take various types of photos that would align with different areas in my life (i.e. nonprofit professional, author, and small business owner.) The location was easy to get to. Wish I could have seen the pup, but there is always next time. I recommended Moshe to my place of employment, as they are looking to get headshots done for staff.

He really knows what he's doing and is a master at coaxing the best out of his subject, then helping them muddle through the enormous amount of material to pick out the gems with just enough input to make sure you're getting what you want, not what he thinks you should have (although I bet he'd be happy to pick out his favorite shots if you feel you need that level of input). Editing was quick and very responsive and I feel like I really got a great value for the money I spent.

Elliott was terrific from start to finish, quickly answering my initial query and walking me through his working method. After an initial consultation, we set up a time to meet in his studio. A few days later, I went back to the studio to choose final pictures with him, and he produced the final photos in short order. I'm so happy with the results. What really sets Elliott apart is his ability to capture you--your personality, your energy, your best self--so authentically. I walked away from the shoot feeling confident, and the photos reflect the best version of me. I also loved his unique process: after the shoot, he sits down with you the very same day to go through the images together. It's such a thoughtful approach--no long waiting period, no endless back-and-forth--you leave with your selected photos in hand, feeling completely taken care of. Elliott is professional, kind, and incredibly talented. I can't recommend him enough to anyone looking for photos that truly reflect who they are.

I had been aware of Alyona Vogelmann's work for some time, but what finally convinced me to book a…read moreportrait session was seeing her printed photographs displayed in the home of a mutual friend. I was genuinely blown away. The portraits were beautiful in their simplicity and composition, but what impressed me most was their ability to capture not only a person's appearance, but also something deeper--their individuality, personality, and inner presence. The photographs felt both artistic and authentic. Another reason I chose Alyona was that I wanted to support both her work and the creative community she is part of. Portrait photography is clearly more than a profession for her; it is an art form. She has a remarkable ability to make people stand out while remaining completely themselves. That is a rare gift, and I hope she continues creating portraits for many years to come. For a long time, however, I hesitated. I am rather shy and have never considered myself particularly photogenic. Most photographs of me seem to feature closed eyes, awkward expressions, or simply don't feel like "me." The price was also something I had to think carefully about. Then, during an art workshop, Alyona offered a voucher, and a generous participant passed it on to me. I took it as a sign that it was finally time to do it. The experience itself exceeded all my expectations. We began by talking and brainstorming while walking, and through those conversations I realized that I wanted several seemingly contradictory things at once: something simple and natural, but also something artistic and creative. As someone who struggles with decisions--especially when it comes to choosing outfits--I was incredibly grateful that Alyona took the time to visit my home and help with the selection. Her eye for colors, textures, and combinations is extraordinary. I was also a little apprehensive about working with a stylist. I worried that I might end up looking overdone or unlike myself. I could not have been more wrong. The stylist immediately understood who I was and what I was comfortable with. With just a light touch of makeup and thoughtful styling, she highlighted my features while keeping everything natural. It was amazing how many different looks she was able to create without ever making me feel like I was pretending to be someone else. And the photoshoot itself was simply fun. What I expected to be uncomfortable turned out to be an enjoyable and creative experience. I loved experimenting with different outfits and moods, discovering new sides of myself, and collaborating in the creative process. Alyona has a way of making you feel at ease while gently guiding you toward your best self. When the photographs were finally ready, I was excited and nervous at the same time. Seeing them for the first time was surprisingly emotional. Some of the images moved me so much that I cried--happy tears. The portraits were incredibly diverse, yet each felt authentically me. I loved the painterly "Old Masters" inspired images, the bold and cinematic portraits, the modern clean looks, and even the more daring artistic shots. Each revealed a different facet of my personality. What surprised me most was how often I find myself returning to these photographs. They genuinely lift my mood. For the first time in my life, I have portraits that I am proud to share with others. I even printed one and hung it on my wall--the very first portrait of myself I have ever displayed. Every morning I see it when I wake up. I love it because it captures a genuine smile, one where the eyes smile too. It feels hopeful, dreamlike, and full of light. Most importantly, it helped me see myself differently. It showed me a version of myself that I recognize, appreciate, and perhaps had not fully seen before. That, to me, is the true value of Alyona's work. She does not simply take beautiful photographs. She helps people see themselves through kinder, more truthful eyes. I can wholeheartedly recommend the experience.

It was an experience I will never forget and I walked away with what I consider to be high quality art and a collection of genuine, personal moments frozen in time forever. Alyona went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and that the process was as simple as possible. She helped coordinate and plan everything (Hair, make-up, clothing, location, theme) all the way from our pre-photoshoot consultation, through 2 weeks of putting outfits together and even helped me through the photoshoot with posture, posing and angles. You don't just show up w/ a bunch of clothes and take pictures, everything is pre-planned and carefully thought out & coordinated (together). The homemade snacks were delicious as well. When I was looking for a photographer online I was magnetically drawn to her work because she was the only one where I could literally see HER in her client's photographs. I was confident that she was able to see the absolute best in each of her clients and bring it out of them and capture it....which was very important to me. I am in the middle of a very personal and intimate project where I needed natural and genuine photographs to compliment it perfectly. I am not just satisfied with the final product, I am grateful to have worked with Alyona and to have shared such a special experience. I expected to have a few great pics, but I was so surprised to find that almost every single picture looked like magazine quality. All my family and friends are blown away. I received so much more than what I expected and will definitely be working with her in the future.

Over the phone, steven took time to get to know you and your story, try to get a sense of what kinda pictures/portrait you are looking for and record your story through the lens. We did both city hall wedding and a private 2 hours outdoor shooting on Long island. As always, he arrived early ( earlier than us). City Hall Wedding For most couples, it's prob. their first time, so having a wedding photographer who is patient and experienced with the process definitely ease a lot of the stress. I remember Steven kinda walk me through the process over the phone before the court wedding date, giving your tips that actually helped a lot. The actually "ceremony" is quick, but sometimes the wait can be a little long, he really takes time to capture each moment for you along each step of the process. Outdoor Shooting I told Steven that I love nature, and I like artsy/cool pictures. Steven suggested morning/evening time where the light has a lot of variety. For me, he is sort of an impressionist, trying to capture beauty throughout the changing light. He is creative, and also open for suggestions. We loved our pictures. Notes: Pictures in this review were downsized, and I changed a little contrasts and light (so you can't see our faces). Ask Steven for some portfolio work, which you can get a better sense of his styles (and maybe some pose ideas).

It was my S.O.'s first trip and my millionth time to NYC. Our family had already decided that we were getting engaged and having our engagement party this upcoming November. I wanted to make this trip memorable, as it was his first trip, so we decided to do our engagement photos in NYC! I researched photographers almost everyday for a month when I stumbled upon Steven and his amazing reviews! We don't regret hiring Steven! He was absolutely amazing! We had been together for 6 years and we never did any type of photo shoot together. Our shoot was on a Friday morning in Grand Central Station and then in Central Park. Imagine a typical Friday morning at Grand Central. It is very, very, very busy and packed. We met up with Steven there and he asked us to go stand in the middle, of what seemed like thousands of people, and go pose. Needless to say, we felt SO awkward doing that. The second Steven started talking to us, we got so comfortable. The whole time we were with Steven, we only noticed him and each other. He made us totally forget how nervous we were and made us forget about the hundreds of people walking by and staring at us. I recall him saying he was in technology or something before he started doing photography but I swear, he must have some training in psychology because he like hypnotized us into feeling so calm and comfortable. Once he started clicking, we were so calm and at peace. We just focused on each other and the hilarious conversations we were having with Steven. Gosh, he kept us so entertained & happy! He truly is such an amazing man!!! I researched photographers for a whole month and am so glad I found Steven! I couldn't imagine a better photographer. And as far as the pictures go, they turned out AMAZING!!! For our first ever photo shoot, they were the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen! NY has such a special place in my heart and I'm so pleased that Steven was the one who captured my S.O. and I's first trip there! I would very highly recommend Steven to anyone who is looking to engagement pictures, family photos, party or wedding photography, anything and everything! You will not regret hiring him!
