(Kari's Rating 7.75/10) Place was like a louder ramen San. Lighting is a red dark speakeasy vibe. Marg was pretty fire. Came here with 8 friends for my girlfriend's birthday and we had to push our own tables together, but these rice was pretty good. Waiter was attentive and got drinks out pretty fast. Would come back but not out of my way. Fries were really crispy and hot, came with hot sauce and garlic aoli.

I really, really wanted to love this place. We came at 5pm on a Friday before dinner reservations in west loop. $10 dirty martini that comes with waffle fries on happy hour?! The martini was tasty and definitely a good value for $10 happy hour. The service was just plain bad. I felt like we were being punked. When you walk in, there's no mention if you should wait to be seated or seat yourself. After wandering around aimlessly for a few minutes, we asked a server who just air wafted us to a table. She was our server, and came over and said zero words, but waited for us to order and then tell us they were out of those cocktails. Right when you open? Could've mentioned before. She seemed mad and I sincerely hope she took care of whatever she needed to mentally, because she was carrying it with her to every table. The music was good, but it was so dimly lit at 5pm that it was disorienting and didn't feel like a happy hour vibe, but had plenty of people standing at the bar. If I were to go back, maybe late night it's better? Or maybe after a few cocktails?

A true cocktail bar. The drinks are always amazing and the music even better. They've been having alot more events here the past few months which I enjoy as well

Loved the red, cozy vibes here. Came on a Friday night at 5pm and was able to get a booth with 2 other friends. Enjoyed martinis with a side of seasoned waffle fries for each drink we ordered (happy hour special). Great music and friendly staff. Stayed for a few hours. Would be back to try more cocktails! I ordered cosmopolitan all night and my friends ordered dirty martinis (unfortunately it was weird they only had cheese stuffed olives and not regular (they are vegan so couldn't enjoy olives with their drink)).

Excuse my photo of half empty drinks and fries, but the happy hour deal here is too good! Go get yourself a waffle tini special !!

Stopped by for a quick drink and everyone in the group loved what they got. The menu is full of classic cocktails, and they do them really well. I had a Cosmopolitan and it was yum -- balanced, crisp, and just the right amount of tart and sweet. The vibe is lively but laid-back, making it an easy spot to pop into for one drink or stay a little longer. Definitely a solid go-to for well-made cocktails without the fuss.

Walk in only speakeasy bar that had a somewhat old school vibe. Along one edge of the wall of the bar is a list of classic cocktails that they make, but I opted to try the monthly specials because I like making drinks myself and want to see how they do the more special or complex drinks. We got the Baby Keem which is a coffee alcohol drink in slushie form and another I forgot the name that is quite strong but has nice herbal notes. You can count on familiar drinks even for the monthly specials, perfect for the comfort of knowing what to expect. This is good for small and large groups, but it can get busy during the weekend nights so I'd recommend checking this place out in off hours for faster service and less wait times. Otherwise, you'll be playing like musical chairs for a table.

Great cocktail bar! This spot is all about the classic cocktails - they even have a 30 cocktail punch card, to get you through the 30 classics! We came here on a Friday night during happy hour and it was a popular spot for sure, and I see why! Kyle, the bartender, was KILLING IT ! He was pushing out high quality drinks all night long... probably one of the best espresso martinis that I've ever had! We also came back on a Sunday evening, and it was much quieter, chill vibes. They also serve food. Decent amount of booth, table and bar seating. Would definitely recommend this spot, especially if Kyle is behind the bar!

Moneygun really is that b****. Just had to say it. The drinks here really do live up to the hype - they make some dang good classic cocktails and can literally make any drink you want. Their menu consists of all the classic cocktails you can think of. I absolutely love their martinis specifically here, and I love that all the drinks are all priced the same at $15. They have a waffletini happy hour from 5-7pm Tuesday-Friday where you can get a Classic Gin or Vodka Martini, Dirty Martini, Apple-tini, Cosmo, or Espresso Martini with a side of waffle fries for $10. I love this deal and come here primarily for it. It's also super dim-lit, sexy vibes inside. Your eyes adjust but at first you can barely see anything LOL especially if you're coming in during day time. Either way I love the speakeasy vibe inside. Our servers/bartenders are always super cool and friendly too. Highly recommend Moneygun!

This was one of many stops this past Friday night. Food: N/A Drinks: I had a Sidecar that was so GOOD! My friend had a Pimm's Cup and liked that. I had another Sidecar that was just ok. My friend got a Dark and Stormy that was ok. Service: The Bartender who was in the rear/back bar this past Friday made great drinks!! Once we moved up front, the drinks didn't taste as good. Atmosphere: Chill, music, drinks flowing....it gets loud as time goes by-typical lounge energy. Final Thoughts: Moneygun is always a good time!

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

After a quick ID check at the door, the bouncer let us know it's cash only (thankfully we came prepared). From the moment we walked in, dim lighting, loud music, and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds gave the vibe of a full-on frat party, but not in a bad way. It's chaotic, energetic, and unapologetically no-frills. There's even a self-serve cooler with drink prices clearly listed underneath. I grabbed a Sapporo Premium, brought it to the counter, and our friendly bartender broke our change and offered a chilled glass to pour it into. Simple and efficient. That said, it was loud, so loud that even whispering-distance conversations were a struggle. The space is small, seating is limited, and since we couldn't snag a spot, we ended up leaving shortly after finishing our drinks. This feels like a better weekday hang than a packed weekend night. Still, if you're looking for a classic, gritty, no-frills dive experience, Rossi's delivers exactly that.

He's deeply involved in the beverage scene, and with a partner who is starting a mezcal company, they're always on the hunt for standout cocktail programs. This time, we ended up at Gus' Sip & Dip, located at 51 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, IL 60654. While we were there, a friend mentioned that Gus' Sip & Dip has been recognized among the top food and drink destinations in the country, and after my visit, I can absolutely see why. The atmosphere is fantastic, think modern speakeasy with a touch of 1940s charm. The space features rich green tones, cozy booths, and an intimate layout that works especially well for small groups. Larger parties can take advantage of some of the bigger tables throughout the space. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Just be aware that this place is popular, so depending on when you visit, there may be a wait. As for the food and drinks, everything we tried was excellent. I didn't manage to get photos of everything, but a few highlights included the burger, the Italian beef dip, and the chicken pot pie. Every dish was flavorful and well executed. The cocktails were equally impressive, every drink I sampled was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. I would absolutely come back. The only thing worth noting is that it's a bit on the pricey side, but if you're looking for great food, exceptional drinks, and a memorable atmosphere, it's money well spent. If you have the budget and good company, Gus' Sip & Dip is a true gem in downtown Chicago. 5 out of 5 stars.

For parking you definitely should use Spothero or ParkWhiz, as it's in a very busy/lively part of River North. We loved meeting the owner who was chatting with and checking on guests in the dining room. The menu was really creative and sounded amazing, totally up my alley, so was super excited to try Ila's out for the first time. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say this, but the food itself was a miss for me, and the prices felt steep for the portions. We ordered the empanada duo, grilled scallops, birria lamb pierogis, and sweet corn agnolotti, then the Japanese cheesecake and drip coffee. The positives were that everything tasted fresh, and the flavors of the dishes were good ~ especially the empanadas, scallops, and agnolotti. The main issue was the texture of some of the foods. Other than the empanada (which had a great texture and flavor), the agnolotti and pierogi dough were not right ~ thick, rubbery, and dry, which was exacerbated by not having enough consommé for the pierogis. And the coffee - it honestly tasted like Folgers (though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) - which took me aback as it was a $7 drip coffee. I'm not discounting Ila's and I truly wish them success. But I think there's some work to be done in terms of execution.
