This place does not have food, no food menu! Came here on a Wednesday night around5:30pm, sat at the bar, and there was one other person in the bar and the bartender was being trained and said "welcome to the black hole have you been here before" when I sat down. The staff were friendly but it felt ominous. I had to ask for a menu, and I got a beer, an IPA. They do not have an extensive menu and did not have their liquor on the menu. It was a weird place, it looks like a dive but it acts like a sports bar. Not a fan. read more

If you're looking for a good old fashioned dive, Black Hole Bar has you covered! We've been here a couple times in our visits to Chicago, and it never lets down when we're looking for some upbeat music, dancing, pool, and affordable drinks. We've never had any issue getting drinks, as the bartenders are always fast and friendly. There are usually movies playing on the TVs behind the bar, and there's a juke box for those who enjoy subjecting other unsuspecting patrons to your favorites songs (a.k.a. me). The pours are heavy, the tunes are loud, and the vibes are on point for those seeking that quintessential dive experience. Love it! read more

This is a very fun spot tucked away in Wicker! The happy hour deals were absolutely insane. We got 4 margaritas for $15!! Felt like I was back in a college town. There is a fun pool table right at the front that you can play at as well. Overall very chill and vibey with the music and lights! Would definitely go back again. read more

Been to this location a couple times and always love the ambiance here. Always very chill with pool players (and the occasional adorable dog). I was hangout out here after I drank a drink from Wake n Bakery and was feeling super zooted. But I was watching so many different movies while drinking on the cocktail the bartender made especially for me. I just asked for something sweet and she delivered. Love that they were playing The Barbershop, Harry Potter, and Now You See Me, just to name a few movies. I remember I came another time and ordered a purple drink and it was delicious. Reviewing after seeing the owners comment - I have no idea how this place has such great reviews. The photos are deceiving. We walked in around 6:30 PM and there were around 8 men inside who all stared at us as we walked in. Yes, a hello was said by the person behind the bar. However the immediate vibe and sense myself and my two girlfriends got was one of discomfort upon entering this place. We felt out of place and immediately sensed something in our gut was off. Rather than doing a circle and walking right back out, we did walk to the back and sit at a table across from the bar to try to determine our next move. We pulled out our phones and looked for an alternative place to visit. Once deciding upon a place, we quickly left. Moreover, as we spent the evening in the area, we did walk by again later in the evening (around 10 PM) and glanced through the windows. Wow! The service here this past Friday was more like get the hell out of here I hate my job! Service was bad- I mean I get we have bad days and it could have been that. But bartender would talk and not even look at u, so I was confused at times when he was asking for my order. It just seemed everything I asked for was a big bother to him. Although the drinks are great, the service at Black Hole is absolutely awful. It a running joke that this bar has the worst service on Division which is extremely frustrating because their drinks are delicious. If you go be sure to have a lot of patience and order 2 drinks at a time. Their food also leaves a lot of room for improvement. At one point they had food although I'm not sure what direction the bar is moving in now. I ordered their chicken sandwich. The black hole is a unique experience. Great place to bring your wife or a date, the people are always friendly. The windows and doors are wide open to rush in fresh air. This bar makes the best titos soda with 3 lemons! The ambience is fun! At night there is good dance music and a jukebox that allows patrons to play music from their phones, which is cool because you get a lot of different genres of good/hip music! The bartenders are very attentive and a lot of times they will be working on my drink before I order because they already know what I like to drink! This bar is borderline "Cheers' style bar, "where everybody knows your naaAAAamme" Solid people here, a down to earth owner and a great place to just chill and maybe meet other people if that's what you're into. This place was great. It wasn't annoyingly crowded like a lot of bars I've been to in Chicago so far. The drinks were so good, and extremely cheap! I got the Malcom Reynolds. It tasted like an arnold palmer. So good! Plus it was only 9 bucks! Right now they have cute little Harry Potter decorations up, so it was just all around fabulous. read more

BH has been a wonderful neighborhood bar for many; Unfortunately as time passes you realize many of its regulars / staff are sleazy, toxic and unsafe. The owner (and other regulars) can be handsy with female customers, which is uncomfortable and unasked for at best. The pool playing community is a respawn location for men and boys to measure their dick, very obnoxious and unwelcoming to newer female players. Don't get me wrong, there are wonderful people who frequent this bar (and at least one male bartender who is wonderful) but unfortunately the rest of the staff and community is sloppy, toxic and unsafe. Too many bad stories of assault / discomfort have come out of this space for me or my friends to go here anymore. Don't even bother if you're a customer with a conscience, go to a bar that values the safety and comfort of all guests. read more

Just went here for the first time last week and I'm itching to go back! It's clean and chic well also having a dive bar sort of vibe, which I loved. Drinks are good and affordable, bartenders are great. Honestly blown away by a clean bathroom these days like there was hand lotion ok werkkkk...There's also a pool table if that's your thing and a patio for warmer weather. This is a nice, cozy restaurant and bar, and they really go all out with the decorations during the holidays. We ordered the special (haddock) and the clam chowder. The food was a bit hit or miss. The clam chowder was watery and came out lukewarm. The entrée was much better, the haddock was amazing hot, fresh, and crispy! Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also lukewarm, although the fries were piping hot. We've been here many times before, especially during the holidays, and it has never disappointed us. Maybe this was just an off night, with some of the dishes not coming out as hot or fresh as they should have been. We'll come back and give it another try the next time we're in the area.

I'm not quite sure what the sauce was, but I was not a huge fan of it and just opted for the ketchup. Overall, LOVED my food. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Best Intentions. The service was quick and quite lovely as well. I loved their patio seating. To note, I stopped by during the week at around 5-6pm, and I had no trouble getting a seat! I will definitely return when I'm craving a burger!

Was always my go-to bar, decided to leave a review now that the next door Easy Bar management is literally coming over, verbally harassing Black Hole customers and staff, and writing fake negative reviews because nobody wants to party there with their "wear a facemask, no dancing, don't you dare have any fun on a Friday night" bullshit and Black Hole Bar is getting all the clout. Bar far the best bar in the neighborhood! My friends and I love this spot and the owner Edward. All through Covid has made it hard for small businesses to survive, I'm happy to see that the Black Hole is still here. They also have a great outdoor patio space. read more
