I came here two years ago for the first time and had to return as it was my favorite brewery in the area. There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a lot of fun events posted on their socials- I wish I was local to attend them. I appreciated their NA options as that's my life at the moment. I miss the beer but enjoyed my NA seltzer. We decided to have a little date night here on a Friday afternoon. It is a great place to hang out, catch up with a friend, and enjoy some entertainment. The lines were super short and the employees were very nice. The best part, I think, is that there is something to drink for every person in your group! They had a plethora of fun-named beers on tap, THC drinks, and their house made root beer was fantastic. We decided to bring our own food (some delicious Vitta Pizza) to eat with our delicious drinks. They did have a food truck outside and they also have a couple snacks, like pretzels, for purchase at the bar. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Stopped by on my way out of town to try their THC seltzers. I'm familiar with their beer and have visited before, but wanted to try their new canna beverages. I had the puff pineapple dragonfruit 10mg which the staff member explained was a sparkling water, similar to a lacroix. He was spot on. It was refreshing after a day of hiking. Also, love the can design. I brought my dog who received TWO treats from the brewery staff - lucky dog! Their patio lawn was awesome and they had dog bowls and water for the dogs who came. It wasn't very busy so this was a very relaxing experience for both me and my dog (who can get antsy being on a leash). Ended up buying two 4-packs of the canna beverages. The puff cloudberry dragonfruit and the Hightrend Mary Jane's mule (I've had this before and it's my fav!! It tastes just like a Moscow mule). They gave me a punch card, buy 10 4-packs get the 11th free. I've always liked this brewery and their products so next time I'm in Duluth, they'll be seeing me! read more

We were in Duluth for an afternoon and this was one of our stops! My husband got an IPA and I got a nitro stout, both very solid beers but nothing unique enough to make me crave to go back to this place. I met my friend Ryan W. here for drinks. We had a great time drinking for nearly two hours and at least a couple rounds. It is a comfy spot with a neat vibe that was comfortable for conversation and for drinking. One of the good breweries in Duluth. Cozy place in one corner (with a fireplace), outdoor sitting by the patio or at the yard, a live performance stage at the other corner. This place has everything to offer. The beer selection is extensive but I like their unique selection like Oreo stout. Good selection of beer, good choices of food (soup salad and sandwiches). Though price is on the high side, the sandwich portion is gigantic. Almost guarantee taking some left over home. Their skinny French fries is pretty cool. We stopped by to grab a drink while waiting for the popular nearby OMC Smokehouse. This place was super clean and excellently run and designed. I loved the huge open area, with tons of seating options indoors and outdoors. We settled on a giant cozy curved booth, but they had an even cozier place right by the fireplace that I'd love to sit at next time. I tried the Wilderness Tuxedo (Sour Ale) and it was fantastic. We stopped in here to try the beer. They don't serve food but allow it to be brought in. There are several restaurants close by. I had the Blimey beer, an English pale ale. Bright open-air feel; friendly and helpful staff; amazing beer! After tasting the beer at a local restaurant, I wanted to stop in and grab some to go. Even though I was just getting a quick can on the run I was greeted and treated like a VIP. I bought a 26 oz crowler (fat aluminum can) for about $10. Great value for some really tasty beer. I'm looking forward to returning when I can sit for a while with my wife and enjoy the atmosphere and more brews. I saw games available to play and the seating was not cramped. We walked in without a reservation, and were told the wait would be about an hour. Within 15min we got a text saying our table was ready, which was a pleasant surprise. Atmosphere was a classic brewery... inviting and filled with talking and laughter. The staff was great. Knowledgeable and willing to talk through recommendations. I went for a flight. I tried 3 light, floral options - and they didn't impress me, but that might have been because they aren't my usual go-to style. I ended up enjoying my 4th beer the best, the Kanu, which was perfectly hoppy... It's a flagship for a reason. I'd probably stick to their flagships moving forward. The Bent Paddle Tap room is big but laid out in a way that still feels cozy. There's a variety of seating, indoor and out, and the bare wood and brick make for a cool vibe. There was live music the Wednesday evening we stopped in and there are a variety of games - darts, football etc. As for the beer, we tried the Wilderness Tuxedo, Trampled, petit Gris, Venture Pils, 14 Degrees ESB, and the Root Beer. If you're a beer enthusiast it's hard not to stop at Bent Paddle if you're in Duluth -- or even passing through for that matter. Their taproom space is just flat out fun. If you're not familiar with their story, the name comes from when one of their founders was head brewer at a previous job and he would stir the mash with a bent shaft canoe paddle. Of course that's a perfect name for a brewery that resides in the gateway to the north shore of Lake Superior. Their multiple IPAs are top notch and there's always a variety seasonally as well. We absolutely adored the old Bent Paddle tap room and have patronized it on every trip to Duluth pretty much since it opened, but the one issue with it was that it was just too small to handle the crowd a lot of the time. I know, so popular. First world problems and all. Well, the new taproom, which is conveniently less than a block away from the old one, solves that particular problem in spades. First, some geography. If you know where the old tap room was, and you are familiar with the large parking lot next to it, you can still park there. Just walk in the opposite direction that you normally would and look up when you hit the street. That's it. It's seriously like a half block away (aka, just across the parking lot). That's great because I am not a fan of big changes. Second, it is beautiful. Pretty.... so pretty! The new taproom is much larger than the old one, with an expansive long bar that stretches along a lot of the room and is clearly much more capable of handling a capacity crowd. Taps galore, hallelujah! The artwork is lovely (I am seriously in love with the huge impressionist painting of Duluth in the back corner). There is also a really cool painting of the old taproom that was apparently painted (according to the handy plaque) during the goodbye event at the old taproom. There are games, plenty of tables, a cute little fireplace, some nooks and crannies for sitting and having a chat, some other table-filled areas for the masses and an expanded merch section. We enjoyed all of the little details, from the very fancy paddles adorning the walls to the mural in the corner. Not to be overlooked and most notably, there's a super cool water station with multiple types of water (sparkling water on tap FTW). And I will say that of the many photos I posted on my personal Facebook page, the one of the wall behind the water taps that says that 10 percent of the world's fresh water is found in Lake Superior is the one that my friends can't quite get over. Well played, Bent Paddle. Well played. There's a patio. OMG, there's a patio! With bright green chairs and tables for sitting on nice days. And even more seating to boot, which expands the capacity even more. And the beer of course remains excellent, with dare I say more varieties on tap due to the expanded bar. For THIS taproom, I am happy to entertain some change and officially move one of my very favorite happy places in all of Duluth half a block down the road. read more

Having lived in Fort Collins (Colorado) and Minneapolis, both regions brimming with breweries, I've visited and toured countless locations. Bent Paddle is one of my top three favorite breweries! In addition to excellent and unique brews on tap, the atmosphere is awesome. With a lounge area by a gorgeous fireplace, a gaming area with foosball, and nature-focused art and architecture, it feels as though they designed my ideal social environment. It's important to me that the businesses I support and recommend are committed to sustainability. Bent Paddle is an inspiring example. There is a page on their website with information about the many ways they are environmentally conscious, including signing a climate change declaration and protecting the water of Lake Superior. Check it out while you're in Duluth! For those not interested in drinking beer, there are non-alcoholic beverages available.
