Roy is the absolute best. He is warm, personable, friendly, accommodating, professional, punctual, just...everything you could want in a taping studio owner. You really do become FRIENDS with him, and his staff. Speaking of his staff, everyone Roy hires...to be quite frank, is just like him. They're all so great. Seriously, I hope Skytown stays in this cool, funky location forever, but if they don't, I will follow him wherever they go. As mentioned, the service is EXCELLENT. Truly exceptional. They use skilled readers to tape and run lines with you, and will do as many takes as you need until you feel you'd nailed it. They'll give you constructive feedback and help too, to make sure you really do your best work! They'll then color correct all your final takes and slate, and make sure the audio is perfect. They ALWAYS find a way to squeeze you in, as they fully understand that auditions come in at all times, and usually just a day or so before the deadline. They'll also make sure to send the takes as downloadable files to you, your agent/manager, etc. The turn around time for your tapes is like 20 minutes? An hour? EVERYONE who works here is extremely friendly, personable, and accommodating. I just love them all. Seriously. AND CARLYYYYYYY!!!! The DOGGGGGGG. I LOVE HERRRRR SO MUCHHHH. I cannot say enough nice things about Roy and the team at SkyTown NYC! Roy came in an hour before opening to tape with me due to my need to get the tape out before a rehearsal. And his demeanor and passion for helping you achieve your best performance has helped me to make two wonderful tapes so far. They also now offer WEEKEND self-taping which comes in handy when you get the call from your agent Friday night to make a tape due Monday morning. FIVE STARS. Skytown is amazing, efficient, friendly, fast, professional, their lighting is GORGEOUS and they have saved my butt too many times to count with last-minute auditions. I have worked with Roy and Andrew (both trained actors) the most and I adore them. They have a clean, safe, comfortable environment and I have recommended them to so many of my other actor friends (and those friends have thanked me and now go to them all the time as well - which speaks for itself.) The best taping experience you can get! SkyTown was very accommodating to my near deadline and I'm so proud of the final tape. Skytown Entertainment is beyond amazing. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Roy is so accommodating and their facilities are top notch. I called at 9:30am with a same day 3pm deadline for a series reg audition for a network pilot. They were fully booked for the morning. After some maneuvering, Roy somehow magically squeezed me in for a 10:30 appointment that morning! Soon as I got to the studio, I was warmly welcomed by Phil who guided me towards Roy who is an actors dream to work with. I was able to take my time as Roy was very patient with me and assured me we would get what we needed. He let me do as many takes as I needed and was a wonderful reader giving me so much to work off of through every single take. Casting gave me very specific instructions for how they wanted each take, and Roy made sure they met the CD's requirements. We watched them together and readjusted lighting/position so that we could really get the perfect takes. The turnaround was lightning fast. I received my beautifully edited files in 90 minutes; I was able to get my tape to casting two hours before my deadline! I've been an actor for 10 years and have put myself on tapes for more auditions than I can count in both NY and LA. I've been to Skytown twice. The first time was early last year for a self tape audition. All went well. My second visit was to have my demo reel made up. Phil took care of everything. I had three clips that I wanted to use. Phil suggested that I put it in a particular order. I thought I knew it all and selected a different order. When it was done...well, Phil was right, lol. In a few short minutes, he'd switched the order around and I was giddy as a mug at how well my demo reel came out. These guys are the BOMB! I have found them to be incredibly willing to work with actors and our crazy schedules for self taping. They are kind and very aware of whatever might make you feel comfortable. It's a low stress environment, but don't let that think that the work is not top notch. They work with you to pick the take you like, edit and prep a link, very quickly, and with great results. I have worked with them a half dozen times, and always feel like they over deliver. These guys do a great job, made getting myself on tape for an out of state show easy. Their prices are great, but I don't understand why it wouldn't be flat hourly rate instead of charging extra for doing a second audition in that hour. So it's $75 for the hour and in my hour I did two different sets of sides which was an extra $15. Think they should review that... BUT! Still worth using! read more
