Interesting food (guacamole with grasshoppers), friendly service and nice street atmosphere

Wow! That is the best way to describe my dinner at Antolina. It was not on my radar, but hotel staff recommended it as a must try (I'm so glad he did). I went solo and was sat within a few minutes outside. I didn't go inside so not sure the vibe, but the outdoor seating was quite cute. I ordered the Cochinita pibil and Jamaicalina. I decided to try a small portion of bunelos for dessert. Absolutely everything was super flavorful. And after eating a bit of the tortillas and salsa, this was more than enough food. read more

They have a lot of char broiled al carbon style of tortas here, and what I had tried before was the torta milenesa. I've been here twice and the service has always been spot on. I've never encountered any delay to be seated, even when there were four of us. It is very obvious that this kitchen has been operating for quite some time and the quality of their food is exceptional. I actually would not mind having lunch here more often of I was in the neighborhood regularly. read more

Our experience at Antolina was incredible. In a city that stands out for its large number of Michelin rated eateries, sometimes it feels like the chase for such distinction becomes a distraction for diners and restaurants alike, and lessens the experience. Antolina is remarkable in that it provides Michelin-quality food while keeping an honest, non-pretentious atmosphere. The indoor area was small but well decorated and every table somehow felt private. Everything we ordered, starting with cocktails and appetizers to our main dishes and desert was creative but approachable and absolutely delicious. We ate at a number of "highly rated" eateries on our trip, but by far Antolina was the highlight, and I can't recommend it enough. read more

We waited for a while and were not attended to. When the waiter showed up because we called his attention he answered some of our questions since he gave us a no English menu and he said he had to leave and come back but he went and attended a new customers that just arrived. I truly believe that we're discriminated because we don't speak Spanish and we're Asian although he spoke English pretty well. We left and found another friendly restaurant around the corner. Btw, it wasn't busy that day Wednesday night and there was only 2 customers and that includes us and the 3rd one just showed up he went and took their order. So much for the high ratings. Incredible food and drinks. Fantastic and friendly service. This warm and inviting restaurant served unique and flavorful dishes with artful presentations. The ceviche was bright and I loved the crunchy seeds on top. The flautas were earthy and yummy. All of the drinks tasted great! Antolina was in our neighborhood named Hipodromo a section of Colonia Condesa. We ate both lunch and dinner at Antolina, and our meals were great. Their dishes are very interesting, and they have one menu for both lunch and dinner. Brandon was our server at lunch, and Arturo was our server at dinner. They were good dudes and helped make our meals fun. The molé at Antolina's was fantastic and everything tasted fantastic. Antolina's also has a great selection of mezcals, which helped me get through my last night in CDMX. read more

3.5 stars I agree with others that the service and ambience is nice. Food tasted good too BUT portions are very small. My husband's pibil entree was appetizer portion. Luckily we weren't very hungry otherwise, I feel meal would be too pricey for the food we needed to order to feel full. read more

I like a nice fine dining establishment. I'll drop $300 at an upscale steakhouse in the United States, no problem. However I feel like the food should match the experience, if not it should come first. I gave Antolinas 3 stars, because the service was great. The atmosphere is great. If you wanna feel like you're eating at an upscale restaurant, they got it. Where they dropped 2 stars is because they're focused more on being different and the ambience than they are on being better tasting. The food should come first. If putting edgy things in your food like marrow, grasshoppers, etc doesn't make the food taste BETTER than normal Mexican food, it isn't worth a peso. We have a saying in the states.. you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still just a pig. read more

BEST meal of our entire trip to Mexico City. We hit up all the famous fine dining restaurants, but the food and experience at Antolina's topped them all. Every dish was good. Stand outs include the nopales tartar (cactus), guacamole with crickets (sooo smooth and delicious) and the ant eggs with bone marrow. This restaurant really shines with unique ingredients cooked in a delicious way. Service and ambiance were perfect too. Great pacing and attentive staff. Pricing was also really reasonable compared to some of the other fine dining places we went that weren't nearly as delicious. Absolute MUST for visit to CDMX. read more

Pretty corner restaurant with only outdoor seating. Started with the tostadas tasting. They were great and creative. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling too good and we took the rest to go. Enjoyable dinner with very good service. Applause for the green, mezcal based cocktail with cucumber juice and lime with salt and hibiscus on the rim. Chips, said to come from Veracruz, were fantastic. Salsas were okay, not extraordinary. Two entrees were both very satisfying: turkey with dark Oaxaca mole (and heavy chocolate flavor) and a Pibil chicken. Portions were a bit small. Banana pancake with cardamom ice cream was perfect conclusion. Special note of thanks to waiter who was very patient with our many questions. The nicer interior seating was full so we had outside table during rain storm. I cannot comment on the interior ambiance. read more

Ordered a tomato soup that tasted like the stuff you get from a can, but even more salty. The tacos with cooked marinated pork were okay, but not significantly better than anything you get for 70 pesos at a local mercado, with the exception that here you got only two tortillas. nopal tatar salad was overly sour and the mezal coctail was nothing special apart from all the ice in it. Overall a really bad price/value ratio for Mexico. For 900 pesos we paid, you can get three dinners at local places, still retain spare change a have more memorable experience.This place is overhyped, but it is totally okay if you do not have high expectations and dont mind paying western prices. read more

All around 5-star experience. The tacos de chapulines: literally dreamed about them after I tried them. It was my first time eating crickets in all their cricket-ness (have only had cricket flour and other products), and they were so tasty. The mole: I went with two Mexican friends and one of them said the mole sauce reminded him of his grandmother's!! The depth of flavor was amazing. The mezcals: Delicious. My favorite was the cuish cuish. Love that you can get a 30ML size so you can try multiple ones without getting too sloshed. All in all, highly recommend. read more

We had a delightful dinner at Antolina on our 1st night in Mexico City. I enjoyed the Platon Mescalero and my wife loved the Enmoladas. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but there was an excessively long delay from the time that my dinner arrived and the arrival of my wife's dinner. It was really good. My partner ate bugs (cockroaches!), and liked them. So...five stars just for that. The service was really pleasant. The outdoor seating wasn't scenic - just a busy street and little separation from the traffic. And the food was good but neither one of us finished our entrees - too much food and not overwhelmingly good. This place is fantastic! Everything we ate here was delicious and the restaurant is high-end, but not pretentious or stuffy, which I love! As usual, we asked for recommendations from our waiter on what to order to help us get the most delicious items on the menu. For starters, we got the kampachi tostada. Really excellent with salty pops of olive. For the main, we got the sea bass and the octopus. The sea bass was ok, but the octopus was divine! It was cooked to perfection and was served with a crispy mashed potato ball. When eaten together, it was a perfect bite! Had traditional Mexican dishes - enchiladas with a nice mole sauce and some very spicy tacos. Pedro is the owner and is very helpful. Damages for 2 was USD55 with tip. Service was excellent, with a few English speakers to answer Spanish menu questions for us gringos. The cocktails were really good, particularly the mescalino. Mole was excellent, particularly the beet mole. My husband wouldn't give up his plate because he was still dipping chips in it, so they gave him a small bowl of it. read more

We had escamoles, guacamole with crickets, and some seasonal dishes - all interesting and very delicious. Antonina was our neighborhood spot on our list recent trip to Mexico City. The food is fantastic, service exceptional, and drinks and wine selection all good. We went here 3 times during our 5 night stay. Twice for late night drinks, and once for dinner and drinks. Each visit was incredible. This place was just okay. They seemed annoyed when we walked in and asked if we had a reservation, yet the restaurant was almost completely empty. I ordered the beef "tacos" but they were not tacos at all. They were more like Taquitos- long, crunchy, fried tacos. They were the best part of the meal, yet they still didn't have an immense amount of flavor. The bone marrow was tasty and fatty, but the reason why they don't get 5 stars is because they couldn't make simple black beans. Their beans were immensely salty. Their dessert however, was fantastic. I got the chocolate cake. read more
