Restrooms and additional picnic tables are available as well, but make sure you have a permit before having a party at the tables (call 205-281-7950 for permits) and note you are NOT allowed to have birthday parties under the pavilion per city ordinances. The Children's Park is located across the parking lot from the Fultondale Bark Park and you can also reach the Rails to Trails, 3.4 mile, running path from the park (note, it's a 3 mile trail if you start from The Children's Park and run left, take the path on the right and you're .4 miles from Black Creek Park). If you're looking to lengthen your run, the park itself has a gravel trail that runs the perimeters. If you take the path surrounding the park, you'll also meet up with Black Creek, there are a handful of benches to lounge on as your enjoy the sound of running water. This park has plenty of open spaces if you're looking to run around, lots of trees and plenty of parking. Two things to note: the front gate of the playground is regularly broken, so much so that it will not open enough to get a stroller or wheel chair through. There are two side gates you can use. Also, the park shoulders Stouts Road, which can have very high traffic, and only has a farm fence stopping children from running into the street. Definitely use caution if you have wandering little ones. Otherwise, look for the statues of the giraffe, fish, elephant, hippo and more and have a great time!

This place is a genuine oasis in the middle of the city and I was amazed at how easily the weight of stress from my soul and removed any heaviness of my heart. Rotary Trail is an amazing place and is just another great piece of the puzzle that is Birmingham, Alabama. We need places like Rotary Trail, places to gather in respite and recreation. This is an absolutely wonderful place and just another reason that Birmingham, Alabama is one of my favorite cities in the United States. Years ago, I brought my students here on a field trip. There are healthy eating classes and workout classes offered in the warmer months. Check their FB page or website for exact times and dates. One of the coolest parts of this park is watching the trains go by. It's not called Railroad Park for no reason, lol. Parking can be tricky when there's an event being held here. But that's no fault of the park itself. There's nothing like a peaceful walk in the park and this park is the perfect place to do just that. Come visit!

It does these two things phenomenally well. There are a few benches, trash bins, doggie bags, educational signage, and parallel parking. The trail connects to the overall system of Mountain Brook Sidewalks and Trails and is part of the Red Rock Ridge & Valley Trail System. So if you're coming to run here be prepared to do some sidewalk running as well to get decent miles in. It's a nice change of scenery, but not really a destination park.

Gorgeous park! I believe within the last couple years they've finished some additional…read moremileage/bridges/wided sidewalks. This is an incredible walking trail. Especially over the summer, it's entirely shaded. I like to park near Mason Music in Mtn Brook Village and start from there to maximize the length of the trail I can do. It is an out and back situation, which isn't ideal, but this is finished so nicely you can't complain. Lots of benches, dog pop stations, etc along the way.
