This is the perfect type of thing to highlight the pride and creativity of Mexican cuisine; you are in one of the greatest food cities in the world. The interior is like a comfy Mexican study. The staff is attentive and considerate; generous with their recommendations and hospitality. They even called to give us some instructions cause of a protest across the street at the Venezuelan embassy for easier access. Our courses were absolutely delicious. My wife and mother-in-law got the 6-course tasting menu and I went with the 9. If you like a tasting menu or want to introduce someone to the experience, Raiz does not disappoint. The amuse bouche is one of my favorites, cause I love looking at people's faces when they get such a small appetizer. I am not going to post all of the dishes here, cause part of the experience is the sensory look of the plates, but I will say the pork belly and escamole were two of my favorites. I will also say that the tasting menu portions were generous. If you're celebrating a special occasion or want to dip a toe into all that CDMX has to offer, give Raiz a try - they are wonderful. We were started off with complimentary crispy tortillas served with both red and green salsas--a simple but very welcome touch. For food, my kids ordered the lime soup and the penne al chipotle, both of which they really enjoyed. My husband and I went for the tortas: he chose the Bacalao a la Veracruzana and I had the Cangrejo de Concha Suave. Both were delicious, with a unique twist on the classic flavors. My husband also had a cocktail that he loved. Overall, a solid experience with great food and atmosphere. This is definitely a place I'd return to when I can slow down and savor it properly.

For mothers day I treated myself to a house margarita and it was delish. We also tried not one but two desserts this time, the chocolate cake with ice cream and the soursop jelly, both divine! I was excited having just learned about the soursop fruit, and how many nutritional benefits there are- make sure you give it a try if you're into pudding desserts. The next time we tried some of the same things and some new things- steak, roasted chicken, cauliflower with mole sauce (the mole sauce here was perfection) mushroom soup and the house lemonade. All fantastic, and the presentation is wonderful. We ended the evening with the hot chocolate cake which was the perfect balance of chocolate paired with ice cream- note that this dessert does take some time to prepare fresh. Simple Tradition in Roma…read more Fonda Fina, in the heart of Mexico City's Roma district, is a study in wood--walls, chairs, even menus tied together in a rustic embrace. Service is attentive, never overbearing. Complimentary chips and salsas were underwhelming, but the guacamole more than compensated: chunky, creamy, bright with lime, and served with corn tortillas so delicious we ordered an extra round, despite the stingy three-per-order. The suadero tacos, four to an order, were the undisputed star. Served piping hot with a smoky salsa on the side, they showcased meat both juicy and flavorful, the salsa layering on a subtle charred complexity. Tlacoyos de birria, also served in fours, offered hearty masa and decent filling, though the meat fell short on succulence. The red mushroom tamal, paired with a tomato-chile sauce, was the weakest link. The sauce dominated the dish, muting the mushrooms, whose "gourmet" touch clashed with the humble, comforting spirit expected of a tamal. Even with a few misses, the meal's highs outweighed its lows. My partner got the Chamorro de puerco which was a massive serving of pork shank that was tender and fell off the bone. Their "nice cocktails" were a variety of tequila and mezcal inspirations and the classic margarita does not disappoint. Our servers were attentive and checked in on us regularly- they also gave great recommendations. We came here around 6:45 on a Friday and had a reservation but could have come as walk-ins based on the crowd. I imagine it gets busier later in the evening. It was a bit odd to eat this in tacos though considering there was so much sauce but good by itself as well. The only dish I didn't like was the bone marrow sopes which this time around felt much smaller than when I had it last. There was barely any escamole which we added on and the bone marrow pieces were so small. While it was one of my favorites the last time I visited, I wouldn't get it again.
