I spent a long weekend eating and drinking my way around Duluth, and my favorite brewery we stopped at was Blacklist! It has such a fun atmosphere, but also a wide variety of great drinks!! I LOVED the seltzers, particularly the blueberry basil, but the peach hazy IPA and the Razz beer were also amazing! Also, their beers are on the stronger side so take note if you are trying to pace yourself! Now for the fun-- Blacklist also has axe throwing!! It is pretty affordable, too. It cost $100 for my group of 6 to play for an hour. The instructor was also super personable and helpful! He kept it safe but also super fun, and he was able to step in when someone needed help but hang out when we were doing okay on our own. He also ensured no one ever had an empty glass and everyone was having fun!! I would recommend Blacklist to absolutely anyone, and would totally come back when in Duluth! read more

While walking around Duluth prior to All Pints North I made a pit stop for a flight. Peach Hazy A Hazy IPA with Peach that brings you back to sitting on the beaches of the lake eating a summer beach. No. 15 Pale Ale: A down to earth original Pale Ale with lovely orange and tropical fruit notes, with a nice bitter backbone. Or de Belgique A Belgian Gold Strong with a touch of sweetness with waves of bitterness and malt flavors. We were doing our own brewery tour- going from one place to another. This was our last stop and I didn't really enjoy anything except their seltzer. I am not big on seltzers but it was tasty. The flight of beers I got were all SKUNKY. I hate that. It makes me wonder what happened?!?! I didn't finish any of them. They have some pinball games inside. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The beer is so good here! Def worth checking out if you're in the Duluth area. I also enjoyed the vibe - there's brick walls, painted wall mural, & bright lights. They have a bunch of board games too. The beertender was friendly and he was cool with letting my group taste a few of the brews. I landed on the Or De Belgique or say "ODB" if you don't want to make a fool of yourself trying to pronounce it :D I liked that it was fruity and wheaty- very flavorful & not boring. I also liked the Cran, a Belgian with the right balance of cranberries coming through. My friends enjoyed their stouts very much. Overall, I'm impressed by the sophisticated beers. If you like beer, you'll def appreciate this place. It's nice they also have seltzers tho so the non-beer person in our group, didn't make us chug our beer and go somewhere else. She enjoyed her seltzer which allowed the rest of us to stay and try out a couple beers! I see what you did there Blacklist (*high-five)! The only downside is that it's paid street parking only. Had an amazing experience at blacklist! Went right at opening time on a Saturday. Felt safe with covid precautions. The beer selection is varied and there's something for everyone. The dill pickle beer was a fun drink- served with a real pickle! The seltzer flavors were out of this world. They have a few snacks available. We drove by Blacklist the last couple of times we were in Duluth and finally made it in to sit down for a few brews. The space right on Superior Street is easy to miss but is well worth seeking out. First, the space is just lovely. It's big and relaxing with a totally chill vibe that completely fits Duluth. The bar is long and inviting and you can choose to belly up there or have a seat at a table. Second the beer is excellent. I stuck with the Wit, which struck me as a really good and better-than-average take on this style of beer. It has more orange/citrus notes than say a Mothership Wit, but is still such an easy drinker that I could easily down a couple of these with no problem. My husband tried the Finally We Got Our IPA and the Last Pale on Earth, both of which he really liked (he liked Last Pale on Earth better by a touch). And while we're talking about it, if I could give a sixth star for the funniest beer name I've heard in a long, long time, I would award it here. If you don't get the joke, you're not cool enough to know. OK, just trolling you. If you don't get the joke, Google "Last Place on Earth" and Duluth. Our bar tender was super nice and friendly. We had a nice little chat with him. He was really helpful and happy to chat with us about the various beers. Hands down my favorite brewery in Duluth. since the last time we visited they did a little renovating! That means they added some fun! Axe throwing!They have three lanes which fit up to six people each. We didn't get in this time but, we make sure to stop in every Duluth visit so it's definitely in the cards. We have a complete blast every time we visit! Its legit not just about the beer but, the expericne. We have a blast each time and the wonderful staff have a lot to do with that! Shout of to Meg from our last visit! The beer is great in my opinion! They also started up a whole menu of hard Seltzers made with Valkre Distillery syrups. We tried the cranberry-ginger, grapefruit, and plain. These are the best seltzers a brewery has made before. They aren't overly sugary. They are clean, crisp, and delicious. They are very refreshing. As for the beer. I enjoyed it all. My personal favorite was the bourbon barreled Cherry Imperial Stout they had on tap. It was smooth with cherry, bourbon, and chocolate notes. I did try a few times during the week to book a time to try the axes but couldn't seem to get lucky enough. Oh my god. Decided to try Blacklist Artisan Ales on a whim with some girlfriends. Best decision ever. Our waiter was incredibly welcoming and nicely laughed at all our jokes. Blacklist is absolutely fantastic! I tried their Raspberry Seltzer, which is the first time I've seen a seltzer at a brewery. It tasted much smoother and less carbonated than a White Claw - certainly the best seltzer I've ever tasted. I would certainly recommend it for the seltzers. Really enjoyed the space and the beers that we had. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and it was fairly open, so super easy to find a table to hang out. The staff was all very friendly and seemed knowledgeable about their beers. They are happy to let you sample anything before you order if you wish. The do offer some snacks (pretzels, popcorn, meat sticks etc.) if you need some food while you're there. They had a wide range of games as well. We were disappointed that all the beers on tap were also available to purchase in any liquor store. We were hoping to try out some tap room exclusives or something we hadn't had before. Very interesting concept of a brewery that specializes in wheat beers only. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't as busy as I expected. We sat at the bar with a couple other people walking around. There was only one bartender working but he was attentive and friendly. I tried the rhubarb wheat and my fiancé ordered the BIPA. I would categorize the Rhubarb as a little sour with undertones of sweetness, perfect for summer. The BIPA has significant flavors of citrus combined with the hops. The creative design of the cans is great marketing tactic and makes for awesome indoor art decor. If they could bring in some live music or serve snacky food they could be a lot busier. read more

Cool place! Love the garage door, especially when it is open to Superior Street! The decor is awesome as I love the brick, taproom feel. Service is relatively quick, always have friendly outgoing bartenders and cocktailers who take care of us. It can take a little when it gets busy but that is relatively understandable since there's only one bar for a full taproom. We play cards with friends often there, great spot for a couple casual drinks. We usually grab food from across the street at Black Water Lounge before going over as they let you bring food in - love this! By a million miles our favorite brewery. Not only do they have great beer AND seltzers (a wide variety of styles and flavors), but they are even better people. The staff is always super fun and great!! Axe throwing is a blast and now that they are in their new BIG location (just a block from their old spot) it's even better! It's our top recommendation to anyone that is coming up to the North Shore. I would highly suggest the Hefeweizen or their classic "ODB", and my fiancé's favorite all time seltzer is their Raspberry. Blacklist is one of our favorite breweries up north. Their beer has always been delicious, and they have a great selection to choose from. We spent time with Ray, a very friendly, knowledgeable bar manager who also manages the axe throwing at Blacklist. He taught us a lot about the Blacklist way of making beer and all of the beers we tasted that night. If you can, try the Pablano Makrut Wit! It has a slight spice to it with a very smooth finish. The venue is long and narrow with an opening the back with board games and tables to pass the time while waiting. Beer was expensive, obviously, but no wait at the bar. By the time the show started, the place was packed. 50% drunk idiots, 50% pleasant beer/music enthusiasts. Lovely small venue; we had a great time. The bathrooms were bad.
