The store is fine overall -- clean and the staff are friendly, which I definitely appreciate. However, this BJ's location is probably one of the smallest box stores I've ever been in. Compared to other BJ's locations across the state, this one feels noticeably limited in both space and selection. It gets the job done for basic needs, but if you're used to the larger warehouse experience, this one might feel a bit underwhelming. read more

I stopped by the BJ's in Torrington, because I needed some honey and cheese. This BJ's surprisingly wasn't that busy on two nights before Christmas. It was well stocked, but it took me some time to find everything I was looking for because the layout of this store is a bit different from the one in West Hartford. There was a very kind lady offering samples of corn and apple sauce, she was working at both stations simultaneously. Each time I passed by her she offered it to me again. I told her, I just had it, she said "that's ok, have another one!" I always thought the people who check for your BJ's membership card as you're walking in was the most ridiculous job, because you can't really do much without your card. On this occasion they didn't ask for my card. I was convinced it was in my purse. After my shopping cart was filled and I went to pay, I discovered I didn't have my card. Lucky it was in my car, so all time wasn't wasted. Their job to check for your card, actually has a purpose, holding you responsible that you know where your card is. BJ's is a Club Warehouse. Their membership is $55 annually. This is where I typically go to fill up my car with gas. Their gas prices are the best. read more

Very clean and well stocked BJs, as several other Yelpers have pointed out it is on the small side. They have less variety and small departments but overall still a good selection. During the holiday season they extent their shopping hours making them easily accessible. Their gas station is located in the front of the parking lot and typically has some good deals when certain items are purchased from the store. read more

We go here about once a month, usually on the weekends. This is a great place to buy a big ticket item, the flat screen TV we bought last year was a great value. Mostly we shop here for the food items, things like K Cups and coffee creamers and frozen foods etc. Vitamins are a pretty good buy here too. Is every single item on the shelves a bargain? Absolutely not. Some of the pricing is high, some is average, but even the average pricing becomes less desirable because they make you buy double or even triple packs of things, and that's not the best way for some people to shop. The selection is pretty good, as far as the groceries go. They have certain items we see here that we just don't see anywhere else - like the frozen Harvestline Chicken Florentine patties. They are delish and its always nice to pop open our freezer for a quick dinner choice. During the holidays it can get pretty crazy here, but on this hot June evening, the place was empty. We feel that the annual membership fee is covered by the savings we generate by shopping here. read more

I come for the gas, pop in for the occasional baking supply and reasonably priced DVD. It gets a bit chaotic on weekends, and parking can be a bit of a challenge (I suspect due to the angles of the parking spaces), but seem like largely reasonable prices. You really have to price compare with what you need and what they offer, because it doesn't have the selection a grocery store does. But if you can get a deal on membership, the gas savings a God send! read more

Torrington's BJ's is a bit slim. It's got a pretty decent selection of your everyday necessities, but is definitely lacking in their fresh food selection. Produce is generally well-stocked, but can be hit or miss. Their butcher area looks like some guy popped his trunk and presented you with his latest vacuum-packed adventures in venison. They also have a very poor selection of organics and/or natural foods, which are generally available in larger wholesale clubs. All in all though, we do a lot of shopping here, and it's definitely worth the membership dues. There's a lot they could improve, but I'm not sure they have any sort of incentive to. Their attentiveness to the check out area is the one issue that BJ's is pretty bad about. It can feel like the Lincoln Tunnel at rush hour waiting in line sometimes... but oh, right. There's only ONE register open, and a few employees standing around the service counter, watching but doing nothing. It's probably not like that most of the time, but every time I'm there when it's busy, it seems to be a testament to some poor front-end management. read more

STOP THE BULLYING Have lived behind BJ's for 20+ years. We bought our home & Bjs moved in 1 month later. I attended every city meeting, spoke to Bjs management was promised a stockade fence & dense shrubbery would be installed, as well as parking lot lights pointed away from our home & no deliveries between midnight-4a. Exactly NONE of that happened. Instead we are constantly dealing with noise & light pollution to the extent that we have been sleep deprived for over 20 yrs, called names by the 3rd shift crew, treated poorly by Managers. This BJ's was a bit of a let down. The store felt small and like it had fewer inventory than other BJ's that I have been to. The parking lot was a disaster and it is not easy to get in and out of. On the plus side, it was clean and the staff seemed friendly. There were more cashiers present than other locations too. If you live in the area, this is your only shot, but it fell short of expectations when I went in for something and found a lot less than the usual when I looked around. read more

I am really obsessed with low prices for high quality items so they get 4 stars for me just for that alone. They are cheaper than Walmart with their regular prices. You can get cheaper prices but using the book of coupons they send you every month and you can use manufactures coupons on top of that. You can't find a better deal anywhere else close. They would get 5 stars if they had a deli like some other BJ's. read more

The fresh produce is way too expensive like all warehouse stores. The tire people are understaffed and they dont answer the phone. But when you get hold of one, they are courteous and helpful. Once in a while I have asked people in the aisle for help finding something I saw there a while ago and they are useless. The gas station is only a good deal when prices get high, otherwise the stations done the road are usually 1 or 2 cents more. Its also a hassle to swipe two cards. You would think they could tie your membership to a credit card. The selection and food choices...well, BJ's is a ghetto compared to the Bj's in Stratford and the Costco in Waterbury but its all we have within a reasonable distance. read more

This review is for the gas section of BJ's the store itself has ALWAYS been a great place to shop. This is to let BJ's know that the woman that was manning the gas station yesterday April 22, 2017 had the worst attitude ever. In the past we would get our gas weekly from BJ's. My husband had a change of direction for work so we haven't gone as much as in the past. Yesterday, we went to BJ's and encountered a very cranky service person. When my husband inserted his card the previous customer's gas purchase would not clear the screen. The BJ'S CS person seemed unwilling to help with an issue at the pump and proceeded to tell my husband he needed to be patient and wait for the pump to catch up. She eventually had to come out to see the issue herself and seemed to be putout that she had to leave her booth. This will be the last time we use the BJ'S gas station. Would rather pay an additional couple of cents to NOT have to deal with nasty people. They no longer are trained to be pleasant no matter the situation. I have worked in CS in the past and NO ONE would have ever gotten an attitude from me, even if the customer was being difficult. read more

I could not agree with the previous poster more. The service there is CONSISTENTLY the worst I've ever experienced. The front-end staff members are so rude. That is if they actually come near a customer to help with an issue. The kid who punches your receipt is polite and helpful. I suggest a promotion to management. read more

July 2015 I purchased glasses with anti glare coating on the lenses. Less then 6 mos later. the coating was lifting off the lenses. I asked an eyewear specialist there to look at it. And was told because I hadn't PURCHASED a warranty, I should order new lenses. THEY WERE 6mos. old!! Shame on you BJ's. I was happy with my glasses and service from you- until you sold me a defective product,and showed me no courtesy, no consideration to even check if the application process of the anti glare coating was defective? Frankly, the salesperson didn't look surprised- must be brought to their attention often enough that shutting down customers queries into becomes your "go to" reply? Good luck with that sales tactic. read more
