Today I made my first trip to Birdie Books and absolutely fell in love with it. It is small but it packs a punch. So many great titles and authors to choose from. I picked up two books on my TBR today. Everyone working there was so kind and friendly. I'm an introvert so I like to browse in peace but they were happy to answer a question that I had and were bright and kind at the checkout. I also picked up a little booklet of the local indie bookshops and got a stamp at checkout. I also picked up a chai latte from the cafe. And then I went out on their little patio and had the time of my life writing in journal, sipping my chai and reading my new books. This feels like a place that I can be an introvert but enjoy myself in public. I don't know if that makes sense but it is how I feel. Looking forward to going back soon! read more

A cute little bookstore, maybe a little too cutesie and heavily-curated for me, but packed with popular and interesting books. Great staff, a nice atmosphere, large children's room in back. Plus an attached coffee shop. I see the reviews here are mainly for the bookstore itself and the coffee shop is a recent addition, so I'll review it separately. They feel separate anyway- decor and vibe is different. Great to have local bookshops, and I'll be back for gifts and maybe with Kid K. read more

I thought a bar in a bookshop is a neat idea so I went to check out Birdie Books. The bookshop itself was cool. I don't really buy books anymore and use the library but I love being in a bookstore and being near books. The bar looked neat and was pretty however I didn't get to try anything. They had a reserved sign up for an hour from when I was there but they didn't make it feel very welcoming that it was okay to go in still. No one acknowledged me or even looked at me. The staff was stuffy and ignored patrons. I was dispappointed as I liked that concept but didn't feel welcomed in their shop. read more

Quaint coffee shop woven into a small independent bookstore. The book selection is small but there are a few nice gems for coffee table books. The back of the store is geared toward YA and kids while the front of the store near the cafe has a small selection of fiction/nonfiction/cooking, etc. The books were fairly market price. Most of the staff is at the cafe but there are plenty of people around for assistance. The cafe is screen free! No laptops but phones and e-readers are welcome. This is a lovely book store and cafe! I was with my son and we were coming from brunch so we weren't hungry so I can't speak to the cafe aspect although I love the concept. Everyone was super friendly and the space is adorable! Great kids section and of course my son was happy they gave out free stickers. Prices are reasonable too! read more

I walked in through the bookstore. The place is so aesthetically pleasing that it made finding a new book exciting! I walked through the hallway and found an entire cafe! The sugar cookie an lemonade were both delicious! The chairs/couches were very comfortable. It's a great place to buy a book and read! Cute bookshop and cafe! Lots of parking right near the entrance. I loved the vibe of the entire store from the book selections to the fun galaxy skylights. They have lots of events coming up and loved seeing the calendar of events clearly stated in multiple places. Overall, we had a fun time and can't wait to try other goodies from the cafe. Just updating to state that I STILL love this bookstore. Went in and bought some high end literature today and a new yard flag. If you have ever been to City Lights, this is the Ohio equivalent. Edgy, fun, personal, and just a fantastic stop over. Didn't check out their cafe yet, but was happy to see the "Screen Free" sign. read more

Such a cute store! Plenty of parking and things to do around the area. The outside is very cute and visually captivating. There's two sections to this store and it's surprising olbos much stuff and things are in each side. There's so many books, gift ideas, cool tools and toys, and g really interesting and unique items and books for sale. Even though it is a smaller space, they really pack it full of great things. You'll find little and big things around every corner. I recommend spending some time here to look at it all. They have mystery books you can grab if you want an adventurous read. Staff is always nice and helpful! They're very welcoming and so great! I love walking in not knowing what to look for and finding something cool. read more

Absolutely delightful for book lovers. The building is perfect - full of nooks and crannies for books and bookish goodies, and it looks like they are currently working on another new space. The kids room is a nice large space with lots of inviting seating and tables and chairs for a kid to do some exploring. In addition to a generous quantity of books, there are also shirts, pins, stationary, and the like. There are a lot of nice decorative details - be sure to look up too - loved all the little touches! There is a nice big parking lot right next to it - looks like one part is for the church across the street so may be full when they're in session, but the back section was labeled as a public lot. read more

What an amazing local indie book shop! LOVE the vibe - the exterior painting, interior decor, book selection, inclusivity, and outstanding service set this apart from literally any other book store in Columbus. We were treated so well, the young woman working the counter was so welcoming and friendly -- she made us feel like friends. Bought a couple books and felt the prices were more than reasonable for new books. Fun note: they're working on building a cafe adjacent to the shop! Should be open sometime summer 2025! read more

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE CAFE SPECIFICALLY. I love the bookstore. It is a beautiful space and love that they are very obviously welcoming and affirming. HOWEVER, charging $1.50 for non-dairy milk is criminal. Why am I paying almost $9 for a latte!? Also, while I can see the well-intended screen free cafe as potential, it ends up being extremely loud in there. I tried to read with my noise-cancelling head phones on while drinking my $9 latte and it was almost impossible to focus. I will still 100% support the bookstore but the cafe does not do it for me. Why would I go in there for overpriced coffee and a loud environment when I want to either quietly work or even read a book? Java is way better suited for that. read more

I love supporting local bookstores and the role they play in shaping culture and community. During my visit, though, I noticed a strong political emphasis in one direction. I personally value spaces that foster thoughtful discussion across differences rather than deepen divides. As a parent, I hope to bring my kids into environments that model respect, curiosity, and balanced exploration of ideas. Unique book store and cafe. Tons of books, cozy atmosphere and small cafe, coffee, teas and small selection of pastries. I had orange scone w/ orange marmalade and coffee. No laptops, iPads or phones is the rule . The idea being talk to each other! Lots of original art for sales by local artists beginning in August or September. This place is just different in a good way. Only thing is the cafe section is small and crowded, but worth it. read more

Was sitting in the cafe area waiting on my wife's tea. She wasn't silently reading on her iPad. Literally making no noise. Someone came up and it's a screen free cafe. My wife put it away. Then the book club that sat down behind us and were loud and disruptive to the quiet. I get it your place your rules. We won't be back. read more

The cafe is a hidden gem. I got one of the orange blossom specialty coffee and it was amazing. There is a little cooler off to the side with some delicious banana pudding and some tasty sheet cakes. Staff was so helpful and nice- cafe was crowded but there was room on the patio to enjoy a nice break. Keep up the great work. read more

I love love love Birdie Books! However, the wine is really expensive. $14-$16 for a tiny pour. I'll go and get a glass occasionally to support the bookstore and will continue to buy books here, but I hope they make some price adjustments to the bar menu. read more

If you are a book lover, or need gifts for book lovers, this little treasure is a must-do. It is a fairly small space, but they use the space so well. Floor to ceiling books and even an area to sit down. The store is divided by genres and the staff was very helpful in making suggestions. They can also order books if you are looking for something they don't have on the shelves. I loved the wall of "love notes" they had, so you could take one home or leave encouraging messages for others. Such a bright spot of much needed community and positivity. read more

This is a delightful, quaint bookstore off N. State Street in Westerville. There is a wide selection Timon of books-something for everyone, it seems. It had been in existence for a little over a year and are expanding to include a cafe. The book I was looking for was not in stock but I was able to order it and the owner said it would be in by next week. I love this place!! read more

OK how has this place been around for a few years and I haven't known about it? This book shop is tucked in the corner on the main Street in downtown Westerville. It has a wide selection of carefully curated new books. Birdie Books is welcoming and eclectic - notice the neat wallpaper, the decorations hanging from the ceiling, affirmations wall, and the various plush chairs.
