I came here to get my tent redone because i had to get my windshield replaced due to a break in. They have done just about all of my vehicles. This time they damaged my rear view mirror and then told me that the place i got the windshield replaced Safelite to be exact messed up my rear view mirror . The mirror was in tact and up on the glass when i picked it up and brought it here to apply the tent. I was told i need to go back to safelite because they messsed it up. I had a long day and was too tired to fuss and argue so i am writing this review fue to lack of ownership and accountability and in attempt to get out correcting their mistake i will not ever come back to this place for anything i would recommend somewhere safe to get your work completed i will upload the photos later read more

I called for a quote for window tint. They were alil higher than the place I was originally planning to go to. However, as a courtesy since they just opened, they were able to bring the price down to about the same price. They were able to get me in right away too. They were very kind and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely recommend this place for tints because I love the tint on my car! I'm also planning to go back to detail my other car. The only thing negative thing I have to say is the bathroom was dirt. I went in to blow my nose and there wasn't any tissue or paper towels either. I've had 20 cars tinted at seven shops across the country in the last 10 years. This place does the worst work I have ever seen. I had my windshield done today on my Audi RS3 and after getting home, found long scratches in the tint, bubbles with sediment under them, and fingerprints everywhere. It was lifting at the edges. It took two hours for an absolute hack job. The person who paid for tint right before me also had to have it redone; I was hoping for good luck hearing that while waiting for my car. I literally drove back an hour later, got a refund, and removed the tint in their parking lot myself. It was literally such a hack job, I took it off AFTER it would have been free. read more

I have to leave atleast one star sadly. Went here to get my windows tinted as soon as they finished my windows have bubbles in them. The guy says give it 48 hours and guess what still have bubbles. He tells me my windows are dirty and it's my faulty I have the bubbles. They just did a shitty job. I apparently have a warrenty in which he wouldn't honour other then one window they he did still looks like shit. My advice don't waste your money if I could get a refund I would. Black Optix tinted my old Camry beautifully and legally. I never had any problems with bubbling or peeling or fading to even have to use the warranty but it was great to have anyways. They also installed the remote start and it was super handy to have in the cold and hot weather. My boyfriend used them to tint his new truck windows a few months ago and has had no problems as well and it keeps the vehicle so much cooler. I plan to get my new vehicle tinted with them as well! read more

Had to give them at least 2 stars because they did fix some of their mistakes. I got tint done all the way around on my Optima and they butchered their cuts. On one window I had close to a 1/4" gap where you could clearly see light coming through, the cuts on the sunroof were awful as well. Lots of mistakes everywhere. Every time I look I find more imperfections, including bubbles, and dust/debris trapped under the tint that is still there. Some of the windows are also very hazy. I would not recommend coming here if you want it done right. The quality of work is not worth the savings. HIGHLY dissatisfied! read more

I was in search of getting my truck tinted and wasn't familiar with many of the tinting shops in Richmond. I stumbled across this location while going to work and decided to give it a try. After speaking with the shop they offered me a fairly good price. They answered all of the questions I had and even offered me some suggestions on which tinting percentage I should try. I notice other deals they were offering and it definitely wanted me to get more work done in the future. H.I.D systems, Audio/Video installs and Sub/Amps installations. The tint installation went fairly quick. I got the driver window, passenger window and the rear window done. Horrible! We had them tint our windows at one of sites. A couple of them had to be redone. After "fixing" the issues, one of them was worse than before! Huge gap in the top corner! At this point I was done with it but they called asking if we were satisfied with the "repair." Told them no and explained the issue. A week later, Randall came and looked and agreed and said he and his install guy would be back within two days to "make it right." That was two weeks ago and we are still waiting!! This is my story...run far away from these people!!! I am writing you to discuss and hopefully come to a resolution regarding a recent transaction at your Richmond, VA location. On Saturday September 30, 2017 (at 11:30 am) I dropped off my car to have legal carbon tint put on all 5 windows. At 4:30 pm I called Black Optix Tint to see if the vehicle was ready, the employee that answered the phone stated that the car was ready for pick-up. Upon arrival, I noticed that the tint had dents and scratches, upon further inspection I noticed that the back windshield was scratched along the sides and top. I pointed out the damaged windshield and the tint imperfections to Black Optix Tint employee Donny. Donny stated that there was some debris (hair) caught inside the tint, however the remaining bubbles and scratches would go away within 3-5 days, and that because today was a busy day they were not able to dry the tint, therefore some water may still be caught between the window and tint film. As for the scratches to the back windshield, Donny exclaimed that was unacceptable and something that Black Optix Tint could get out. Before I left, the bill was paid and an appointment was scheduled for October 4, 2017 at 10:00 am to fix tint and back windshield. On October 4, 2017, I dropped off my vehicle at 10:00 am to have the tint fixed and back windshield repaired. At 5:00 pm I called Black Optix Tint to see if my vehicle was ready. The employee that answered the phone stated that my car was ready and then placed me on hold and another employee answered apologizing for the scratches to the back windshield. The employee stated that he used a blade that was dull and accidently scraped the windshield. He stated that he may lose his job and wanted to know if there was anything that he could do to fix the situation. I stated all I wanted was the tint to be fixed and the windshield to be fixed. Upon my arrival to Black Optix Tint (5:45 pm), I noticed that my car was being pulled around the back alley. I questioned why my car was being taken to the back and Donny stated that they need 15-20 minutes to finish the tint. After about 20 minutes I walked around the back to see Black Optix Tint Employee (Coby) tinting the two front window. I also take note that the scratches to the back windshield are still present. After approximately 45 minutes Coby brings my car to the front of the shop and apologizes for the inconvenience and scratches. I explain to Coby that all I want is to be made whole and have my windshield fix. Coby states that he will put in an insurance claim to have a new back windshield installed in my vehicle. Coby then gives me a card with his name and tells me that he should have insurance information by Friday. On my way home I notice the same debris in the passenger side tint. Upon further inspection, I notice that there are bubbles and scratches throughout all the tint. On October 5, 2017, I call Coby several times using the number on the card and did not get an answer. At 12:30 pm I go to Black Optix Tint to show Coby the bubbles and scratches in the tint. Coby agrees that the tint does not look good and ask that I allow Black Optix Tint a 3rd chance to fix the tint. At this point I no longer trust that Black Optix Tint will correct the issues and I ask for a refund as well as the name of the insurance company for the back windshield. Coby states that no refunds can be issued and that he does not know the name of the insurance company. At this time I would like to get a refund for the tint and to come to a resolution regarding the back windshield as soon as possible. If Black Optix Tint would like to go through insurance, please provide me with the name of your insurance company. My vehicle is brand new, and when I came into your shop as a repeat customer, my expectations were that I would receive excellent service and customer service. However, this has not been my experience with these last few visits.. I would appreciate a phone call at 804-xxx-5315 as soon as possible. read more

Sometimes when you walk into an auto shop you feel stupid and out of place, nervous to be taken advantage of over things you don't know much about. NOT HERE. The employees are helpful, informative, straightforward, and fair. I dropped off my car to have ceramic tint put on, it looks great! The only problem I had was, I had just gotten my car detailed for an event I was going to in a few hours and for whatever reason, they sprayed my car down BUT DIDN'T DRY IT so I had ugly water spots all over my freshly waxed car that I had to wipe down when I got home. Made the fresh tint job not look so hot after the water dried on it. After the wipe down tho, my 2011 Buick Lacrosse looked straight out of the brochure! Good job guys! So I came in to get my front windshield tinted to 35%. Turns out they put a 5% tint and I cant see nothing thanks to them. I reiterated exactly what I wanted to what i assume was the manager. Came to pick it up and was treated very poorly by the employees. I tried to say thank you and none of them responded. When I got in my truck I thought it was excessively dark for 35%. I tried to deal with it for a few a days but I couldn't see jack at nighttime. I made an appointment at extreme audio they called to tell me that black optic had put 5% tint instead of 35%. No where close to what I asked for. Black optix has poor communication and customer service. I will not be doing business there again and I advise you not to unless to want to spend tons of money on something that isn't even done right, for no refund. read more

This place is ridiculously horrible with their time management. I have three cars that need to be tinted. I was told it wouldn't take more than 2-2.5 hours per car. Based on that information I thought I could spend that much time doing work at the Starbucks down the road. I returned after 2.5 hours at which time they were supposed to be closing. Lady clerk tells me they're almost done. Meanwhile I see them just finishing another customer's car. I sat there for another 2.5 hours before they finishing tinting my car windows. It was too dark to see the details, but the following day I see air bubbles in every window and the rear window was peeling off. I called them back and they said they'd repair the work and redo the back window. I specifically asked how long it will take as I have a very busy schedule. I politely requested to schedule a slow day and time to make sure I can get out promptly. I was told it would take about 1-2 hours. I am currently sitting here in their sitting area going on to 6 hours!!! At this rate I don't even see how they can charge me for their mistake. This isn't my first car I've had tint put on. It does not take this long. I would recommend calling James at Magic Tint. I had him do my Acura TL in 2009 and haven't had any issues since. He was recommended to me by the BMW service department as well. He does a great job the first time around and you won't regret it. He is mobile and will come to your garage to do the tint 804-304-8468. I will be having him do my remaining cars. Also, they try to up sell you this ceramic tint that is supposed to reject heat by 80%. I brought in a temperature gun and the difference between each tint was just a few degrees. On an 85 degree day I sat in all four of my cars and could not feel any difference regarding to temperature. read more

I purchased window tint for my home in January 2015. Black Optix Tint came to my house and tinted my windows. One window in particular is done very poorly, in fact it looks like a first grader could have done it. I requested it be redone, and the owner told me that he gave me such a good deal on all my windows that he was not coming back to finish it. When I went out of town last month, the owner told my husband that he was going to come re-do my window and then never showed up or called. Now I guess I will just peel the tint off of the window and find another company to come do the window. I would not suggest having this business tint your windows in your home because they won't come back to fix a poorly done window. I recently had my car audio hooked up by the black optix in Richmond VA. The day after receiving the car I noticed that a pretty big piece of my shift trim plate was chipped off. Keep in mind I had the trim in the car custom painted gloss black. So, I went back up there and the installer came out to look at it. He denied it and tried to point out other small flaws that was on the shift plate. I then talked to the manager (Chinese guy) who also began pointing out other things trying to take the focus off of what they broke. Neither of them admitted to doing it. This damage to my car would have not bothered me as much if someone came forward upfront and told me that they broke it. The fact that I had to find it out myself is what made me upset. The guys there do not know what they are doing and will tell you a cheap price install it then call you with an up-sell that they had to install. got quoted 200 to hook subs and amp up then got call saying the total was 370...... I dropped my car off for a 1pm window tint appointment and I did not receive my car back until after 830pm.....well over 2hrs after they closed. I called at 530 to check and see if they were done and I was told it will he done in an hr (they close at 6) Cool, 30 mins after they close is not bad, but once I arrived at 630 the car was not finished. To make a horrible experience short I finally got my car back after waiting in there lobby at 830pm. They could care less and offered no apology. Don't even waste your money here. On 01/30/2015, I brought my vehicle in for tinting. While the price was satisfactory, I've encountered series of unpleasant experiences. The first time I picked the vehicle up, the back window was terribly wrong. There were several bubbles and the tint did not cover the entire back window. You could see major light gaps in various places even when sitting in the front seat looking thru the rearview. The areas that were trimmed were very uneven and even jagged in some areas. I brought the vehicle back immediately and the window was redone, but not before I expressed grave concern about the removal of the tint as the window does house defrost lines. I was assured that the tint would be "steamed off" and that it would not affect the defrost lines at all. When I picked the vehicle back up, I was already late for another engagement so did not have time to look it over thoroughly. To my disappointment, when I got in the vehicle I noticed a huge crease in the tint. I brought the vehicle back a third time and it was agreed to (again) redo the rear window. No offer was given to repair the other windows. When I picked the vehicle up there was severe damage done to the rear defrost lines as a result of removing the tint, which I was assured wouldn't happen. I have to admit, I was very dissatisfied. I made a sincere attempts at looking over this problem, but ultimately wasn't able to. Equally, neither could anyone else who is a car enthusiast who looked at it. The back window looks horrible. The defrost lines were damaged and it is very noticeable. The entire window looks pretty bad in many spots. I really tried to get past the rear defrost damage, as well as other spots that had trashed trapped, trimmed very uneven in many areas, and was extremely noticeable. For a fourth time, I carried the vehicle back and spoke with Randal, one of the owners. I pointed out the problem areas and explained what I had previously experienced. He agreed that the job had been done incorrectly and that the damage to the defrost lines were in fact a result of the tint being removed by his employees. He explained that they did not have a "steam" process, that I had been misinformed, and admitted that this misinformation was a result of bad management then in place. He then informed me that he went thru a bad batch of employees and management who did not share the same work ethic as he, but assured me he had the proper management in place and that my vehicle would be properly repaired. He instructed me that when I was ready to drop it off, to speak only with David his manager. 07/24/2015 When I dropped my vehicle off, I spoke with David, who has since been fired, but was the manager at the time. He explained to me that the tint used to cover my windows was of sub-standard quality, and that he would personally re-tint the windows "with the good stuff". We discussed at great length the concern I had regarding the back window. He then retrieved the co-owner (name unknown, but claims to be Randals brother in-law) who immediately agreed that damage was done because of the tint removal, and who also assured me that the situation would be rectified. I picked the vehicle up when it was finished and again spoke with David. He informed me that he was in contact with Randal regarding the back window and that when one could be found, someone would be in contact with me. Two weeks passed without an update, so I reach out to Randal via email. I explained in the email that while I was impressed with how rapidly my concerns were addressed, the back window issue had not been resolved, there were light gaps (tint did not cover the entire window) in one of the windows that had been redone, as well as a few other minor discrepancies (driver side window film is beginning to separate from the window). A week passed without a response to my email, so I reached out via phone. After leaving two messages, I finally received a return call from the brother in-law. It was then that I was informed that Black Optix Tint was not going to stand behind their mistake, that there were no intentions of repairing/replacing the back window, and no intentions of repairing any mistakes recently made. He informed me that the workers who were present at my first re-visit (the bad batch who were supposedly fired) stated that they informed me there would be damage done to the rear defrost if the tint was removed. I would have NEVER agreed to this being done had I not been reassured there would be no damage. He then personally attacked me saying that because I tinted windows over 20 years ago, that I should be well aware of what methods are used today. Again, I haven't tinted windows in over 20 years, and therefore it's not necessary for me to keep up to date with current methods. That's why I hired them assuming they were the professionals. Do yourself a favor and go to a real shop! I had a previous experience with this shop when they 1st opened and got my windows tinted and didn't have any issue so I figured I could continue to support this local business. I recently went there to have a remote start installed with (Brand new parts of my own) and purchased the bypass module they recommend. When I called to schedule my appointment I was told install would be $100.00 with my own parts and a lifetime warranty on the labor. I got there and was told oh we told you the wrong price its $150.00 due to the 2 way system you have. Ok so no big deal I could understand that I guess! So I get a phone call about 2 hours later saying that oh well this is really a $200.00 job but I can do it for $180.00. My response was why??? The guy at the front desk with ZERO aspect of customer service told me it was due to the bypass module and other than that he didn't have a real answer but could get me one and call back. Long story short I never got a call back and upon picking up my vehicle I get another call from him telling me that I could not use my factory key as they had said I could before after the install was done. I told him this was incorrect and per every other Real shop this wasn't an issue. He even asked me since I know so much about remote start why didn't I install myself (Hence why you get a check every other week) lol. I picked my car up paid the $180 and not a single person could tell me why the charged had increased by $80.00. The part owner as they say went over the remote start with me and told me the factory 3x lock would not work on two way systems but if I'm wrong you have a lifetime warranty so you can bring it back and I will fix it. I started the car and ALL of my dash lights came on, his response was where did you drive it to. In the 5 seconds it took for him to run to the back how far could I go? So needless to say the issue was fixed in 30 mins. While using the remote start I noticed all items I had purchased were not installed and their response was the front desk did not tell me and didn't charge you for it.... It was all in the same box! I had the remote start installed on Friday and while using it and unlocking the doors the car sometimes would come on and stay on, seems like a really big issue and something not done right. I called the shop the next day and told them the issue and said since it seems to working improperly I would like to have it removed so it doesn't damage my 33k car and I would like to talk to the manager about some kind of refund (Didn't even have to be a full refund). The manager said ok bring it in and we will take it out and see what we can do with a refund, not oh I'm sorry and what can we do to make you happy since you spent your money and choose our shop over many others. I got there Tue and the manager or part owner was nowhere to be found the office staff didn't even know when they were coming in! My 9:00am appointment took 3 hours to remove what I was told would be done in 30 to 45 mins. On top of removal when they took everything out they failed to return all items that came with the equipment and got an attitude because I asked for it back. So two more days go by and I finally get to speak with the manager who told me oh you took it out because you wanted to there were no issue with the system and we don't do refunds on labor after the previous conversation we had just days before. I can honestly say I made the biggest mistake by going to them It's not even about the money but lack of knowledge and incompetence and their failure to fix the issue. My advice is if you are looking for ANYTHING go to a real shop with real techs that understand their job and value their customers or like the rep said if you know so much do it yourself...lol. If I could give a "0" as a rating I would. Terrible customer service, incompetent workers and worst of all a rude and disregarding co-owner, Steven that thinks it's okay to be disregarding and shout at his customer as if they didn't pay for their service. I took my car to be tinted, payed accordingly for the service that included a lifetime warranty, and had to return to them 2 separate times, still, not to have the tint redone properly and on top of that to be insulted, shouted at and disregarded by Steven. His "professional tint technicians" did a horrendous job and tried to fix the disaster with a heat gun instead of redoing the tint. After taking the day off of work (because they refused to accept my car on a Saturday due to it being their busiest day) and patiently waiting for half of the day to have them rectify their errors, I was told that I needed to wait another 3 hours or come back another day to spend another half of my day with them because the technician should have replaced the tint to begin with. I asked Steven how he would feel if he was the consumer being treated this way. He began to get irate, threw his hands in the air, shout at me then walked off and told another employee that he could deal with me if he wanted to because I didn't feel like I should have to wait 3 additional hours or return another day to fix the tint for a 3rd time. To my surprise, the incompetent tech(Dominique, I believe) that did the job poorly to begin with was allowed to work on my car again after I was assured by "the so-called manager" that he would not be working on the car. This incompetent-joke of a technician came out and had the audacity to tell me that I was being unreasonable because I wanted my tint redone, and NOT fixed with a heat gun, which he, in his pseudo-wisdom, decided to use and left a big visible eye sore. I even asked them to credit me back a percent of what I paid because I would not be returning and would be getting it fixed elsewhere. THEY ABSOLUTELY REFUSED. THEY INSISTED THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND THE TIME TO DRIVE 45 MINUTES TO BRING THE CAR BACK OR SIT AND WAIT ANOTHER 3 HOURS. You're better off going to someone at the flea market that takes pride in their work and respects their customers or even someone that is humble enough to apologize and recognize that the job was done poorly and try to rectify the situation accordingly. Black Optix Tint and Audio is a JOKE! I had my Jaguar XK tinted there a year and a half ago. The window tint bubbled up so I removed it 3 weeks after it was installed. I took it back and they reapplied the window tint on the driver side door. Two months later the tint peeled up in the front corner. I just removed the film with the intention of going back to Black Optix Tint and Audio a third time. I had some free time and took the Jaguar back to have the tint replaced. I was on crutches and the guy behind the counter was more concerned with getting his UBER app to work than to assist me. I stood there in pain for two minutes before he put his cell phone down and then proceeded to plug his wireless headphones into a wall charger. I explained that I came in for warranty work, as I have a lifetime warranty on the tint, and he quickly asked for a receipt and then stated that if I did not have a receipt he did not know if I was in the computer system. My response was "Just look in the computer"! What do you know, it took 10 seconds to pull my information. What was disturbing was their records showed me having the "standard" tint. I told him that was wrong and if he cared to, he could go and look at the other windows on the car and see that I upgraded to the carbon fiber product. He then said that he would have to talk to the owner because he did not know what to do from there-(wow, how about retinting the damn car). He saw I was becoming upset and said he would get the car in and replace the tint. I was next and the car before me was almost done. I waited two hours and he then said your car is next. REALLY, you told me I was next two hours ago. When the owner heard the conversation, the idiot tried to say he did not tell me any of that. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUSINESS!!!!!!!! If I could give this business a 0 star rating I would. I brought my VW Beetle there on 12/21/2015 and again on 12/29/2015 so that the windows could be tinted. We agreed they would tint the side windows (driver side, passenger side and rear windows) and back windshield. After 2 attempts and 18 hours of work, ONLY the 2 rear windows are tinted. NOT the back windshield, the driver side window, or the passenger side window. Just the 2 small rear windows. When I asked for a refund because the incompetent and unprofessional staff clearly could tint my car, I was told no refund only store credit. As if I would brought my car or business back there ever again. This business is just the worst and a complete scam! If I had known what a hassle this would turn out to be dealing with them, I definitely would have taken my business elsewhere, and saved myself the time and headache. read more

I got my window tinting here last September. They did an awful job, bubbles and lint in many of the windows. I brought the car back to get it fixed. Again, same issues. I ended up returning to the place 3 times to get the windows fixed. All they did was damage my vehicle. They did $4000.00 worth of damage, they cut the rubber seals on all windows, scratched the defrost lines off the back window, and scratched multiple windows. I got this vehicle assessed at a glass shop and brought the estimate to them so they could resolve the issue. They said that is was his problem as the business was just sold. Weird though because the name remains the same and it is still registered as an LLC on under the same person. They said it was just tint damage, but it wasn't, they stopped responding to me when I asked about the repairs. I got my insurance copy to cover the repairs to which I had to pay a hefty deductible. They have stopped responding to my insurance company and are denying they did the work, even through I have a work order and credit card receipts. DO NOT USE THEM!! I brought my car to them with 200 miles on it and now it is damaged for life and they wont pay me back for the damage. read more
