The store had a good selection of Birkenstocks and seemed to be in stock on many of the popular varieties. The service was adequate but not particularly helpful or attentive. We did not have questions or need more assistance than someone retrieving the shoes in the correct size, so I do not know how helpful the staff might have been in a situation where questions were required. read more

I was set to buy Birks because I have been wearing them since high school and I am 40 now, and I hadn't replaced mine for a few years. I was initially excited, but the service was horrible. And the shoe selection was bleh. The prices were good, but not as good as I thought they would be. They had hardly any interesting sandal styles. Only the two strap Nevadas. I think they appeal to the international tourist who wants to wear classic Birks. The salesperson was so bored. He didn't measure my feet even though I said I was in between. He didn't check to see how it looked. He said no sizes in size 39. Which looking back I think he lied because he didn't want to deal with me wearing them. I am Asian but I don't look like a rich Asian. Well little did he know I was set to buy at least 2-3 Birks. But the styles were so boring. I wanted more variety. And supposedly there was no shoe in my size. He didn't stick around to help me, but ended up talking to the security guy. I was afraid to ask anyone else for help because I thought the shoe store was commission based. But I asked a salesgirl at the end and she said it wasn't. I don't know if she understood what I asked. Ugh. Luckily I ended up at Rieker's and had great service and bought really cute comfy shoes. Will not go back. They act like they are some bourgeois uppity store. Also Birks aren't made as well as they used to be. Their quality has gone down. I need to start looking for another brand. read more

Pros: you cannot beat the price of Birkenstocks in Germany. Wow. Compared to prices all over the world, prices here are incredible and affordable. Shoes are comfortable of course. Store was clean, bright, and airy. Store was surprisingly crowded for a Monday evening, but it's also small so maybe it wasn't as crowded as it seemed and was just a reflection of the smallish, narrow, space. Cons: Service was lackluster and disaffected. It would be one thing if customers could try on the shoes without help, but you can't. Trying to get someone to help us was hard. Two salespeople flat out told us sorry, can't help you. Several others ignored us. We finally got some help from a very nice young woman (the Cashier and the security guard were also quite nice). But still definitely worth a trip for the great shoes alone. read more
