Meanwhile, the waitstaff insisted there was no problem with their flaky terminal and it must be our card. My wife took an Uber back to our apartment to get enough cash to pay the bill, while I called our credit card company on the phone to try and clear things up. Of course, there was nothing wrong with our card and the company had no record of the attempted transactions. Finally a representative from the credit card company convinced the waiter to try and run the card number manually. The waiter did this, and it actually worked, but before he did it he actually threatened to "block" my card if it didn't work. So basically we had to put up with 30 minutes of unbelieving attempts to charge our card, two extra Uber trips, and a long phone call to the credit card company in order to pay with a perfectly valid card here. You would think that a supposedly "nice" restaurant like this would have more than one way to run a credit card, as many other places in Mexico City do. As it is, I would never even think of going back here when there are so many other great options available. Don't let it happen to you!

From entering the space, a tall ceiling featuring an open kitchen from which the chef cooks and interacts with her patrons, one finds a place to rest and focus on yummier things for a while. The food leisurely leaves the kitchen on the hands of busy and nervy servers who mostly run around rather literally, making sure the diners do not get too desperate and restless for their food. Even though the dishes take a long time, and I really mean a long time, to arrive at your table after ordering, the food quells any impatience that might have risen during this hunger-filled wait. While the food does not blow minds, it is very satisfying, specially when coming from those hard hospital days. There is a very commendable cazuela, filled with chistorra and cheese, which I believe to be gruyere, served with warm flour tortillas, which altogether is a meal onto itself. The main dishes, while not expertly handled or cooked, yield savory and sating flavors, and you might even get a visit from Doña María, the chef/owner of the place, to check on food and service. This is one of those restaurants from which not much is expected and not much is done to try to be one of the best eateries in the area, but it does serve as a break for difficult days, and maybe that's what this place is intended to be. The chef/owner enjoys cooking her food and serving it to her everyday patrons, and I have no doubt the restaurant is a true reflection of who this Spanish lady is. A solid 3 1/2 star restaurant given a 4 star review because we all need a place to receive a hug, or a homey plate of food, when times call for it.

I remember the Spaghetti Warehouse and other personality-specific restaurants and this had exactly the same feel and to top that? - The futball game of Portugal was on, influences of Italian, as well as French, AND the classy French/murals, paintings, and environment, my feet were hurting from walking all day and this was a GREAT solution! The salad is make your own if you want and everything was as fresh as you could possibly hope it to be. The staff is superb and waiting on you instantly. When you approach this restaurant from the outside you are expecting amazingness and that is what you get here and it accents anything you hoped to experience about San Angel. The menu has some appetizing dishes and lots of fish plates that seem to be absolute picks. The price is a little higher than normal but, the overall experience, when I walked away was totally worth it. For three people, with just simple drinks, and three main plates, about 850.00 pesos, so yes, on the high end but this is an experience that is superb, classy, and one you will not forget anytime soon.

I went on a Friday night and the place was some busy, no full, but service was incredibly slow. Waitress was so kind but no way to compensate waiting time. Food was just ok, not as good as I remember it was in the past. I got a Camboy crepe (savory, chicken and curry) which was good and a red fruits crepe (sweet), which was just ok. Pricey, considering food experience and slow service.
