I've been going to Paulette for massages for over a decade, I think. In my opinion she truly has magically healing hands.

I was referred to Paulette by a chiropractor who said he couldn't do much to help me with my aliment because I was so tight. He did not recommend getting a massage or stretching out in a sauna... he said I needed to see Paulette. He was right. She is a healer .... And I don't mean that in a mystical way (no chatting or spells here). I just think God has given her a gift to feel what is happening in my body and then she does stuff. All I know is I just finished an hour with her (I recommend the 90 when she can fit it in) and I was not only in a relaxed state, but I just felt happy.... Massage for chronic Lyme. Paulette is a miracle worker! I'd never drive this far for a standard healer, but I came here with the recommendation of a fellow Lyme patient, and dove in. I have now had a total of 5 massages with Paulette, which means I get my 6th massage for free!! This is part of the royalty rewards program. I bought 5 massages (90 min each) for myself (you can give away or use on your own), and have now earned the 6th massage (60 min but eligible for upgrade to 90 min). During the summer, she offered a special 90 min massage for only $70. This can be combined with the royalty rewards program. What a great deal! Again, Paulette was able to work on the tightness on my back and levatur scapula with a full body massage. She was very thorough and I left feeling so much better and with no more knots. Even though she uses lots of pressure, I didn't feel sore afterwards which sometimes happens with deep tissue massage. She even does some stretching during the massage. (As mentioned in my previous reviews, clients should be readily use to deep tissue/sports massage. She is not for newbies or people who like a "light" touch. She is good for the athlete, the person who gets regular massage, the person who likes a firm touch). I've bought a couple of Paulette's packages. Overall highly recommend! Paulette is such a unique individual and has a very unique touch - her philosophy is to have YOUR body move HER hands - it is such a special, and in-tune with the body, way to perform a massage. She feels what is needed and that is how the "black magic" happens! She can be talkative, but if you want to be quiet and just breathe through the massage, she can also respect that. She does use a good amount of pressure, using her body as opposed to just forcing her fingers to do the work - I personally LOVE the pressure! Paulette is my Super Hero! Wonderworking Woman! She's been my massage therapist for a good decade and never ceases to amaze me. I remember my first massage I asked her if she was an energy worker because she was so intune. She replied, "No, it's just a natural gift." Supernatural is more like it! She can tell what's ailing you by watching you walk in. Then literally feels deep in your muscles and works out the knots of stuck energy. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful. My mother and I bought this as a groupon - had an emergency (I have a toddler) and called to cancel. When trying to reschedule our massages not only did she YELL at me for "wasting her time - I showed up and didn't get paid" (verbatim) - she also accused us of not calling to cancel. So, you did get paid bc we bought the groupon and we did call to cancel. We are now out money and feel totally disrespected. Word of advice - if you are in customer service treat clients with respect, it'll go a long way. read more

Paulette Harris is a magician and true healer without rival. I have been receiving therapeutic massages for 41 years and she is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. I just finished an 8 month road trip through 47 states and had massages in many states and even in Egypt. None of the massage therapists in America or in Egypt compared to Paulette!!! She has massage moves that I have never received elsewhere such as her work on my IT band. This area is always sore due to my bicycling, walking/hiking and swimming workouts. I have been received therapeutic massage from Paulette since 2014 and she has helped me through numerous injuries and conditions such as my back going out, my rotator cuff surgery recovery and scar tissue from a large surgical incision. Paulette is great. I had a Groupon and was so excited to get an extra 30 minutes for just $20 more. That's a great deal! The pressure might be intense for some. At times, it hurt a bit, but I loved that because I knew it was releasing so much pent up stress and tension I've accumulated as a UC student. I was in 10 weeks of summer school classes this summer and had some health challenges so I was extremely overwhelmed and burnt out once it was all over. This experience melted all of that away and really brought me back to a peaceful center and I am so appreciative of that! She is such a caring person and I loved the experience. read more

I hate saying this but this was the worst massage that I have ever had. I came really close to walking out but thought it would get better (it didn't). I've always been able to communicate with massage therapists to go softer or add pressure but Paulette doesn't listen. I wish I didn't pay the extra $ to go to a 90 minute massage (was really 75 minutes but hell, I would have paid more $$ just to have gotten the fuck out!). I don't really mind that I wasted $$$ but I just wish it was a relaxing experience but it wasn't. I came in wanting a light Swedish but felt like I had an extremely deep pressure massage. I mean if you like deep tissue (and like pain!) I'm sure she is good for you. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 star because Paulette is a character and she was able to fit me in right after I called her. This just wasn't a good experience for me. The massage was painful. The room and atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. She then said that if it becomes to rough to let her know. Paulette was hands down the best I've ever had for deep tissue. I purchased her Groupon and called to make an appointment. She set me up the same week and also offered an additional 30mins option on top of what I had purchased and I took it because my body def needs it and the price she offered ridiculous deal. By background, I suffer from high anxiety and as part of my stress management, I have turned to deep tissue massages as an outlet. Accordingly, Paulette did a great job putting my mind at ease and helping me relax. There wasn't any of that light-touch sissy massage nonsense.. She has more of medium/ deep pressured touch and was able to smooth away a lot of the tension I carry in my back and shoulders alone. She was able to hit hot spots I didn't even know existed.. I was feeling tight so I was crusin around groupon and found this awesome deal so I couldn't help but snatch it up! Called her a few days later and had an apt scheduled for the following week. The building is to the south of the shell station on old town ave. Go up the stairs and around the back-suite 205. So I open the door and was warmly greeted by Paulette. 5 star experience!! When I went into blackmagic massage and worked with paulette she made me feel right at home! She was nice and funny but genuinely concerned in helping me. I hurt my back in the gym and playing tennis so bad to the point where I could hardly walk! It was a struggle to bend over to put my shoes on or anything on for a matter of fact. I have to update my review because it is long due. I have seen Paulette for almost 2 years now and I would not change her for anyone else. I found out I was pregnant 9 months ago (due in a few days) and, after consulting with mt OB who cleared me for prenatal massages, I decided to see Paulette on a weekly basis not only to relax but also to help with the fluid retention which many women experience during pregnancy and I definitely fell into that category. It was one of the best investments I have done for me and for my soon-t-be-born baby. The weekly massage really helped with the fluid retention but, most importantly, they helped me relax during a time when I had continuous nausea and sometimes headaches (luckily these did not last long). I definitely recommend Paulette not only for relaxing massages but for prenatal ones as well. She does a fantastic job with her clients and meets you where you are at. There was no one at reception so I just stood there confused as to whether or not I was in the correct unit. The sign on the door does not say "Black Magic Massage". It says some other women's name. -1 star for have rough hands. It was like having a rub down from a brick layer. -1 star for smelling like menthol cigarettes. -1 star for just a bad massage. Parts of it were relaxing but I walked away with a VERY sore and stiff neck and a pain in my hip from her.
