Always great. Everything is fresh and made to order. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner: I recommend it!

    (1) Orden de birria Quesadillas (3 in an order) Fried beans and salsas (2) Agua de horchata (not great) (1) Agua de Jamaica (its ok)

Definitely a great place to check out if you are in Guadalajara. The birria was delicious. They give you tortilla chips, salsa, and fried beans while you are waiting, which is not a long time since they serve quickly. The aguas frescas are okay, not made from scratch. We ordered the orden de birria to share. It's about right for two people, but if you like more meat, it might not be enough. To make it work for us, we ordered two quesadillas and a consome (birria soup). Note that the order does come with freshly made tortillas.

A true gem of Guadalajara. The restaurant occupies 2 spaces right next to each other and has a lot of indoor and outdoor options for dining. Walking into the space open to the courtyard we my partner and I were quickly attended to and helped by the friendly staff. There are both Spanish and English menus offered. The birria here is what's so special so that is the exact thing we ordered. As we waited for our plates to arrive, just soaking in all the traditional Latin decor, on a beautiful sunny day felt like a glimpse into the deep history of food culture here in Gua. As the salsas began making their way to the table, i immediately adored the choice of dish wear. Its traditional aesthetic made the already historic feeling even more apparent. All the ingredients were very fresh as there were bulky bags of their vegetables placed along side their kitchen which is viewable by all their patrons. The staff here was lovely. I enjoyed talking with the ladies cooking in the kitchen and admired their openness to conversation while cooking up premier birria. It was special to me to establish a minor connection with the women responsible for such savory and delicious birria, consomé and nice hand made lemonade. The dreamy restaurant delivered great bites for a hearty and delicious meal. I'd easily recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic birria experience in Guadalajara. It was one of my favorite spots!

Great service, nice old building, lots of history here, and the birria de res was delicioso! Small portion was rather large for me, once you add the tortillas and other appetizers you won't be able to eat it all.

I loved this little restaurant. The seating is open air and beautiful, peacefully located next to a small courtyard. The decor and menu is traditional Mexican. We came specifically for the Birria tacos which did not disappoint, though were quite different than the kind of birria we are used to in America! The Birria here is less greasy and relies on authentic, fresh flavors. It was very delicious! The service was kind and efficient. I recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a classic Mexico experience.

Wow! From the mother land straight to your plate! This Birriera is spot is authentic in every way! Located in the center of this small town near centro Guadalajara, it seems untouched from time when you step inside! I do t need to say it but make sure you get the Birriera De Chivo with sides of quesadillas or you can be bold and just get queso Birriera tacos with a sid eon consume!! Try anything with cheese and I'm sure you will be pleased!

Beautiful birrieria, such a cute restaurant, with great staff and delicious food. I got the classic birria de chivo (small portion) and loved it! Very flavorful, a little spicy, it came with variety of salsas, beans & home made tortillas. My cousin had the birria tacos, it was an order of 3 with quite a bit of meat. I really enjoyed the variety of salsas, all were unique and very flavorful, my fave was probably the green one as it came with chunks of avocado. While it was a great experience, I did try better birria in other nearby restaurants. I still recommend it, and would visit again!

We were very excited for the birria here. They are very friendly and they brought out delicious salsas and homemade chips. The tortillas were also handmade. Got the birria tacos and barbacoa de chivo (goat). To be honest both were only ok. Everything looked amazing but lacked a little flavor for me. But the service was great and friendly. There was a cool vintage green car outside as well. I'm giving it slightly higher star rating because of the delicious salsas. Prices were very reasonable.

I went twice on my last trip. The food was so delicious, we of course had the Birria but we also tried the Cochinita pibil, queso fundido, consume de pollo, consume de chivo, everything was so good I can't tell you any of it was bad. The service was prompt and they were very attentive My only issue was on my first visit they tried to charge us for some tacos so I believe it was like 80 more pesos. We obviously thought it was an accident Second time: when I paid the check, I showed him I was paying 100 in pesos cash for the tip and whole bill on the card. He had me sign on the hand help but I noticed it was more than the check and he was trying to be quick and take the card reader but I told him it was more. He said he accidentally added 10% tip to the tab. This happen twice and on the second time it was far too shady to let go. CHECK YOUR RECIPT AND CHECK WHAT YOU SIGN FOR WHEN YOU PAY CARD!!!!! Not All people have bad intentions but there are a few.

This has been one of my favorite stops for food so far. I loved the birria tacos, fresh juice, and cheese. The whole experience was great. The decor was cool and there was a series of musicians stopping by which was a cool experience.

Loved the birria de chivo, very tender and flavorful! Definite going back on our next time we visit! Service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for a Sunday morning when we went. Quiet, peaceful and calmed.

What they provide once you're seated. Refried beans with queso fresco. Pickled options. Several different salsas.

The place is is wall to wall tables and they were all filled when I went. They have table clothes (not fancy, but nice) and fried torillas (like chips, except full rounds) on the table with three kinds of salsa. The service was good and the food came out lightening fast. I am a vegan and I went because Yelp says that it is vegan friendly.... which is hard to find in Guadalajara. I only saw one vegan option, which were potato enchiladas. They were good, but they did not blow me away.

On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos
