I've been with several temp agencies before. Desperate for a job, I filled out a résumé online and went to their office for further paperwork. I had no real factory or general labor experience, but they found me a decent job within a few days. The Advance lady that oversaw my employment in a small factory promptly replied to my emails and questions. It is a temp service, so they don't take kindly to call-offs, lazy workers, bad work habits, etc.--none of which I had, so I was on good terms with them. After 10 months, I called off one day, and she was nice about it. But, I've known others who called off regularly and were usually fired. If you're a good worker, you'll be fine. I was eventually hired into my company, and they even sent me a congratulation letter. My new position didn't work out, as I was laid off from the company after only six weeks. I went into Advance on Friday at 3:30pm to ask if I could reactivate my profile. Less than an hour later, she called me for a new job starting on Monday. That newer job was even better, but I found something better a few weeks later and left to work elsewhere. Basically, they are a standard temp service. They don't have any spectacular jobs, and the majority of jobs I saw for entry level were $9-10 per hour. They offer NO benefits unless you've been employed consistently (over a year at full time). In the meantime, don't expect holiday pay, vacation time, leaves of absence, or a decent health plan. They do offer health insurance, but it's a ridiculously expensive plan. Working for a temp service does suck no matter where you go, but they were okay.
