Highly underrated for birthday gifts, cards, clothing, books, duraflame boxes, and also food saver bags- all these things which I had to get recently all in one place and all was a pleasant experience!

    Great option for gas.

Very clean and well stocked BJs, as several other Yelpers have pointed out it is on the small side. They have less variety and small departments but overall still a good selection. During the holiday season they extent their shopping hours making them easily accessible. Their gas station is located in the front of the parking lot and typically has some good deals when certain items are purchased from the store.

We go here about once a month, usually on the weekends. This is a great place to buy a big ticket item, the flat screen TV we bought last year was a great value. Mostly we shop here for the food items, things like K Cups and coffee creamers and frozen foods etc. Vitamins are a pretty good buy here too. Is every single item on the shelves a bargain? Absolutely not. Some of the pricing is high, some is average, but even the average pricing becomes less desirable because they make you buy double or even triple packs of things, and that's not the best way for some people to shop. The selection is pretty good, as far as the groceries go. They have certain items we see here that we just don't see anywhere else - like the frozen Harvestline Chicken Florentine patties. They are delish and its always nice to pop open our freezer for a quick dinner choice. During the holidays it can get pretty crazy here, but on this hot June evening, the place was empty. We feel that the annual membership fee is covered by the savings we generate by shopping here.

I come for the gas, pop in for the occasional baking supply and reasonably priced DVD. It gets a bit chaotic on weekends, and parking can be a bit of a challenge (I suspect due to the angles of the parking spaces), but seem like largely reasonable prices. You really have to price compare with what you need and what they offer, because it doesn't have the selection a grocery store does. But if you can get a deal on membership, the gas savings a God send!

Torrington's BJ's is a bit slim. It's got a pretty decent selection of your everyday necessities, but is definitely lacking in their fresh food selection. Produce is generally well-stocked, but can be hit or miss. Their butcher area looks like some guy popped his trunk and presented you with his latest vacuum-packed adventures in venison. They also have a very poor selection of organics and/or natural foods, which are generally available in larger wholesale clubs. All in all though, we do a lot of shopping here, and it's definitely worth the membership dues. There's a lot they could improve, but I'm not sure they have any sort of incentive to. Their attentiveness to the check out area is the one issue that BJ's is pretty bad about. It can feel like the Lincoln Tunnel at rush hour waiting in line sometimes... but oh, right. There's only ONE register open, and a few employees standing around the service counter, watching but doing nothing. It's probably not like that most of the time, but every time I'm there when it's busy, it seems to be a testament to some poor front-end management.

This may be a record. Had to snapshot it.

The Torrington location is great. Stands out amid sadder versions of Stop and Shops and Big Y stores in the area. Service is terrific. Selection ample. Feels like I'm "getting something" for my investment. Just a cautionary tale: For all of the new shelving, floor tiles, paint, and displays, there comes a price. And just because it's merchandised expertly - it doesn't mean it's worth the value it's priced at. IE: Hellman's mayo, is Hellman's mayo at any store. I love the store. I love that they have an array of Central NY brands (Hoffman's, State Fair/Speedie, etc). But I always make two lists: what are the wants from Market 32 and what are center-store grocery needs that can be purchased for 20% less elsewhere.

I also appreciate that they carry a good variety of brands, like the Boar's Head meats and Cabot cheese I picked up. Checkout lines can get a bit busy at peak times but they move at a decent pace and the store is clean and organized. Prices are reasonable for the area and they often have good sales. Overall, a solid grocery store that makes weekly shopping pretty convenient.

For decades I have gone in when store first opens and it has little traffic. I head to the butcher…read moredept and order 6 pounds of hamburger in half pound increments. I then thank the butcher and continue shopping. it's usually done in 5 min. I usually come back in 10 n grab them. well this morning I was told that they can not do this anymore. It takes to much time. It's a new rule. as a single man who works 2 jobs n has little time. having the butcher to do sell me proper portions, since the store only sells large amounts. it's part of what the. pitcher is for. after not grabbing any of the meats and speaking w the meat department staff, giving excuses to not work. I left store planning to go to the local butcher in the next town and grab all my meat. not just the hamburge. I called in to explain how this has been offers for decades. just last month I went and had the burger make my order. The store customer service person could care less and just wanted off the phone.. never have I been disappointed with this store until today. if they continue this, I won't be buying any meat from them again and will take my other grocery needs elsewhere. if that means buying all my meat from the meat locker in the next town and the rest of groceries at the other food store up the hill. so be it.

Aldi recently had a makeover and I like it a lot better. You will see produce as you walk in now…read moreinstead of crackers and peanuts. This works better because it was very crowded where the produce was located before. The produce is usually fresh and most items are always available. The workers are always working hard to organize and restock the shelves, answer customers questions, and jumping on a register when the line starts to grow. The middle aisle which is called the aisle of shame has SO many different household and food items you never knew you needed. Each week they have new things. These items are only available for a limited time. Once they are gone, they are gone. You can find items for gifts, for your house, or for yourself! They have everything from candles to legos to ottomans. They have fresh meat and great frozen food. One of my favorite things is the different types of cheeses that are available. I also like that I am able to check myself out and bag my own groceries. The one thing that I think could use some improvement are the carts. A lot of them don't work and that means sometimes when it's busy they don't have any available. The prices at Aldi are affordable and cheaper than most grocery stores.

The cashiers and staff seem to have gotten a bit more cheerful and involved than in recent years. But the big deal here remains the prices and the quality. Aldi prices are consistently lower than any other grocery we visit, whether for meat, produce, or drinks. We're fond of fresh fish, and the Norwegian and Atlantic salmon they sell here is seriously fresher and lower priced than anywhere else in our area. We frequently buy their cut fruit, potatoes and onions and paper products, all god quality and sold at a solid discount. They have added a lot of checkout stations for shoppers in a hurry.
