5 years ago I had the pleasure to do a Yelp Elite Event with Murder Co. I am happy they were able to survive through the pandemic! My family and I decided to do an escape room before one of the kids goes off to college. I am glad we got to experience the Maneater! The experience was pretty different and had my heart rate going! This is a great place for a group of friends or family to test your skills under pressure. There was definitely some laughs, screams, blood juice and pain. Thanks Mr.G for this awesome experience, you really put thoughts and time into this! I don't know what others are complaining about... Everyone was in character the moment you arrive. They are a little rough, but you do sign a waiver. You should know what you signed up for! Bring a towel for after the game, you will need to clean up some mess! If I could give it one star I would. READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SCAMMED!!!! My fiancé and I were planning on attending with 2 of our close friends for date night. My fiancé was visiting from Iowa and my friends and I live about 1.5hrs away. While driving I received a text 17 minutes before that the experience was canceled due to technical difficulties. Were we annoyed that we drove 1.5hrs for no reason and wasted valuable, precious time? Yes. However, I get it, things happen. In an email they sent me, they had asked if we'd like to reschedule or get a refund. I asked for a refund. I have emailed them on 4 different occasions. The day of, the 20th, 22nd, 25th, and the 27th asking for a refund and/or the next steps to get our money back. No response. The phone number on their website is disconnected so I couldn't get through to anyone. To spend $320 and not even get one single reply is ridiculous. I had to file a claim and take it up with the Better Business Bureau. Very tacky business. Will NOT be recommending this experience to anyone and I recommend you don't waste your time either. We paid for an escape room on October 5. We were called by management two hours prior to our scheduled time. They told us that their computer system was down due to a rowdy group the night before, and that our money would be refunded. We have called, left messages, and emailed and I have not received any communication back, and no refund has been issued. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! We scheduled for 10 people $700 on Oct 11, 2025. They called us a couple of hours before our slot time to cancel due to a computer breaking with the previous party. They even said this is the first time in 8years that it happened. We called every number we could find to get a refund; the one on the confirmation email, the one that called us to cancel, and the one thats listed on the website. No answer on any of them and some are even DISCONNECTED. They also never answered our emails from 3 different people. Ok if you're into escape rooms and you want to experience something totally different, like horror and on your toes. This place is it! I have done quite of few escape rooms but nothing like this. This was totally new and different. I drove from Orange to experience this place and it was not a disappointment at all. By far the best escape room I've ever done. You get there and give your names, and right away it begins. The staff is in performance mode as you go in. I was so thrown off because it was edgy but scary at the same time. The room where you're sat in with others, is exotic, eerie, and just something you would see from a movie. You pick the character you want to have. Note that they have several characters with different escapes. Once it begins, I promise you, it's a rush you feel and literally you're on the go. It's so realistic and the only thing I can say with out giving things always is that you have to watch your back and work together. Even if you don't know the other people you need to tag team. I screamed, cried and laughed through the entire time. Come in comfortable clothes that you'll be able to move, you might get stuff on your clothes. (Blood possibly ) The only thing I will say at one point we all had to crawl on our knees. Every room, spot we were in, we prevailed there was so much going on. Just right when you take a breath and think you're almost done, you're not! So many things happened from start to finish and we did it! We made it out before our time run out. It helped that everyone was working together and be loud and clear of what we needed to do. This place I recommend if you're a fan of horror films and like to be scared. Beware that you will have to watch your back and think quick. In the end you have the biggest rush, and feel like a bad ass for finishing your escape room. Update: Since posting this review we have gotten texts harassing us including sending our address . They are also claiming the 5-ft 100-lb girl in our group broke the door to their "secured facility" from rattling the door. You cannot sign or see a waiver online (unlike any other escape room I've been to) , before going into the building. You must purchase a non refundable ticket online to access the inside facility where you will see the waiver for the first time. AVOID this place at all costs. We were excited to come here given all the 5-star reviews , but we were quickly treated rudely. We arrived at the building in the rain and pressed the intercom outside the door per the email. Quickly we were berated with rude language like " figure it out you stupid little b****" to the female in our group, which is all "fun" and part of their "immersive as soon as you arrive" as described by them. The person on the intercom, kept repeating "Do you belong here?" And to "prove it" , which we were waiting for this access phrase shown in the email which was: Access Phrase: They say this month is going to be wet. (wait for response) Your Response: Will (Your Last Name) keep me dry. Which let me start by refuting the owners claims that these others 1-star reviews and ourselves included that "did not read the instructions" , but through combing the website , the texts you receive, or even when I CALLED them that firstly they do not even make this part clear to people. Secondly the access phrase you receive seems to be poorly written in a small font at the bottom of a very long email. If it is that important why is it only in one small location. The inside of their door clearly states "This door to remain unlocked during business hours" The smallest member in my group, a 5-ft girl rattled the door open, looking to answer his "prove yourself", which he quickly came through the door and physically shoved her back and saying our membership has been revoked. There was ample time for the actor to readjust , in or out or character, and resolve the situation. We called the desk after heading to our car to complain about this process and he called us idiots for being "unable to get through the door" and that he would post the video of our group, while still referring to the place as a "murder facility" , Sir it's an escape room. Could not recommend this escape room more!!! The crew was so understanding even after rescheduling a few times. Loved that one of the owners came and talked to us about how our experience was after our time was up. They were also really aware and understanding about letting people leave if it got too intense. Definitely DO NOT wear clothes or shoes that you care about because they will most likely be dirty once you're finished. I wouldn't recommend you come if you have thin skin and can't take a little torturing. Also left with a few bruises but nothing too crazy. They definitely WILL NOT break character which makes it way more intriguing and exciting. You can tell that they put a lot of time and effort into making the scenarios feel real. The characters were super interactive so don't be afraid of that. As for the actual escaping part, it's more than just keys to unlock doors. You definitely have to be clever and work as a team to try to get through the rooms. Overall it was a really amazing experience and I couldn't stress that enough. I will definitely be returning to try to actually escape because my group wasn't able to. 10/10 would recommend to try this at least once even if you get scared easily. Ive done nearly 200 escape rooms and this was the worst experience by far. Its the first time our group has been treated like trash by an ER company. One of the guys in our group (who was new) accidentally went through an exit, and the game master ended our game and kicked the ENTIRE group out. He was not nice about it, he wasnt apologetic, he was rude and berated our group. He also had a major attitude problem after this when I asked them to unlock the door so that I could leave. He said to me, "sO YoU ThInK YoU ShOuLd kEeP PlAyInG EvEn tHoUgH YoU SaW BaCkStAgE" ... um dude, this so called "backstage" area is nearly pitch black, no one saw anything except a couple of the same ugly props that are throughout the entire "experience". Then he tried to guilt me by saying they "comped our tickets" ... no, he comped 2 tickets for other members of our party that I met for the first time that night. I still had to pay $65 for a partial experience. On top of that, they only comped them because they never responded to my friend who booked the room! On top of that, I did the Hardcore version a couple years ago ago and this new Pure Evil version is worse lol. The beginning looked way cheesier and fake. There was some weird implied rape in beginning. The puzzles are still bad, so thats the one consistent thing here -- in 90 minutes there were only like 3 "puzzles", and 2 of them were just finding numbers on random objects (protip to the designers of this room: that's not a puzzle). Looking at some of the responses from the owner on this page, it's pretty clear to see where the lack of professionalism comes from. But they seriously need to learn how to treat paying customers with respect. 0/5* experience. Not worth $65. I award you no stars, and may God have mercy on your soul. BEWARE!! PLEASE READ!! If I could give this escape room negative stars I would. On February 24th my family, my boyfriend, and I booked this escape room to celebrate my mother's birthday. Upon arrival we were met with sounds of a chainsaw, screaming, and fake blood shooting out of the entrance door. This was super exciting and unlike anything, we have ever experienced at other escape rooms or haunted houses. When we arrived we provided the entrance code as instructed in our confirmation email. In our attempt to do so, we were screamed at and belittled by security with harsh language over the intercom. We assumed this was a part of the act so we proceeded to enter the experience. When the doors opened, we were immediately met with chaos. We were instructed by the actor to line up against the wall, again, with harsh and foul language. My family and I loooove haunted houses and all spooky experiences but never have we ever been met with such aggression from the actors. We were once again screamed at by the actor to enter the next room. It was in this room, after being completely shaken up in the last, that we were expected to read and sign our waivers. The room was dark. Almost pitch black save for the projected screen in front of us that showed horrific images of people being murdered in several creative ways. Not to mention loud music and little time as we were instructed to "hurry tf up". I'm typically calm under pressure, but the experience was so chaotic I had trouble filling in my own name and email let alone reading a waiver with complex legal jargon. However, I did try. The waiver states that the actors are allowed to AND WILL touch you. We were not provided the option to opt out of this as is customary at other establishments. I asked if there was any way we could opt out of being touched. The answer I received was a rude "You signed the waiver, so you knew what you were getting into". I think it's important to mention that this man was waving around an active taser. My father asked if we would actually be getting tased and instead of providing him with a direct answer, the game master approached him from behind asking him if he wanted to find out in an aggressive and hostile tone. (SPOILER! yes. they do tase you.) Again, my family and I have been to many escape rooms, but the energy these actors had was so ugly we were genuinely confused as to whether or not the aggression was a part of the act. In the next room, we were met with a little show put on by the actors in which my teenage sister was repeatedly called a bitch. There was also a message played over the intercom bragging about the airtight contracts we signed and that they now had the right to do whatever they wanted to us. Upon entering the actual escape room we were blindfolded, told to chain ourselves to the wall, and to kneel. It was during this time that my boyfriend was physically assaulted. He was struck in the side of the head. This was his very first time meeting my family so he was hesitant to say anything about it out of fear of ruining my mom's birthday. We were given no instructions about what to do after we were chained to the wall other than that we were not supposed to move and that if we did move we would get "fucked up". The actors then left. Apparently, this was the beginning of the experience. This was NOT made clear. We were left on the wall to figure out what was going on. We eventually tried to figure out how to leave the room since it was an escape room after all. As we were figuring out how to get out, the actors returned. We were again told to put on our blind folds and we were asked to turn around and face the wall. It was at this point that I heard my boyfriend yelling at one of the actors to stop. I took my blindfold off to discover one of the actors shoving a dildo up his ass??? This is now the second assault he has received. We had been in the experience for less than 10 minutes at this point. It was at this time that I noticed there were NO exit signs as promised. Obviously, my boyfriend and my family were highly upset by this. When we asked if we could continue the experience without the sexual acts being performed on us we were again screamed at by the actors that we signed the waivers so they could do whatever they wanted. These actors were clearly no longer in character. It also became clear at that moment that whatever it is they had planned was only going to escalate. We were essentially told to suck it up or get out, so we left. As we were leaving, the game master began to harass my boyfriend calling him a pussy and saying he was a bitch because he couldn't handle the experience of being sexually assaulted. There was no apology from the actor who committed the offense. His response was "I didn't even do it that hard". Nor, was there an apology from any of the staff. What a thrill ! Came here with a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday and it was more than what we expected. We participated in the harvest, rise of the Apex. From the moment you arrive, the experience begins and all I can say is buckle up. Without giving too much away, you're making your way through this experience where you'll have to walk, run, hide (and more) and traverse through the story that will leave you with an experience to remember. Pro tip: would recommend wearing clothes that you won't care about getting a little dirty ;) read more

We read the instructions provided and the person got mad bc he thought our friend was " a smartass." The most thrilling, adrenaline rushing, insane, FUN experience you'll find in an escape room! I did my research before coming in and had a good idea of what I was getting myself and my group into. The experience does start as soon as you get to the door and does not stop until the timer runs out. You're "safe" for like the first 15 minutes you get there and do the waiver process and sit down with the host to talk about the experience (escape timer is not counting down at this point). There you will choose who your entertainer will be (if doing the MurderCo. room). While still in the "lobby" room you have the option to ask any questions regarding the experience BEFORE it starts. Once you finish with the host, you move to the entertainment room where you get to meet your entertainer and get an idea of how your experience will be. After the show, you get into the designated room and the timer starts counting down. (HINT: PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS as they WILL help you navigate) Overall, it was such a great experience and I look forward to finishing off the SideShow experience! These guys are awesome! Ignore all the bad reviews from people who seriously don't know how to listen. They make it very clear what you are and aren't supposed to do. I would highly recommend this room to anyone even a little interested in horror or escape rooms, they do an amazing job. The production and the immersion you are placed in is absolutely top tier. Furthermore, I would not underestimate how "easy" of an escape room this is just because there is a horror theme, the puzzles are pretty good and the building is massive. BEWARE!! The owner deletes reviews he finds unsavory and LIES to cover his ass. Dear Mr. G, You claim that we had 15 minutes to read over and sign the waiver. This was not conveyed to us. As mentioned in my previous review, we were told to "hurry tf up". That would most likely explain why we signed it in two minutes (if that's even accurate). Not to mention, again, we were shaken up in the previous room. Also, your claim that we had time to read our waivers BEFORE any scary images or actor involvement occurred is a LIE. We were escorted into the room to sign the waivers BY AN ACTOR! As i mentioned in my accurate review, as we were signing our waivers we were in a dark room that was playing loud music while a projector was showing horrific images. My family and I are huge scary movie fans so this wasn't an issue for us. Not to mention we've gone to countless haunted houses and scary escape rooms, as again, we are huge horror fans. Our issue is the fact that, contrary to your claims, we were left to read and sign a waiver in a distracting environment. NOT COOL. In reference to our time with the host who "personally addressed everything in the waiver with us", again you lie. We met with our host AFTER the waivers were already signed. In response to our very valid questions, we were told that we had already signed the waivers and again were met with aggression and threats of being tased. You also say that we were notified of everything that could happen to us. In response to this specific claim, you told one of our other group members that we were contacted 6 times with a disclaimer about the escape room. THIS IS FALSE. We received one confirmation email that provided the code to get in. That's it. The questions that we asked the host weren't even answered. He was very vague and rude. Within the time spent with our host nor in the waiver, were we informed that the sexual imagery and acts would be performed ON US. We understand that claiming sexual assault is not to be taken lightly, so it's funny that you're so quick to dismiss us instead of investigating for yourself. I'm not sure how an un-consented sexual act could NOT be considered sexual assault. It seems you need to familiarize yourself with the definition. To say that my boyfriend has phobias with a cross-dressing character is laughable considering you do not know him and have not met him. Your statement is UNTRUE. Since this claim is so asinine, I won't address it further. It's very clear you have no idea what's going on within your own business. As a business owner, it's your responsibility to ensure that your customers are satisfied. I suggest you set time aside to work on your customer service skills. They are lacking. Wow wow wow! First of all this Black Market Escape Room is not for the faint of heart. Personally I'm a big fan of escape rooms and of Haunted Mazes so this place was calling to me. I'm a regular at Knott's Scary, Halloween Horror Nights, and Queen Mary Dark Harbor, and this was the epitome of all of those combined and more! There are different levels of the "experience" you can get. For the full experience I highly recommend getting "Chaos". Yes, it's more $$ but worth. So here's how it goes. You go into the Black Market and you get to choose what delightful artist you would like to perform for you. In our case we picked the clown. And then your horrific journey begins. Artists: 5/5 Everything from the props they use, to the makeup, masks, blood, is all Hollywood movie quality. They are all professionals and their job is to scare the bejeezus out of you and that's what they're going to do. Expect nothing less than the best. They improv everything so you get to really make some decisions. Escape Room: 5/5 I've done around 30-40 escape rooms and I'd rate this one medium-hard level. I'd say a group of 8 players is good. We had 11 it was a little chaotic but fun. I'd say the clues are pretty straight forward and you will have help if you need it. But the game really is getting over your fear of getting killed to actually find a way to escape. For all you Horror Fans, this is the dream guys! Just when I thought I was ready for this room, I get knocked down ten pegs. This room was incredible. From start to finish. While protecting the secret of the room, I'll try my best to break down the experience. First things first, arrive ON time. This isn't one of those experiences where you can ignore the 15 min rule. It's important to respect their time as it means everything for the next group's experience. You won't even be allowed entry without your group. If you know someone who is frequently late, either lie to them about the time or invite someone else. I'm not joking. Secondly, it's CLEAR that they put A LOT of time and care into this experience. It is in NO WAY for the weak. If you can't handle a little abuse, don't bother. Obviously, it's nothing excessive, but this experience is for ADULTS. Accidents DO happen, as they happened twice in our experience, but they were SO SO SO quick to address it without really breaking character. Once again, my favorite part of the experience were the actors. Man, top notch. Best to date. Bar none. I'm talking HOLLYWOOD, y'all. They really made the experience for me. My group and I walked away on the same page about this. We also still felt it was a very key-based room, not enough puzzles, but that is just a PREFERENCE thing. Didn't take away from the experience what so ever. We did not make it out, but losing never felt so okay. I can guarantee that we WILL be back. And when we return, it WILL be on time. I'm leaving people behind if not! :p One little note: the host, while sweet and fun, has a dry tone. He said something at the end of the experience that was upsetting at first. But I've spoken with him a few times and understand that that's just his way of speaking. If you come here and experience his dry ways, don't let it effect your review too much. read more

Super happy with this place We've been to other escape rooms before and this one is our favorite. Hands down. We've returned here for Halloween and it was just so. Much. Fun! Omg, my team was making me laugh so much too! Our first time here was already so good, & you can see how much effort they really put into this place & the artists made the whole picture complete! Love the puzzles, can't wait to see what you'll do next! Also, please people, respect the artists, they are awesome people & do a wonderful job! They actually helped me from being clumsy and potentially f*cking myself up! How nice!! Bottom line, I can't wait for you guys to open up your new room, we will be there for that one too! read more

Alright, so from the beginning. It was my friend's birthday and he decided he wanted to do an escape room. We had a group of 12 people so he called earlier in the day before the experience to see if they could accommodate 12 instead of 10, as stated in their website. Whoever answered had a horrible attitude and didn't accommodate for 12. Understandable, so we left 2 of our group back. We drove 45 minutes. From LA to Upland. We got to the parking lot which actually looks like a place where people do get murdered. We had our experience in the 10 PM slot and we got there at 9:35. The guy that booked the experience got a text that they were still setting up so we would go at 10:15 PM instead of 10 PM. Not a huge deal, 15 minute delay, so we didn't mind. Once our time was up, we went up to the intercom and stated the quote that was given to us in the email. The guy behind the intercom (which I'm guessing was the owner) was screaming through the intercom which we all thought was part of the act so we didn't think of anything. It wasn't until the owner screamed through the intercom "am I talking to a wall or are you just a fucking idiot? You have to press the button to talk!" So my friend replied "speak for yourself." That's when the owner screamed that he didn't "want to talk to that asshole in the hat anymore" (my friend). So I jumped in the intercom and that's when things took a turn for the worse (this is also when I started recording just in case. I have the video which lasts 1:46 but Yelp only allows 12 seconds. If you wanna see the rest, let me know) The owner started screaming that he "wouldn't let us in until the asshole in the hat leaves and goes to the car." Our group was stunned because we all thought it was part of the experience so we stood around saying "is he being serious or is he acting?" So the owner screamed that he was being serious. Even then we were still confused if it was real or not. By then, the girls in our group were already sketched out and felt uncomfortable going in. My friend (the guy in the hat) stated that we could leave and that he would ask for a charge back which was fair since we didn't get the service we paid for and that's when the owner got more mad and said through the intercom "now you're really not getting in." So we started walking away and the owner called us "fucking idiots" lol so there. I'm done with my novel. I'll wait and see how the owner replies to my review, which if you see the other reviews, he's pretty aggressive. Quickest "escape room" I've ever been to read more
