Great little grocer in Plainville. Better than most big box grocers! Good people friendly service. All round good prices also.

I walked in and from first glance, you can tell it is a staple type establishment for those within the community of Plainville. A spot that folks love to hit up in the mornings and for lunch to get their day started and to keep it going. I always can appreciate a good home-style vibe. Jim's had a few patrons inside, all having conversations with the ladies behind the counter that were making food and then the gentleman at the register as well. I will say that when I walked up to the counter, one lady looked at me as if I had a third eye, scoffed and walked away but I didn't think much of it for she may have been having a bad morning....moments later the other Woman said, "What do you want?" in a questionable tone but again, I digress for they both looked flustered. I placed an order and simply walked to the register and proceeded to grab a few more items for my review. I started off with the Pastrami Reuben on hardroll. The roll was toasted for that crispy factor and the pastrami itself, was good. You really can't go wrong when the cut on the pastrami is just right and it has a nice cut about it. The sauerkraut was ok, nothing major to write home about to be honest and it had a nice savory sauce with some Swiss cheese that. complemented the sandwich. Moving along to their macaroni salad! The mayo was tangy, and the red onions drew in the flavor profile rather nicely. It was seasoned with pepper as well and with the macaroni cooked to near perfection, you couldn't go wrong here. Now their Bacon, Egg and cheese on a hard roll left much to be desired. More BREAD than egg and bacon....You could barely see it from the side, let alone taste anything. I was sadly disappointed in their excuse for a breakfast sandwich. It lacked style, ingredients and flavor. This brings us over to their Apple Crisp! Fresh apples, cinnamon and granola goodness that made up for the horrible breakfast sandwich. Each bite of the crisp sent harps my way to play me a melody of tasty treats. Not too bad but between their. questionable customer service and my breakfast sandwich, I can only give Jim's an overall score of 3.5.

Extra points for zero beef bouillon vibes, which is rarer than it should be. The fresh campanelle pasta was a great choice, but the dishes could have used a bit more sauce. As the meal went on, the pasta started to feel dry and a little lackluster. Chicken was cooked perfectly across the board, though the chicken breasts were very thick. Think hearty slabs, not thin Italian cutlets. Great panko crust, just a lot to get through if you are a thin cutlet lover like me.

"I found that I've become the owner Of a brand new book"…read more(Graham Parker) We sure do love our Italian delis and a brand new one we visited today is excellent. And that's no surprise because the Noto Americano Market is a spinoff of a restaurant, namely Plantsville's Noto Americano Sicilian Kitchen. The Market has pretty much everything you need for a great meal -a big imported grocery section, prepared salads and entrees, packaged deli, a salad bar, frozen food (including big chunks of octopus), frozen sauces and soups, deli and sandwich service, cookies, pastries, and cakes, pizza, fresh eggplant and chicken cutlets, and a nice dining section to sit and mangia. We found the customer service to be excellent, and the young gent that took our order was super friendly. We went home with a Gargantuan slice of cheese pizza as big as two normal slices for $5, a big chocolate cookie ($1.50), and a frozen package of cheese ravioli ($5.99 for 12 pieces). I thought the pricing was very reasonable. We just split that big slice of pizza for dinner and enjoyed it -thin crust, plenty of cheese, plenty of sauce and overall excellence across the board. No doubt we'll sample one of their grinders next time, and you can rest assure there will be a next time. I've already got my mind set on a Pisano, with Spicy Soppressata, Mortadella, Stracciatella cheese, arugula, Tomato, and a Pistachio Pesto Sauce. Doesn't that sound amazing?

I don't come to the Bristol area often, so I was excited to walk around and even do my weekly shopping. The store itself was clean, fairly well stocked, and busy. Of note, their frozen food section was beautiful... Clearly new cases and well appointed. To disappointing factors for me, however: 1. having nothing to do with the store, but it's clear the ShopRite corporation has discontinued its own private label, instead of going with a conglomerate private brand, Bowl and Basket. Well, the product may be as good or superior to the old ShopRite brand, it did nothing to evolve nostalgia, nor give me confidence in the new solution. I miss the days of ShopRite frozen pizza and mustard that were staples of my childhood. 2. The other disappointing factor was the overall pricing... It was completely outrageous compared to Stop & Shop's and other retailers in the area... Like, completely out of whack. The coffee I buy weekly at Stop & Shop even when not on special, was almost 5 dollars more expensive in this store... And it is not a glamorous brand. I was happy to revisit the store, appreciated seeing your old logo, it would actually buy a hooded sweatshirt or something if they had branded swag. But for me, this trip down memory lane was just that, and I departed the store and did my shopping elsewhere.
