I would like to be very clear. It was one of the first pizza places in Krakow. In an era when there were so few restaurants in town, it was a great treat to visit 'Bar Pod Aniołkami' from time to time. Since the 1980s, Polish style pizza pies continue to be served there and I love it! This is a must stop when I travel to Poland.
My only favorite is mushroom pizza. The gooey dough is covered with a thick layer of buttery sauteed mushrooms and onion with a lot of melted cheese on top -- a great pleasure of mine. It reminds me of the past because everything tastes the same as it did then. The recipe has never changed. There has always been heavy usage of black pepper. Fortunately they cut it back recently, so the possibility of having heartburn also went dramatically down. One small pie is good for two medium hungry woman.
Along the time its name has changed to 'Bistro Pod Aniołkami' and the menu has been extended to Polish traditional dishes.
All kinds of alcohol are served, but I usually like just draft cold beer with my pizza.
You make your order at the counter and when you finish the meal it is polite to take your dirty dishes to a little window in the wall.
Don't hesitate, try some home style Polish pizza and have your own opinion. read more
