Well...I started off looking for an acupuncturist in the OB/Point Loma who accepted my insurance, and I found Peak Performance. Then I Yelped, found these great reviews, and knew I had to come to see Danae. Danae has an awesome touch! I have so many sore spots and two previous acupuncturists have hurt me considerably while inserting needles...no pain at all with Danae. She also does a little massage with the treatment and WOW does she have strong hands and a great sense of where to put them to relieve the pain and pressure! I was so happy with my acupuncture sessions, both with Danae's abilities as a healer and with her great personality, that next week I'm going for acupuncture AND a massage. Can't wait! BTW the building is somewhat unassuming on the outside -- on the inside, the rooms are really warm & inviting. Not over-the-top, just very tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. One of the best surprises I had was that the massage table was fully heated, with soft comfy sheets, and even a bolster for under my ankles (face down) or knees (face up). I've been seeing Danae for over six months now to help with the pain and inflammation from a past injury and it's made a world of difference! I've received the best massage I've ever gotten from Tomira. I suffer from some pretty severe back pain, and with my line of work, it is important that I stay pain free. She is certified in microcurrent which is really important because it helps to reduce inflammation, and makes the benefit of the massage last much longer. She uses just the right amount of pressure, and knows exactly which parts of my back need the most work. More importantly, I feel totally comfortable with her, after just meeting her I felt like we were old friends. She is very professional, and I feel completely relaxed by the time I leave. She's very thoughtful and asks the right questions to ensure the best experience possible. At Peak Performance, she offers both massage and reiki treatment. She is amazingly skilled at both. I highly recommend scheduling an appointment with her. You will be glad that you did. Her professional skills don't stop there. She also has a B.S. in Kinesiology, advises on nutrition, and is a certified yoga instructor. I've been fortunate enough to have her help/teach me in all those arenas. Her knowledge of kinetics was the major contributor to help me overcome a knee injury. I have been going to Danae for about six years for migraines. I was getting around 10 debilitating migraines a month that would leave me missing work, not able to enjoy time with friends and landed me in the hospital on a couple occasions. I tried every prescription pill the doctor would give me and finally was told there was nothing else they could do. I used to live down the street from Peak Performance and one day I got up the guts to try acupuncture with Danae. Honestly, she has saved my life. I started out going weekly and after a couple months saw the number of migraines I was having slowly decreasing. I now get acupuncture (and even some cupping) for muscle tension once every couple months and get migraines only a handful of times in a year. Acupuncture has not only helped with my migraines but is super relaxing. I have since moved to Carmel Valley and still see Danae for treatments (even if I moved to Oceanside I would still drive back to OB to see Danae). I wouldn't trust any other person to stick needles in me! (And trust me, the needles really don't hurt!) read more

She is always in a good mood, is highly educated, and is a great listener when you describe what's bothering you. Hubby basically falls asleep during the massage. Danae is amazing. If you're looking for someone with the magic hands to get down deep, Danae is person for you! However, I couldn't get a hold of them on their phone line to confirm if they accepted insurance for massages (since on here it indicates they do), so I went to the office in person to confirm they accepted insurance. I was told Danae was the only one who would accept it, so I booked my appointment the earliest I could get with her (5 days later) and provided them with a copy of my insurance card. I asked them to call me if there were any problems and I didn't hear anything. I showed up to my appointment only to find out they don't accept insurance for massages. By this point I was desperately in need of a massage and stuck with my appointment. It was amazing, but I ended up spending 4 times the amount I expected. Bottom line: they don't accept insurance for massages regardless of what their staff says. read more

She knows I like to be warm, so she will heat up the massage table ahead of my arrival and will use the space blanket to keep me cozy during the treatment. I've been going to Liz for 5 years for facials and spray tanning. Her facials are amazing! The products she uses work great with my sensitive skin and I am always very relaxing during and after a facial from Liz. The spray tan products she uses are wonderful as well. I have tried a few different shades and they are all never too orange and they smell great. The spray tan lasts almost 2 weeks without looking weird around my neck, knees and elbows. For the past 20 years I have been going to Danae for massage. She has the most amazing ability to turn a massage into a complete body adjustment. She can go as deep as you can handle and always seems to find the "problem spots". She also offers acupuncture. I was sceptical that it really worked, but after a skiing accident, the releif from the pain was measurable after my first treatment. The prices are not over inflated like some spas and the business is clean and relaxing. I have experienced many massages all over the world and by far, Danae is the best.
