Great place. There is a huge selection of moonshine flavors and many other items for sale in the store. The staff was helpful and very friendly. There is a nice outside area where where you can play a game of cornhole or just relax and enjoy a cocktail or slushie. I loved the decor both inside and out. Saw the billboard on highway 80 for Blackbirds and decided to see what it's about. The distillery is about a mile and a half from the highway, easy enough to get to. When you arrive, there's interesting silhouettes of blackbirds and vintage items. There was a Blackbirds Distillery cornhole game outside ready to play. They sell them custom made, not sure of the price. As soon as you walk in you're greeted and asked if you've been there before. The young man who greeted me took the time to explain who they are, what they make and the store layout. The store itself is small, rather dark and quaint. There are a LOT of items for purchase such as: moonshine bbq sauces, jellys, underwear, head rags and even hillbilly teeth. This along with signs and sayings up and over the walls. Somehow though, this adds to the charm as it doesn't seem crowded or seedy. You are allowed 3 tiny samples of the moonshine. So choose wisely as there are close to two dozen ready. *interesting tidbit: I was told they vary the proof every couple months/batches just as old moonshiners would have done due to not being able to make it consistent, as they can now with technology. I took my time and sampled my three. Holy cow... strong. I ended up getting a bottle of Chocolate Strawberry corn shine. They also have a fridge with fresh made cheeses reasonably priced. I picked up some buffalo spiced cheese. I did get a giggle... the restroom has signs inside telling folks to hurry up and other bathroom humor. There even was a book available. That days selection was the Beverly Hillbillies. The restroom is disabled accessible, very neat and clean. I'm glad that I stopped. I'll stop again in when they have all the fall flavors that I saw on a brochure! Apple and pumpkin anyone? read more

We always stop at Blackbird Distillery when we visit Cook Forest. This visit I picked up some smoked Buffalo Cheddar Cheese. It's so good. Every time I slice off a piece.. my kitchen fills with this Smokey aroma .. so good!! I plan on making homemade mac and cheese with it! We love the cheese and dry goods the distillery offers... so fun. There are picnic tables outside and even corn hole. If you haven't already visited .. what are you are waiting for?! Great spontaneous stop. The owner, last name Black, was very hospitable and energetic. She made us feel welcomed and earned the money we spent. Excellent moonshine! We couldn't sample any meats/cheeses because of Covid, but it gives us an excuse to stop by again. They also offer a variety of pickles and jarred products. Looking forward to our next visit. This is a must any time we are even remotely close enough to pop in. It's hard for me to pick a favorite because each moonshine I've tried is good but I think the hot cinnamon, the pineapple and the root beer are my favs. My husband prefers the American because he is a bourbon guy. Definitely worth checking out even if it is out of your way. You won't be disappointed! read more

First thing that has to be said, this moonshine is delicious and smooth. I had the blackbird which is the second strongest shine they have. Unlike most moonshines there is no burn after drinking it. Is it strong? Yes. But very smooth. After talking to the owners son we came to find out that this was the second distillery ever in the state. The offer 3 free samples of there products. All three were different in taste and different in alcohol content. Aside from moonshine they also have jams, smoked meats and cheeses and drink mixes to compliment different moonshines. We settled on the orange cream shine with an orange mix that makes your drink taste like orange cream popsicles. You can't even taste the alcohol but you can feel the warmth. Take some time to talk to the gentleman behind the bar and you'll get some good tips some good offerings based on your taste and some good conversation. I do the drive from Ohio to New York frequently and always see the sign for this moonshine distillery. I am usually driving on a deadline so cant pull over to explore but this time I wasn't so decided what's the worst thing that could happen when pulling into a moonshine distillery with 5 hours left to drive. I spoke to the owners son who was working there and he told me all about moonshine and how the distilleries have been popping up all over PA. While I couldn't enjoy the full experience of moon shine sampling I did ask for their best seller and once I was done with the drive I poured myself a shot of the Apple black which was amazing. Amazing can't even begin to describe this place. Yeah, it's small, but what they lack in size they make up in pretty much everything else. The products are top notch, and they service is beyond comparison. They are friendly, helpful, and strive to make everyone who walks in the door feel welcome. And if you think it's only moonshine, you would be wrong (although they have at least 15 flavors, all fantastic). They have meats, cheeses, sauces, pickled veggies,glasses, shirts, cozies, etc Anytime I'm in Brookville, I stop by without fail to stock up on shine and friendly conversation. This hillbilly themed distillery is a full experience, from the decor to the staff. We were there while the owner was there, a loud, hilarious woman who spouted off the moonshine flavors and their proofs, a brief history of the place and their process. All homemade, there are about a dozen or more flavors of shine---all of which you are welcome to sample except their house special 130 something proof shine which might leave you on the floor anyway. One of their most popular flavors is the Apple Pie. They also have a variety of homemade jar goods: pickles, peppers, bbq sauces, cocktail mixes, as well as smoked cheeses, meats, bologna and jerky. They have Cornhole set up outside and plenty of spots for funny and unique photo ops. It's close off the boulevard so it's quick access from I-80. read more

Omg! This place is just nice! It was hard to choose which moonshine to get! It was very smooth! There are a variety of flavors! We ended up getting the apple, cherry and orange creamsicle flavor! The staff is very nice and knowledgeable! We did not feel rushed when we were deciding on what to get. The price is very reasonable as well! read more

This is a real experience. The place is immaculate and the selections of flavors of moonshine really surprised me. In addition to the moonshine, they have lots of other interesting items they sell. What really made the experience for me was the woman hosting at the store. She is quite a hoot. Enjoyed her storytelling and personality. It fit right in with the Moonshine ambiance. Blackbird Distillery is located in Brookville,PA and I've been wanting to check it out since they opened. Went on the 4th of July and they were booming with business. The building is huge and very clean. As soon as you walk in you are greeted. They pride themselves on making moonshine the old fashioned way and you can tell! So many different flavors to choose from including blackcherry, apple pie, peach, banana, pineapple, etc. I bought a bottle of the blackcherry which will not last long. Also, they have smoked meats and cheeses as well as canned pickles and peppers. I also had to get the smoked jalapenos and smoked hot pepper cheese. This place is definitely worth the drive and I cannot wait to go back and get some of that blueberry shine once they have it available! read more
