Absolute 5 star experience here. We entered right at they opened at 11 on a Saturday. I told our sever that I had an event coming up at noon so we'd be ordering right away, and by golly, the staff took care of us. Drinks, followed by poutine 5 minutes later, then food about 10 minutes after that. We were all done within 30 minutes! The food was fantastic, too. Delicious poutine, with oozy gooey squeaky cheese curds. I had the smoked fish salad; it had the right amounts of everything and felt like a distinctly Duluth dish. My husband had the fish and chips. I had a bite of his fish, and it was perfect, with great batter and flavor. I would happily come here again on a visit. I can see why this is a city institution. read more

The service here was spot on. Our server was extremely attentive and was not bothered at all when I kept asking for jalapenos. It was a bit chilly today, but those pickled jalapenos really helped. The seating was nice. It's great it was dog friendly, but I would recommend going on a warmer day, Iif you're bringing your furry friends. We had the bbq burger(added jalapenos) w/onion rings and poutine. I usually end up not liking the poutine at places, but will try it. Here, I actually really liked it, and will definitely get it again. The same for the onion rings, they were crispy and not too greasy. We also got the inhouse made root beer. First this place is connected to a hotel and also to several shops that are dog friendly. That was awesome because we had our dogs with us, they got treats , pets and attention. You can't go into this establishment with your dogs but they have seating outside where you can sit with your dogs. Our server was so A plus! Loved his energy and how friendly he was . We took his recommendations for their root beer, a definite need to try in my opinion. We go their poutine which was delicious! I got a Reuben which had generous amounts of meat. You know what shopping can be exhausting! at the Fitger's building. Located right on the bike path on Lake Superior this place offers a bit of nostalgia, scenic views, shopping, and eating and drinking. I can wax poetic about wandering around the building but, that can be for another time. The brewhouse is a cool place to hang after you've become weary of hitting all the shops on Canal street. Nestled in the old brewery you will experience first and foremost some solid beers (take some crowlers home with you), and some decent food. I think we at lunch here three times? I think one kind of gets tricked into eating here. One starts with a couple beers, then an appetizer, and the next thing you know, you're onto an entree without giving it a second thought. Honestly, I don't think I had anything or tasted anything that was bad. My favorites here are: 1. Poutine: fries, cheese curds, bacon and gravy? that is always a winner. 2. Elote Dip is super good. I'd fight somebody for the last scoop of the dip. 3. the Pretzels are good. Love the cheese sauce....I would ask for mustard too, but that is just me. 4. Pimento Cheeseburger is a favorite like the little bit of kick it offers with the Jalapenos, and it was made medium rare for me to boot I did try a bit of the Wild Rice burger. It was OK, non-meat options are not my gig for a burger. the person who ordered this, truly enjoyed it. I also want to mention the their beer is fresh, well-made, and there is usually a taproom only beer available. I have missed it the last few years but, they had a barleywine that was outstanding. The food, drinks and service was wonderful. We ordered the Bootlegger w/Bourbon, a beer, and for dinner: The three little pigs sandwich, and fish fry. The sandwich was vey tasty, but how could it not with pork carnitas, shaved ham and bacon. The place gets very busy so you might have to wait. Service: We had a group of 15, and they kindly accommodated us in their upstairs room, which had plenty of seating for us. Service was prompt and friendly and accurate! Hard to do with a large party, which they did well. Ambience: it's dark and cozy inside, small, with tables and bar area as well . Food: we all either got burgers, fries, onion rings, or salads. Ate at Fitger's for a late lunch while exploring Duluth. This brewpub is apart of the Fitger's complex which included several shops along the boardwalk and waterfront. The brewpub was casual and a bit of a greasy spoon diner type of feel- at least divey and rustic with dated and well worn interior in the historic building. Kitchen was semi open so food prep and grill were audible, apart of the aroma, and partially visible. I had some concerns with cleanliness. I opened my menu to find a spot of mystery sauce when first seated and then also noted my napkin wrapped silverware were also spotted with something. Beyond that, I noticed the floors were also sticky when going to the restroom. My partner and I ordered and shared the featured burger, a spicy pickle burger with onion rings ($19.48). Burger and accompanying condiments went well with pretzel bun- definitely was a decent albeit a bit pricey burger and onion rings. Service was friendly and relatively prompt. read more

Cool brewery in a historic building right along Lake Superior! The barrel room is very nice for a causal drink with friends. We ordered the Three Little Pigs sandwich and smoked fish wrap, both were really good. The wrap is pretty bland besides the smoked flavor. Wish it's got more to it. An EPIC disastrous dinning out on our vacation. Never experienced a dining out this BAD. First of all we had reservation. We waited for 45 minutes, no table in sight until we suggested to split our group of 5 adults and 3 children into two tables. We finally got seated in the upstairs area. This is where bad experience got worse. The restaurant has very poor ventilation/exhaust system. The smoky air burned our eyes within 5 mns. Then the lungs started to complaint. Our 7 year old boy stated to plug his nose and asked what's going on in the room. We could not take This hazardous environment any longer. The sir in here is worse than the outdoor air during the wild fire at 900 air quality index. We left. The health department should shut this place down for the sake of the employees who work at the grill and the staff who has to work in the upstairs room. I will call the health department to express our concern. If you care about your health, DO NOT go to this restaurant and settle for the upstair seating Never thought Mc Donald would be such an attractive choice after we left Fitger!!! read more

Came in here with my fiancé on a Sunday for lunch & the place did not disappoint whatsoever. I got a sour beer that was amazing. Love the selection of beers with great names. I got the 3 Little Pigs Sandwich. Was going to get the Poutine Burger but they got me on the * next to this one. The meal did not disappoint whatsoever. The sandwich was piled high with meat & was absolutely delicious. Great interior feeling like you're at a dive bar but not too divey. Very Public market type feel too which is great on a cold day when you don't really want to walk outside. While visiting Duluth we last minute wanted a place to get a quick bite to eat around 8pm. Many places had long waits, but luckily we were able to get a booth here right away. The place was full, which is always a good sign. Charming place, very nice on a chilly night. It's cozy. I got a chicken quesadilla which hit the spot after a long day, along with a couple beers. I love the location and the hours. Of course, a lot of the food is fried/pub food, though I could have made better choices - it seems like they put a decent burger, if I recall. I went with the 3pc fish & the hubs with the 2 fish tacos. His was admittedly better, though they used the same fish. Now, it's important to note that the beer battered cod is on par with your 60pc frozen bag for $18 @ wholesale stores. This makes $15 seem excessive but, location and all. The pricing wasn't horrible but, again, not great... average. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great & I do wish I'd gone with a different option. Beer was tasty. read more

While staying at Endion Inn in Duluth, I received some free drink tickets for Fitger's Brewhouse or one of the other locations part of the restaurant group. I had a hankering for a great burger, so I visited Fitger's Brewhouse. I got to sit with one of the brewers and had a great conversation over a couple beers. For food, I went with their burger special, the PBJ Burger. I don't remember everything this burger had, but the theme was spicy. It had pepperjack cheese and pepper jam. It was delicious - enough said. For beers, I had two different ones. - Shades On: A Saison that had a nice pepper flavor, and nice dry finish. Floral hops envelope your nostrils as you take sip after sip. - Caramel Delight: Yes, I did it. Randomly came across Fitgers while making a day trip to Duluth from Minneapolis. It was mid afternoon on a Sunday and the restaurant was fairly busy. The waitress was pleasant and helpful answering questions about items on the menu. I was able to sample the beer I was interested in. I drank the oatmeal stout, which was good enough to have if I came again, The variety on the menu was different from other pubs I have visited. It included smoked trout and elk. The food came out very quickly. I had a wild rice burger, which I enjoyed. The side I chose was the coleslaw and I thought it was excellent. My son ate a queso burger with very delicious onion rings on the side. Although I am not from the area, I would be happy to return and eat here again. read more

Started with delicious incredibly crisp cheese curds and landed on the spicy pickle burger and it did not disappoint! Perfectly cooked ground patty with a touch of pink, pepper jack cheese. Jalapeños, pickles and amazing cherry pepper relish on the house made pretzel bun. Flavor was outstanding with sweet and spicy. Our large party/hockey team was able to be sat and served immediately with INCREDIBLE service by Arianna and staff. Truly above any expectations especially with our party size. Very impressed with Arianna's ability to give us all exceptional service and every order correct with zero hiccups. Another great spot on my recent trip up to Duluth. We heard many locals suggest this place. The cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had. They are cubed and there is a lot of cheese inside. They weren't greasy either. The burger was a decent sized patty and the thick cut bacon really made the sandwich in my opinion. My friend tried the blue cheese wild rice burger and loved it. The restaurant itself is inside the mall to the left. Very easy to get to. The bartender was very easy to talk to and the food was served quickly and hot. I didn't take a picture of it, but I mixed an apricot beer with a spicy beer. Great balance and tasty brew combo. read more

Wow what a great local spot to stop at when visiting Duluth. There's a free parking lot and a pay per hour ramped parking lot next to the building making it super easy for new visitors like myself. Ambiance-wise this place really set the mood for MN. A causal setting with lots of seating and friendly service. I will say I did not expect this place to be in a mall so it was also fun to walk around after eating. Food Jerk pork wrap was delicious. Good amount of flavor along with their crispy fries. We recently were visiting from out of town, looking for a place to eat lunch and watch the beginning of the Viking's game. Went to the host at the Brewhouse and asked if they were serving lunch and had would be showing the game, he said yes, but I can't guarantee you can sit near a television! The place was about a quarter full, we said why? He replied he needed to be equitable with how he seated the tables and sections. We said okay and left! He was a complete jerk! Had been there before and had friendly service, hopefully the rest of the staff doesn't have that type of attitude. read more

What a disappointment!! Food was below average and the service was average. Ordered cheese curds, the pretzel, fish tacos, kids fish meal and wild rice burger. The cheese curds and fish were fried in dirty fry oil, the pretzel was okay and the wild rice burger lacked seasoning. I ordered one THC seltzer and they charged me for 4. They also added a 5% service charge for the kitchen?!?! It's super lame to add a service charge for BOH employees, the restaurant should take the 5% from their profits and not the customer. It would be better to raise their menu prices instead of surprising the customer at the end of meal. I will not be back again, there are plenty of better options in town. Fun, casual, chill, and big. Lots of tables, lots of food options, very filling. It was the perfect stop after hiking all day and driving. My group and i all got different wild rice burgers. I got their pub style burger, which was super yummy. My two other group mates got the classic style wild rice burger. My pub style was very good, and whoever made my burger made a design on the bun out of the chipotle sauce (they drew an angry face, it was really good honestly). I loved that extra detail lol. The burger also came with fries that were the perfect salty snack after sweating all day while hiking. As our final lunch before heading back to the cities, we decided to try this spot for the first time. It was nice and quiet, but busy enough for a Monday. I couldn't pass up on the caramel delight ale once our waitress mentioned it and I'm glad I didn't. It's one of the best ales with caramel notes that I've ever tried! For my meal I ordered a mildly spicy special roasted red bell pepper bisque with a delicious smoked lake trout wrap and addicting dressing for slathering on n dipping. Stopped here for dinner, during our high point trip to Eagle Mountain. Right on Lake Superior; although we were there at night in November. Part of a hotel / shopping experience. Typical brew-house experience. We started with bloody mary's; they were good and spicy. They came with an 8oz beer backer; which I haven't experienced with other bloody marys. I had the local wheat beer which was pretty good. We paired these with a plate of poutine, and a plate of nachos. Both were quite large; although neither was all that impressive from a taste perspective. For dinner we split a wild rice burger; we had never heard of this before, but had passed by quite a few 'wild rice lakes' on the way in, and many gas stations/other stores were selling wild rice by the pound. Never knew it was something MN was famous for. The burger was very good; we had it pub style, with swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms and onions. Staff was friendly, and quick. If in Duluth again might take a look at staying in the hotel (we had Maisie our dog with us so hotel options were limited) and stopping back in for a beer.
