Love this place, great high-quality tapes and scheduling is easy. Living in Astoria, it's also pretty much the closest self-tape studio.

I can't say enough good things about Gabriel's professionalism, talent, reasonability, personality, etc. My daughter & I were visiting family in NJ from the Gulf Coast. She's been obsessed with NYC for years and wanted to take her senior photos there. I scoured Yelp & Google reviews, sites, interacted with maybe 10 or so photographers. I'm so thankful we chose Gabriel. His prices are beyond reasonable, he has a unique talent of getting people to relax so that he can capture the perfect image for whatever purpose, he is prompt, communicative and makes the subject feel like they are all that matters. We had the joy of taking photos at the Met and in Times Square. Gabriel was patient with us and the end results are amazing. He returns first-looks and the final photos within 2-3 days -- unheard of with other professional photographers. He polishes the final photos, but doesn't go too far. He leaves the natural beauty to shine through. 5-stars all around!

He was prompt and thoughtful with his responses to my follow up questions. On the day of, he showed up with his warm personality and just knocked it out of the park!! Although I wanted outdoor photos, because it was windy, Gabriel got in as many outdoor shots as he could and then suggested we move indoors so I could really get the results I was looking for. After moving indoors, he made sure I had a full session with enough options to really make the session worth it for me. He's someone who truly cares about your experience. He was personable, accommodating, and genuinely a great person to hang out with for a couple hours. Because of his background in acting and his experience helping actors with their tapes, he knows how to help you relax and feel comfortable in your own skin in front of the camera. I need some new photos for another project I'm working on, and you bet I'm going back to Gabe for those!

I grew up a few blocks from this event and had no idea this place existed. It was a little difficult to locate but once we did, it was excellent. We were welcomed inside the studio with a table food of libations and finger foods. A plethora of props and ample space to take some photos. I waited till the end to get some photos, which I regret, but nonetheless, I still had an awesome time. Some folks enjoyed the lights camera action more than others, but everyone was engaged and seemingly had a blast with the camera guys, who were extremely welcoming and helpful. I reserved a spot online to avoid the hassle of not making the cut at the standby line. As a party of 1, I sat with another party of 1 and she was there to see Usama Siddiquee as well. What a coincidence! 2 item minimum and phones are put in a puffy mailer bag that you have on you until the rest of the show. Their beef yakitori skewers were juicy and tender! My cucumber gin drink was refreshing and not too strong. Each comedian that went up did such a great job with various styles of humor and experiences to share. I wasn't expecting a drop in but Marcello Hernandez from SNL went up and did some new material. God.. I love good surprises. Usama closed out the night strong and I was incredibly pleased with the show. Not gonna lie.. it was kismet that I got to shake their hands after their sets since my table was by the exit door. Def an evening I'll never forget!

Listen, I don't have to say much about this place. It's a staple. It's legendary. It's iconic. Been…read morecoming here for years, and it's never once been a bad time. Founded back in 1982 in a basement on MacDougal Street, and it's stayed almost exactly what it's always been: low ceilings, brick walls, candlelit tables packed close enough together that you're basically eavesdropping on the next table over whether you want to or not. Godfrey is a regular here, and he never fails to make me split my sides. He's been holding down rooms at this club for the better part of three decades at this point, and it shows every single time. Then there's the actual reason people fly in from out of town for this place: the surprise drop-ins. I got lucky and caught Kevin Hart doing a full 45-minute set for my friends visiting from out of town, completely unannounced. That's the magic of this room. Chappelle, Chris Rock, Seinfeld, half the biggest names in comedy have all quietly walked through that door to work out new material in front of a crowd that has no idea who's about to walk on stage next. Food and drinks are great, though pricey. Doesn't matter. You're paying for the room and the possibility of a night like that, and I'd happily pay triple just for the ticket alone with no food or drink involved. Only real knock: the door guys aren't especially friendly, and if you land on their bad side, they will kick you out, so tread carefully there. You also lock your phone away in a pouch the second you walk in, which sounds annoying and is actually the best part of the whole system, since it means the room is actually watching the show instead of filming it. Service moves fast and you barely notice them working around you. Just make sure you order everything you'll need up front, once the room gets going, they don't want anyone breaking the flow to flag down a waiter. A true New York institution, and worth every dollar.

This establishment upholds their vision as they want real people to get up close and personal with some of the their favorite artist. They actually have a few different taping throughout the day and with their own in house production team. I had the chance to sit right up front and film as much as I wanted--all they ask is that your phone or camera to have the flash disabled. They started the show off with playing his most recent music video. It was quite an awesome experience and the audience is super small perhaps about fifteen other people--not including the in house production team. The whole interview lasted about half an hour and they have time stowed away just for questions at the end. After the interview show the artist as well as the whole audience applaud and start as Music Soul Child departs. There is even a back door for when the artist take when they leave to hop in their cars. I was hoping for him to sing one of his songs but such a short show can't expect too much. The whole experience was pretty awesome and everyone checking guest in were super friendly and helpful as well! We used directions from Yelp, to take the subway, and walk. It was easy to find. There were two lines outside and one indoors. They had adequate barriers up for security and two bouncers controlled the crowds well. Inside, there is comfortable seating, like couches and chairs for easy viewing. It's great to witness. They had a metal detector/bag check also, for added protection. We'll be back!
