I've been to MoneyGun twice now, and I keep going back for one reason...the buffalo taquitos. My goodness...they are so delicious. You only get two per order, but they're so good you won't mind ordering another round. They do have other flavors, but at this point, the buffalo ones are a must every time. The drinks are also really good and a little different from most places. They put thought into their cocktails, sometimes using things like pure cane sugar and unique combinations that still taste great. Definitely recommend Brandon as a bartender...he did his thing. The vibe is dark and moody, which I love, and they even ring a little bell at the bar. Right next door is Sunnygun, their brighter, brunch style spot, which makes for a cool night to day contrast, even though I haven't tried it yet. I've always sat at the bar, and service has been great. MoneyGun has become one of our go to bars, and we'll definitely be back. read more

Such a cute cocktail bar. We came here to speed up the time for a reservation we were waiting for but got a little confused because once we walked in we didn't know if it was open seating or what so we wandering around a bit. We got seated by the door and waited for our waiter. Service was alright not that great but the happy hour was amazing. We got the Apple martini and expresso martini which comes with a side of waffle fries which complimented well with the drinks. It was such a great place to catch up or a little date night. I really, really wanted to love this place. We came at 5pm on a Friday before dinner reservations in west loop. $10 dirty martini that comes with waffle fries on happy hour?! The martini was tasty and definitely a good value for $10 happy hour. The service was just plain bad. I felt like we were being punked. When you walk in, there's no mention if you should wait to be seated or seat yourself. After wandering around aimlessly for a few minutes, we asked a server who just air wafted us to a table. She was our server, and came over and said zero words, but waited for us to order and then tell us they were out of those cocktails. Right when you open? Could've mentioned before. She seemed mad and I sincerely hope she took care of whatever she needed to mentally, because she was carrying it with her to every table. Ooo! I love this place. I love everything about it. And I can over look its flaws because I love it so much. I decided to spend my last hour of my birthday here for a night cap. The vibe is dope! If you're older, get yourself a nice cozy booth with your boo or friends, have an old school cocktail and just vibe out to the music. The DJ was killing with classics from the 2000s and hip hop of course. They also threw in some afrobeat and we knew it was going to be a vibe. I had a painkiller and Mai tai and they were awesome! Mai tai is very strong so beware! My boyfriend had a margarita which was decent and my friends had espresso martini and a manhattan (wouldn't recommend this one there though). Overall, for a nice drink with great ambience at the 15.00 price point, it was dope. I will say the flaw is customer service. Our server wasn't very warm and there was a staff member we asked to take a photo and they said no! The manager is very nice and accommodating. Eat before you go! They don't really have anything to eat on the menu that's worth ordering. It's small bar snacks. If hungry, maybe the wings are fine but that's it. They also have another side of the bar where there's a longer bar but it's standing room and a live DJ playing music. It's crowded and kind of standing room only, where the young folks go! Along one edge of the wall of the bar is a list of classic cocktails that they make, but I opted to try the monthly specials because I like making drinks myself and want to see how they do the more special or complex drinks. We got the Baby Keem which is a coffee alcohol drink in slushie form and another I forgot the name that is quite strong but has nice herbal notes. You can count on familiar drinks even for the monthly specials, perfect for the comfort of knowing what to expect. This is good for small and large groups, but it can get busy during the weekend nights so I'd recommend checking this place out in off hours for faster service and less wait times. Moneygun was a great experience. No cover, great music (I think it was mostly EDM), might be a little loud for some people, but I really enjoyed it; place had a great vibe. Moneygun really is that b****. Just had to say it. The drinks here really do live up to the hype - they make some dang good classic cocktails and can literally make any drink you want. Their menu consists of all the classic cocktails you can think of. I absolutely love their martinis specifically here, and I love that all the drinks are all priced the same at $15. They have a waffletini happy hour from 5-7pm Tuesday-Friday where you can get a Classic Gin or Vodka Martini, Dirty Martini, Apple-tini, Cosmo, or Espresso Martini with a side of waffle fries for $10. I love this deal and come here primarily for it. It's also super dim-lit, sexy vibes inside. Your eyes adjust but at first you can barely see anything LOL especially if you're coming in during day time. Either way I love the speakeasy vibe inside. I feel like I am going to the Drs office and not knowing my bill until later. Went to Money Gun with a hidden bar tour I found on Air B&B which this was the first bar we went to. The sights & history was nice. The drinks were ok compared to the other places we visited. We went inside it was dark but mysterious, walked up to the service bar and that's when the waitress walked up and said you all can have a seat & I'll serve you. So we did & one of the tourists with us gave a. Moneygun unfortunately does not live up to its hype as a must-go cocktail bar in Chicago. I had been wanting to come here for awhile but was underwhelmed with my experience here. I want to come back in the summer and see if my impression of the place is changed at all if I'm able to sit on the patio. We came around 5pm for a Friday happy hour. The space felt a bit dingy with low red lighting, a strange layout, and outdated flooring and office ceiling tiles. We were able to sit down at a both right away which was nice. Our group came for the happy hour special-- the special includes a variety of martinis with a free side of fries for each drink you order. I found it off-putting that the establishment had no paper menus. When I asked the waitress for one, she looked at me as if I was crazy! The last thing I want to be doing is scrolling in the dark through a bar or restaurant's website and having to zoom into read every detail as I'm trying to order and socialize with my friends. We had a variety of cocktails: espresso martinis, cosmos, and appletinis to name a new. I had an appletini and really enjoyed the cocktail. They also had dirty martinis as part of the happy hour special. I think the drinks here are good and would come back in the summer at sit on the patio and be out of the cramped inside. It seemed as though they were rationing the fries during happy hour because each of our drinks came with literally 2-4 singular fries and that's it. I understand it's a special and I wasn't expecting anything crazy but it would have been nice to have more than a Costco sample size. One of the coolest cocktail bars! The space is dark and moody with fun neon lights. The space feels classy and elevated and the branding is on point! The door is a bit discrete but I think that adds to the aesthetic. For a Sunday night, it was actually quite busy. Moneygun has an extensive drink menu that's a nice mix of classic cocktails and fun, unique combinations. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable with the drinks on the menu. We got the last word, clover club, and Negroni. All were delicious but loved the texture of the egg white on the clover club! I wouldn't normally order a Cosmopolitan as they're sometimes good, sometimes boring, and sometimes unbalanced. However, Kelsey made an excellent one during our most recent visit. Packed with all the right, balanced flavors. Not all booze and not all sugar. It was great! If you're looking for parking while in the area, highly suggest using Spot Hero so you can extend your time online easily. They have a smaller area where the music is a little less for groups that are wanting to engage in more of a conversation and vibes and then they have another section where the music is a little bit louder And still good vibes. The bartenders and servers are amazing. There is no cover to get in. They do have a small food menu to drink. Don't forget to ask the server for card so that you can go through the various drinks and get a punch on your card. They also have an email that you can sign up for discounts updates and specials. The inside is dark and serious but the patio feels like a friend's party in the best way possible. I got the Miami vice and it was absolutely outstanding - strong but not overpowering, the perfect level of sweet. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their cocktails as well. We all had an excellent time. Cannot stress enough how great the server was too, she was covering the whole patio as far as I could tell and was handling it like a powerhouse.
