The store looked great and had a lot of products. There was 2 people working and they were frazzled and had no idea how to handle the customers. My turning point was when I heard a worked shout to a customer that "someone will be with you eventually". Be kind, especially with all the competition in the area. A handful of wine tastings at a winery should be in your wheelhouse. Not a cause for panic. read more

Covid update: open air market but wine tasting is still happening inside store with no ventilation. We stopped in to try some wine and buy some bottles but got zero service at the wine tasting counter so we left. Our kids went to play in river but it was overcome with algae and bugs at the shore. read more

We checked out this winery after getting a strong recommendation from a rep at Stone Cottage Winery. It's a great place! It's located on a river and there are lots of great places for a picnic or just to hang out, if you're looking to relax. It's really a peaceful place. Upon arrival we were offered a ride on their wagon for a group tour of the property. We didn't partake, but it was neat to know that exists, so something to consider if that's your thing! There is an extensive farm, and they have tons of peach trees on site. We wish we were there during peach season! The winery had all sorts of nibbles on offer. The one items my husband loved was the wood-fired pizza they made in their pizza oven. Such a fun treat! The wines were just ok. As I've mentioned in other reviews, CO wines just aren't my thing, so I really cannot dock any stars. However, the rep who poured our tastings was super nice and knowledgeable and made for a super fun time. I think sometimes it's all about the experience :) The tasting room also sells great olive oils and vinegars - the peach vinegar was great! I recommend giving those a try (they offer tastings). They also sell food items (mainly packed items such as pastas, honeys, sauces, etc.) and other products (looked to me locally made touristy-type items - we didn't spend much time checking those out, though). If you're looking for a chill spot to try wines, hang out in nature, and perhaps even get a wagon tour, this is a fun place to check out! read more

The winery is located next to the river, a great location! You can sit back and enjoy the afternoon. However, the Chardonnay wine is less than desirable. It had a very unusual smoky smell and flavor. I hate to say this but it was the worst Chardonnay we ever tasted. I cannot comment on the red but avoid the Chardonnay. The winery should cut their losses and pull this stuff off the shelf. read more

This place has a gorgeous setting and lots of places to take fun pictures among other things... You walk into a large open barn that has freshly grown veggies & fruits from the area, an aged basalmic vinegar that is to die for, and their own homemade cheeses. The guys that were there were lots of fun and wanted to make it an enjoyable time for us. They showed us how eating foods and wine that come from the same region can really change the flavors of both.. that was interesting! I enjoyed their pinot noir. read more

Didn't have any wine but I can however give 5 stars based on their variety of fruits and veggies and EVERYTHING is "pick your own", if you want to. The atmosphere is so laid back and leisurely that you will want to stay here for the day strolling through the orchards or walking through the vegetable garden. They have raspberries, blackberries, peach, apples, pumpkins, tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupes and everything in between! When you're done walking around, you can spend some time tasting wine or having your own bottle seated by the river in one of the many places they've set up to put your feet up. While the wines offered by Black Bridge are good, the winery is worth stopping at just for the setting along the North Fork Gunnison River. There are plenty of orchard and vineyards to explore. A great time to come is during harvest season. Don't forget the pumpkin picking, too. read more

This winery is a great place to relax and soak up the sun by the beautiful river. We spent the good part of two afternoons here recently with the temperatures in the 90's. The river isn't overpowering and was delightfully cold but we didn't care. The shop is a cute little place and offers a decent amount of options. The wine is so/so offering mostly dry options for the area. A must try is the spicy pickles and garlic - all homemade. read more

The bonus of Black Bridge Winery is that not only do they have lots of good wines to taste (and buy) they also have a little store that carries tons of local food products. You can purchase everything from fancy cheeses (to pair with your wines!) to local apiary honey, from salsas to grill marinades. The winery's heralded vintage is a Pinot Noir and they make two different bottles of it. Both are awesome. They actually grow the grapes themselves in their vineyard for the wine. In addition to the Pinot, Black Bridge makes some red blends, a Merlot, Chardonnay, and Riesling. The tasting room is bigger than many of the others I saw in the area and the folks there are super friendly. I would definitely be interested in checking out some of their wine dinners and will be back to sample (and buy) more of their wines the next time I'm in the area! read more

A lovely winery. Their setting right on the river is beyond beautiful. Their selection of prepared foods is amazing. I picked up some chocolate merlot dessert sauce, cherry amaretto jelly, and blackberry walnut dressing. Their wines are pretty darn good, and I like the fact that the only label many of their bottles bear is a strip of off-white with a handwritten font. It's got a story behind it, and it's uber-cute and simple. E and I splurged on an '08 Pinot Noir and thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

Black Bridge is a quaint little winery in Paonia, Colorado. We stopped by at a family reunion and the place was great! I tasted a very large variety of wine (about 8 different wines) as well as a balsamic vinegar that was radical. The gentleman pourer was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of time to taste and talk about each wine. He was very engaging and I was very happy with the wines! I bought a Pinot Noir that was delicious as well as some local blue goat cheese and some honey made by the bees that pollinate the wine grapes on the vineyard. Next time I head to my Aunt's house, I'll pop in again for sure. read more

This establishment is not ADA compliant or disability friendly. I was not "allowed" here with my service animal; I was sworn at and treated with extreme disrespect. My advice is to support a different local winery and orchard. read more

We stopped here at the end of the season to pick up a few bottles of wine to take back to LA with us. The wine was good but the service by the gentleman giving samplings was less than stellar. He focused on one couple and we felt a bit uncomfortable. read more

On the upside, Black Bridge is a great place to visit. We loved the wines and assorted locally made products for sale. Chairs were set up next to the river with nice views. Initially, my girlfriend wasn't greeted by anyone for several minutes (while I was in the restroom), not by the female owner at the counter or her husband. When I entered, I was properly greeted and then they finally acknowledged my girlfriend. The male owner then gave us some great samples of wine and we bought a few bottles for our collection. We were offered peach sundaes (a special event for the day) but had to turn them down as we had just finished a large breakfast in town. We visited on our trip through Colorado Wine Country over Labor Day Weekend 2013. Cute store with a great selection of prepared foods. We had fun walking around and gathering many items to take back over the mountains with us. We had a difficult time getting someone to help us with the tasting as there was only one person working that day (at that time) and about 10 people in the store. But we waited and enjoyed the tasting and bought several bottles. We also bought lunch and ate it on the property by the stream. read more
