The ingredients are local, the menu is seasonal and the daily specials are well considered, fresh and all-round delightful. Though I don't drink, I understand the gin (and tonic) selection to be incredible. Whilst definitely not the cheapest place to eat locally, it is more than reasonable with the fresh, local ingredients and the skill obviously put into making them. Most recently I visited and between three of us sampled (read: devoured) some cod cheek tempura, scallops with an avocado purée, sesame tempura prawns, fish & chips and a double-serving of seafood chowder. These were mainly daily specials and so I had requested earlier in the day that they didn't run out of chowder for me. It honestly is the best thing ever. Saying that - as much as I adore chowder - the cod cheeks are amongst the best dishes I have ever tasted. The food is seasoned perfectly. However, the starter of halibut was overcooked and we hardly recognised it as halibut and we did not really feel relaxed. The decor was 'fisherman' inspired which may not appeal to all - although we do like it. However, it seems best to avoid anything that is not fish or vegeterian as the other dishes can be of variable quality. The price of the food is expensive for Lowestoft but reasonable for those used to paying City prices. We will go back, but will stick to the fish.

We were made to go back into the bar area to be allocated a table number.
