I go to a comparable competitor for my gym and pool, and without being rude, the one I go to feels modern, bright, clean, and has a nice energy to it. The way Homestead is now, they've plowed a ton of the area to make way for some homes that look like they're from western Olathe and plopped down in Fairway/Mission Hills/PV. Very out of place and sterile. Homestead itself feels like a shell of what I remember, with the pool remaining, some tennis courts, and a food hall. But the pool just felt dead. The neighborhood trees have been ruthlessly hauled off, and it feels like a compromise where both sides lost. Everything just feels new, stitched together, and kinda blah. But my kids had fun in the pool and it is what it is. I'm sure it's good for those who live nearby, but not it's for me.

The new men's bar/grill that is adjacent to the locker room is an outstanding facility that other clubs of this vintage wish they could afford to replicate. The course itself is a good design but one that presents a huge challenge for me, a golfer with a life-long natural fade. The entire course requires a right to left baby-hook off the tee so my natural fade sets ms up for an extremely long second shot, many times out of the trees! Personal swing flaws aside, I like Blue Hills very much and like to play here with friends as often as I can. I don't think that I would ever become a member here due to the course set up though. I'm not sure I could willingly write a large check each month for a course that kicks my butt every time that I play it. Overall, Blue Hills is in rarefied air in KC, an old-school country club that manages to attract new members and generate enough cash to continually invest in the club.

The clubs and programs continue to get better every year. I have attended plays, games, and art shows here; all excellent quality. The staff is superior to any I have experienced elsewhere; from the custodians, lunch ladies, office staff, teachers, counselors, librarian all the way up to Mr. Mershon. I feel blessed that my daughter was able to graduate from here. Because of the caring mentors and helpful advice she received, she is now attending USC with a near full ride scholarship. This was something I never would have dreamed possible for our family and I am so thankful. My middle child is currently completing his first year here and has loved it, especially his band experiences. Sadly, we will have to move this summer and it will take our family out of district. I fought hard for the ability to stay but it wasn't to be. Even so, I hope that he will carry with him the seeds of success that, I know, they have already been planting. I deeply regret that my last child won't have any opportunities here. We will always be Staley proud!

There were 299 people in my graduating class and I knew most of them fairly well. I was very active in drama and forensics at STA. The coaches and teachers are funny, caring, and positive. I still keep in touch with them. STA is really well-known for their soccer team as well- I think they've won nationals or come close to it every year for the past 8 years! WOOO I also feel like my teachers really cared about my growth and performance as a student. I always felt safe at the school. It's a great place to grow up and learn!

The school is full of bright kids who work hard, athletes who compete with all the other strong programs, and students dedicated to service who care for others. Sure, it's cheaper. Doesn't mean it isn't great. Have had a chance to work with a lot of Aquinas students and have even taught a couple classes there. Always been impressed.
