I've tried this place many many times (multiple locations) and the coffee is fine not bad by any means, but I'm never thrilled after the first sip. Also, they are big on putting in your phone number every single time, but I feel like for as many times as I have purchased coffee from them, their rewards program doesn't really give back much. I waited a while before being able to place my order for to go and just didn't feel very welcome. Note: I've only ordered via UberEats, I have not dined in yet. I would love to give this place more stars but there's a number of cons that keep me from doing so. Overall, the drinks are good. I particularly enjoy their Peppermint Bark, and IV Latte. But, given how expensive they are, you would think when you pay the extra to order a large, your cup would be full! But when I ordered two large coffees (one for the next morning) I was really disappointed with what arrived was almost only half full (and that's not me being a pessimist). It would be one thing if it was just one of them but nope, both drinks came lacking a good chunk of coffee. If this is the norm then it is not at all worth the price. But I hope it's not because the third drink I ordered, a regular Watermelon fuel, was totally full! Also the fuel drink was way sweeter than I thought it would be, but they do have options to change the sweetness level which I recommend taking advantage of. All in all, meh. read more

So happy to find a black rock coffee shop here in Texas! The first time I visited a black rock coffee shop was in 2018 in Medford, Oregon and thought if I ever wanted to have it again, I'd have to fly back there! Of course my latte was spot on. The space is kind of small and very bright, on the end of a strip mall near a gas station. Definitely a great space to sit and work on your laptop for a bit. read more

The music and overall ambient conversation is much too loud to get much work done. Power outlets are in short supply as well. The place is well staffed, and they had my drinks out in a jiffy. They keep the drive-thru lane moving along at a pretty fast clip. I had a latte, which tasted just fine, and a strawberry smoothie which isn't creamy at all - it's bright and icy, probably made from a mix of some kind. Calories are helpfully listed alongside the drink prices and there's a selection of pastries at the front counter. Single use gender neutral bathrooms in the back are clean and functional. This shop is a little out of my way, but if you happen by the North of Dallas area, it's worth checking out. read more

I found Black Rock through their promos for opening week & now we're hooked! The customer service is incredible, the drive-thru moves so quick & I've never felt rushed. They offer something for even non-coffee drinkers, and their promos & deals keep things interesting. 20min each way for coffee, you know it must be good!! My only complaint is their "smoothies" should rightfully be called milkshakes. While there is some fruit paste in them, they are ice cream based - a fact I didn't learn until I ordered my kiddos SMOOTHIES for dinner only to have them & my hubby declare "there's ice cream in this!!" (I'm dairy free so I didn't try them). I confirmed later by asking a barista what exactly is in the smoothies. When I went it wasn't busy at all. The place was pretty quiet and lots of natural sunlight which I love. The mural is really nice to look at and it's a nice fun place to catch up with any friends you haven't seen in a while. You can also study here or just use it to get out of this texas heat. The service is amazing everytime l! They are quick in the drive through or in store. I go here to study and I love. The only thing I personal don't like is the sweetness of the drinks to me they are really sweet but I also am not a fan of sugar so take that with a grain of salt. If your someone who likes coffee but not the taste of coffee these are good for you. Prices are comparable to Starbucks maybe a little more depending on what you get from either place. They also have a rewards so you can get a free coffee every now and then I believe it's after ten coffees but I am not sure but I wish it was after 6 or 7 so you can get one a week if your someone who goes every week. read more

Was so excited to join this business for its grand opening today. It's a beautiful shop with, what looks to be, a ton or great drink options. I enjoyed the ambience and feels of this shop... though I would make the suggestion to either get a loud speaker or number system for calling out orders because it's too loud inside to hear your name when they call out the drinks. A new addition to the coffee scene here in the ever growing Plano/Murphy/Sachse area, they ran a free coffee event which absolutely attracts foodies like me. I brought my brother along to diversify options and see what they've got to offer. Service was fast and easy at the register. The young man running the register knew instantly where to go to get our exact orders in. Props to him. When it came to picking it up, it was a different story. Drinks got disorganized, they didn't say my full name and I'm fairly certain they didn't make my coffee with the correct creams and sugars. Their drive through had to close as it was too much for them, I can't really blame them there. As for the drinks themselves, both myself and others agree that their base coffee blend is pretty solid but they do not have their drink recipes down. Their Chillers are more akin to a burger shop milkshake with a shot of coffee than a caffeine drink. Their cold brew tasted heavily watered down, enough that I barely felt or tasted the coffee. Not ideal. If this was a cafe situation I might be more forgiving but coffee is supposed to be their entire thing so it's time to face the music. Overall, I'm not going to be taking the extra time to go out here. For what it's worth, I am definitely aware of how trash Starbucks is as an establishment besdies coffee wise so take what you will. Support small, local businesses where they'll remember your coffee just how you like it. It might not be as fast or cheap, but for quality and consistency it's worth it. read more

March 19, 2021 Grand Opening Day at the new Sachse, TX location for Black Rock Coffee Bar! All drinks made by baristas are On-The-House today! Drive-thru is staging from the Storage business lot behind, so the parking lot does not get blocked. BR staff has extra people out in the lot keeping the herd calm LOL ( Doing a great job! ) I went in the lobby instead, and fought the crowd. Well, I stood in line. BUT, it was worth it. Blended Chocolate Chip was very good! I wanted a blended Americano, but NAY dude! Thought it would be easier? Hmmm must be a scientific reason. Clean industrial look, with wood tables & seats. Only 2 chairs have cushy cushions. Overhead music was club beats, grinding more to the younger crowd. Caffeine & gym pump & jump tunes! No rest for the wicked here. Drive thru has a red curb to keep other cars from bouncing into customers. It is not a grinder for your muffler or transmission! Some customers were getting their drink, then turning hard right over the curb! CRUNCH. Hope everybody had fun. I will be back later for a proper review. Congrats BR! read more

I have sat on this feedback for months, hoping things would improve. I have spent thousands of dollars at this Blackrock location because I do feel like the coffee is superior to other coffee place. That said, the service here has digressed to the literal worst. They aren't friendly, they no longer use the speaker box in the drive-through which leads to a 20 minute wait time if there are only 3 cars. One day, it was taking even longer than normal.. low and behold, the only other employee working was left to do everything while a gentleman in crop top chatted with his friends at the counter. No big deal IF there were more than 2 people working AND the poor girl wasn't on her own, working the window and making all the drinks. The staff they had last summer compared to this summer is a night and day difference, and not in a good way. Makes you wonder how they are treating their employees. It's also sad because another Starbucks just opened across the street, and this week alone I've left and gone to Dutch Bros when I saw the line was longer than 3 cars. Terrible. I was so excited to try this coffee bar. I'm a coffee addict. I placed my order about 15 minutes ahead of time. When I arrived, they hadn't even seen the order and didn't know what I was talking about. Ok, cool. Not a huge deal. Once they found it, however, they were rude, as if I was putting them out by having ordered coffee at their coffee shop lol. I waited just under 20 more minutes! There was no one else in line inside the store. It was insane. Still, I love coffee. I'll wait. Maybe it'll be really delicious?? ... Needed a place to study so I decided to try this place. I believe I ordered a Mexican latte or something like that. I wish I had just gotten a normal latte or a mocha. It tasted good at first, but after a while the spices didn't sit well with me. I would definitely come again and try another drink because I really liked the space for studying. It's rather embarrassing how often my husband and I find ourselves in the drive-thru for a fuel. The staff is always so friendly and engaging! One of the employees actually remembered us from a previous visit and mentioned it to us. I love the rewards program! My kids ask how I have so many free drinks. I love that I can stack the free drinks to get two free drinks in one trip. My husband is a fan of the Mai Tai fuel. I always get the grapefruit fuel, but the options are endless with the amount of syrups they have. I love that you can even order a fuel "sour". Best pick me up! read more

This was my first time trying Black Rock. This is hands down some of the best coffee and bagels I've had in my life. Period.

I went in earlier to day wanting to get a hot Irish coffee and asked if the store can break a one-hundred dollar bill. One of the nice young ladies taking my order had to apologize to me because the store doesn't have enough change to do so and told me that she will pay for my order. Most coffee shops don't give away coffees so it caught me by surprise. I thanked her for her generosity and will definitely repay her kindness on my next visit. I don't usually get coffee from here, however I came today to pick up a gift card for my sibling. The real reason why I gave this place two stars is mainly based on how the lady taking my order through the drive thru was talking to me. I feel like this girl (like most teenagers nowadays) had no social sense at all. At first I said, "Hi, I would like a gift card please." The teenager responded, "Sure, would you like a drink?" I said, "No thanks, just a gift card." This is where the experience went bad when she responded, "Got it, gift card? Would you like a drink as well?" Hearing this made me lose faith in the upcoming generation. However I kept my temper in check and responded simply, "Nope no drink. Just a gift card." Without missing a beat the girl just HAD to say, "Ok, so what drink would you like with that?" I figured at this point that she was having trouble hearing me, because after all it was pouring rain. I don't know if she said anything else, because I just decided to pull up to the window instead of losing it on that kid. I pulled up to the window and THANK GOD because somebody else was at the window. However, he asked what I needed. I figured that the girl taking my order probably felt disrespected as to the fact that I just left her without a response. However the new guy seemed to actually have common sense and I took it easy on him and simply told him I wanted a gift card. He hands it to me and DONE.
