After many years of walking past Miller's Pub I finally had the opportunity to have dinner there. The inside of the pub is dark wood with lots of pictures of the family that owns Miller's Pub plus pictures of celebrities who have been there. The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant. read more

We came here after a show on a Friday night. It was busy but not overly crowded, so we were able to get seats pretty easily. This is a nice, cozy restaurant and bar, and they really go all out with the decorations during the holidays. We ordered the special (haddock) and the clam chowder. The food was a bit hit or miss. The clam chowder was watery and came out lukewarm. The entrée was much better, the haddock was amazing hot, fresh, and crispy! Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also lukewarm, although the fries were piping hot. We've been here many times before, especially during the holidays, and it has never disappointed us. Maybe this was just an off night, with some of the dishes not coming out as hot or fresh as they should have been. We'll come back and give it another try the next time we're in the area. read more

I recently tried this local staple for the first time. I wanted to get bbq and they claim on their sign to have the (best ribs) More on that in a moment. I entered the place on a Wednesday night and it wasn't busy at all. They ave a security guard posted at the door for reasons unknown to me but raised an eyebrow. The host greeted and seated me right away. I was seated at a booth that had lots of crumbs on the seats which says to me you're need retrained at cleaning especially since the place was slow. The server was very nice and helpful but I didn't get his name unfortunately. I iordered the half slab of ribs and 1/4 chicken with side of green beans which also came with corn on cob and Cole slaw. I also had a slice of apple pie to go. Everything came out pretty quick and temp was good. Sorry no pics this time though but it resembles what others have posted. So let me just jump right in on the ribs. They were ABSOLUTELY no where to being on a top 10 list of ribs so not sure where or who gave them the title of (best) but it definitely falls in the category of false advertisement. They were pretty tough and flavor was average at best. The chicken was moist and pretty good as were all the sides. The best part for me was the apple pie. Definitely changed my mood after the disappointment of the ribs. I'm not condemning this place but I can't recommend it either based on the misleading rib statement so proceed with caution! read more

Our friend's made reservations for late lunch. We were all happy with our food choices. I got the iconic turkey pot pie. It was tasty but super rich. The ribs were prepared the way my friend liked. The pastrami reuben was tasty. . Our young waiter was in training and he and his mentor were very friendly and checked on us often. We came in for a drink and some a/c on a scorcher of a day and I liked the service and atmosphere in Millers. From outside I thought it would be a dive but not at all, it's a classic Chicago Tavern. My boyfriend and I had an early dinner here on New Year's Eve and it was a lot of fun. Festive decorations, excellent service from Vicky, and delicious food. We also tried their famous Tom and Jerry cocktail and loved it! So good!! Vicky was very kind, answered menu questions, and provided recommendations. Everything looks so good and I definitely need to come back. Relaxed atmosphere and spacious interior. Lots of seating and yet still makes you feel like you have privacy. I really appreciated all the holiday decorations. They really did a wonderful job. I really enjoyed the fish and chips. The fish was haddock and it was fantastic, and the batter was so crispy. Even the tartar sauce was homemade. The fries were excellent, as well as the side of coleslaw. I also ordered a side Caesar salad. My boyfriend enjoyed his French dip sandwich too. We ordered the spanakopita for our appetizer and that was amazing! So flaky and flavorful. They offer it as an entree and I'll have to order it next time so I can have more. I really liked the atmosphere. Exactly what you think of when you are thinking of a downtown Chicago bar and restaurant. Lots of pictures on the wall, TV's showing all types of sporting events and plenty of activity and noise. Tom & Jerry's are the specialty drink (it's the holiday's). Had to try one because my mother used to make them every Christmas. I have to say it wasn't bad... but could compare to mom's (but haven't ever found one that could!) Had a reservation but he sat at the bar for a while because we were early. Table was ready pretty much right on time. Our waiter was very nice, but he was either a little distracted or overworked, maybe both! Got our appetizer, but no plates or silverware (had to flag him down to get some). Food also showed up missing some items. He happily made everything right, just took awhile. Some of the food was good some not so much. We both got salads that were drenched in dressing and we also didn't love the Onion Rings Appetizer (they looked a lot better than they tasted, great breading tasteless onions). I had the Prime Rib French Dip. That was pretty good and my wife had the Rueben. That was decent too. I'd go back because the place was cool and enjoyed the sandwiches. read more

Had a great time at millers pub! Chris at the bar was friendly and personable and welcomed me in like he knew me. Great lively atmosphere and plenty of draft selections to choose from. French dip sammy hit all the right feels and was tasty. I wish the horseradish sauce had a bit more horseradish to give it more zip but it was a great sandwich all around. Atmosphere is extremely important to me, especially when I'm looking for a place to unwind after an event. After leaving the symphony, we wanted somewhere nearby to grab a meal and have a good conversation, so we ended up at Miller's Pub at 134 S. Wabash. My colleague had made a reservation, but honestly, it didn't seem necessary, you can easily walk in. Miller's Pub is a longtime Chicago staple, and we were seated quickly. The space is much larger than it appears, with a classic Irish pub feel and an antique charm that gives it a lot of character. Our server was enthusiastic, attentive, and very accommodating throughout the night, which we appreciated. Food-wise, we ordered a variety of dishes. I kept it simple with a salad topped with carrots and chicken, it was just okay, nothing particularly memorable. One of my colleagues ordered a chicken sandwich, and another got what might have been the most massive fish tender I've ever seen. If I ate fish, I definitely would've tried it, and she said it was really good. Unfortunately, what really impacted our experience was the atmosphere. There was a choir conference happening nearby, and a large group of attendees came into the pub and started singing, loudly and continuously, throughout the evening. While it was entertaining for the first couple of songs, it quickly became overwhelming and disruptive. It didn't seem like other patrons were enjoying it either, there was little to no engagement or applause, and I found myself wishing the staff had stepped in to tone things down a bit. I understand that a bar environment can bring in all kinds of energy, but this went on far too long and really took away from the experience we were hoping to have. Based on the food alone, I'd give Miller's Pub 3 out of 5 stars. But factoring in the overall experience, it's closer to a 2.5 out of 5 for me. read more

I love coming to this place! Even when it is packed and there's a wait, we always get a booth, sometimes it's the same one we always get lol I've tried a few things from the menu and can say that everything is good so far! This time I went in on a Wednesday night and was surprised to find the place packed but we were able to get our usual booth (we never ask for it we're just coincidentally sat there almost everytime we come in.) I tried the Caesar salad, as I have been eyeing it for a while, and my partner was finally able to get their famous chicken pot pie. It is always sold out so we had not been able to try it for a while. Everything was delicious. The chicken pot pie was the star of the show. The filling was so nice and thick. The pie crust was superb. The Caesar salad was delicious but I would order it without capers next time as they were too salty for my liking. It is a great serving too. I would definitely recommend the pie though as it was so delicious . The fish n chips is always a favorite as well as their chicken wings. So good I went back three times in one week! This was my first trip to Chicago, and since I was staying at the Palmer House, everyone recommended Miller's Pub. At first, I wondered what all the hype was about--then I had my first meal. Night one: BBQ ribs with salad and mashed potatoes. Those mashed potatoes instantly became my obsession--I ordered them every single time I came back (even as a side with lunch). The ribs were fantastic, the shrimp was delicious, and one night I got ambitious and ordered the prime rib. I didn't realize how popular it was--I snagged one of the last pieces, and minutes later they were sold out. Beyond the food, the service was incredible. Every staff member treated me like family. I ate solo each night with my headphones in, and they never made me feel out of place--just comfortable and welcomed. The atmosphere has that cozy, homey vibe--like the go-to restaurant hangout you'd see on a classic sitcom. Honestly, Miller's feels like a true Chicago gem. I didn't want to go far from my hotel, so I hung out here and had a few beers. I didn't have anything to eat in my two times here. The beer selection was "fine"? Midwest bars tend to make some surprising choices about what they find interesting, and even in Chicago that's no exception; everything on the beer list seemed picked not to offend. After taking a break from the Art Institute, we decided to get some lunch and learned we were only a couple blocks away from Miller's Pub. We've been here before (they really decorate for the holidays!) and have always had good food and service. Miller's is a nice place to get a meal without being crazy expensive, but still nice. I enjoyed my patty melt and fries and my boyfriend liked his bacon bleu burger. Our server, Jessica, was very attentive, especially with drink refills and making sure my boyfriend didn't get old crusty coffee (she brewed a fresh pot). I'll come back here! read more

Order was wrong, too late to make it correct due to concert start time. I was okay with lamb instead of pork but don't charge me for the more expensive item. I had to ask to have it changed. Personally, I think the entire entree should have been free at that point (server admitted to the mistake). Wait staff needs to listen instead of talking while taking orders. Trying to hurry and anticipate orders because its busy is a recipe for disaster. Listen and write down orders. Food is good and drinks top notch. Ok - not gonna lie! Agree with most this place has all the ambience you're ever going to want or need. Stopped in here with my kid. And from Chicago, but live in Houston. I've lived outside of Chicago for almost 30 years now but come back frequently. I've heard of Miller's pub but never ever stepped in until today. Somebody told me the ribs here were just phenomenal. And the guy that told me competes in the Houston rodeo bbq cook off at the Houston rodeo. So I came to try them. If I'm being honest, I am going to have to have a talk with that guy. I thought the ribs were kind of dry. The coleslaw was good and the fries were like McDonald's fries but everyone knows McDonald's fries are yummy. They have this hot habanero mustard sauce that is out of this world. I'm not giving Rave reviews here. It was a tad better than ok, but I had an expectation. Everyone knows the biggest problem in any relationship is unmet expectations. Hey... it's good folks. And I will likely come again. And try something other than the ribs. In health and happiness! Both were delicious. The bbq burger was great. The bacon was crispy, burger perfectly cooked to my medium request. The fries were a bit soggy, but still good. My friends got some hot drinks including the Tom and Jerry and the hot buttered rum. Both were delicious! The service was great. This is the place to go if you want ribs, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother. The atmosphere is loud, which is great if you enjoy the kind of restaurant where you have to yell across the table to be heard. Once we were seated it took a very long time for our waiter to visit our table for the first time. If I'm being honest, it took so long that had I been by myself I would have gotten up and left. My husband had the ribs and they were great, but my Greek salad was boring and lacked flavor. It definitely wasn't with the $18.95 I paid for it. The Mediterranean plate appetizer was better than the salad by a long shot. Unless I decide that I really want ribs, I probably won't ever go back. I love Miller's Pub! No trip to downtown Chicago is complete without stopping at Miller's for a drink and an appetizer. It is an old school pub restaurant that has been open and operated by the same family since 1935. It has the traditional pub look with dark walls and dim lighting. The dining area is large as is the bar area. Even though they can get busy there usually isn't a long line to get seated and many times you can score a spot at the bar. They have a full menu with many great choices including their prime rib (classic or as a sandwich open faced), burgers, ruebens and Greek entrées such as spanakopita and lamb. I can't get past their spinach and artichoke dip with the deep-fried pita. I order it as an appetizer and have never been able to finish it yet. It's plain delicious and every time I come here I tell myself try something new but keep going back to it. If I'm solo I like to sit at the bar. The same bartender, Kevin, has been working here for 30 years. He's nice and won't steer you in the wrong direction if you're sitting on the fence of what to order. I happen to love their Old Fashioned. It's made classically with the large square ice cube and the dark purple cherry. It's perfection in a glass and even at $16 a drink it's worth it. Hey it's downtown so everything is expensive. Located at Wabash and Adams Miller's is easy to get to whether on foot or from the El train which goes right over head in front of the building. I believe they have parking across the street as well.
