Overall 3/5 for now, and will update as we go back. +1 - location - great to be close by! +1 - venue - appreciate the sick/well sides and the rooms are colorful for kiddos to look at +1 - cleanliness - everything looked very clean and not run down at all -2 - check-in and service - story time: When we were researching a place near the birth of our recent kiddo we received the recommendation of this place at least 15+ times from separate folks who certainly didn't know each other. Thinking that there must be something to it we worked to get in...that's when it started. First call was rough to get the initial appt; there was an abrasive tone on the other end asking tons of questions that felt a bit unnecessary. After we probed to understand why, we were told "well we have to be sure that you don't have kids anywhere else", well um we said i was our FIRST but whatever, looking over it. On the actual appointment day we had a similar check-in experience as one of the other reviewers I read here. Not sure if they were "hangry" or something since it was around lunch. Anyway, looking over it but now growing concerns. We get called back and in a matter of a few minutes we got him weighed and length measured, NBD, maybe things are getting better. Next, the NP comes back and is trying to talk and examine at the same time...glossing over our concerns about what appears to be an issue to dairy. These concerns were dismissed and we were told to go the full 2 weeks with dairy even in spite of our concerns. As we ask the last 5 questions the person stands with one foot out the door and back turned with little interest and providing quick answers. We were shocked. I just wanted out of there to find somewhere else immediately. When prompted for the next appt at checkout we refused and said we would not be back nor would ever see the NP again (and only the actual doctor going forward). We then were asked to walk through this with an office manager upon refusing to see the individual in question...we were asked to give it one more shot, so we shall see. Hoping it was an anomaly; we'd love to stay local and support here. Point of clarification: since we did not get the referral we hoped for we self-referred into a local GI place and have confirmed via blood in the stool that there was a dairy allergy indeed...now having to take longer to transition dairy out because we waited before we switched on poor advice. No one at the practice will probably read this...but i hope someone who needs this as a warning takes heed. What I'd say is, if your kid is generally okay and you just need to check a box for the visit then it's a great spot. If you have some issues, insist on seeing the Dr only for your visit. One may say this is dramatic...and to you I say walk in the shoes and situation or save your trolling for someone else. Maybe if it was the 5th kid and we had done this a thousand times before. But, with your first your emotions are heightened and you're still working through the scared and uncertainty phases. It definitely felt like the priority was being shoved through as a number versus a good experience for new parents. read more

I have taken my children to Blackmon Pediatrics since my oldest son (now 27 years old) was 1 year old. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Greg and Dr. Abby and their entire staff. Dr. Greg helped figured out what was going on when my son's appendix had burst and Dr. Abby was there for me when my 12 year old child was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I was fortunate to have the staff care for all three of my children. Even when we have to see a nurse practitioner they have the same care and compassion to help with any medical issues which brought us into the office. read more

As much as I love our usual nurse practitioner today we saw someone different and the mom shame she gave me was ridiculous. When I mentioned my daughter (14 months) not sleeping through the night she told me that was normal and I HAD to sleep train. Cheri, how dare you put guilt on a first time new mother for her daughter going through a sleep regression. read more

Absolute worst front desk employees. They are not helpful, extremely rude and make you feel as though your existence is an inconvenience to them. They weren't rude just once, they were rude every time we called. The Doctors and Nurse Practitioners there are fabulous, which is sad considering they're receptionists are rude because they are the people greeting you and answering your calls. read more

I have been going to Dr Greg Blackmon since I was born for my 6 month check up, and I am now 20 years old, and the thought of having to find another doctor is sad! The Blackmons are friendly, intelligent and great people. read more

In response to the other review, we frequently have issues with our questionable (at best) coverage through United Healthcare, and the financial department with this office is the most responsive medical billing staff that we have ever dealt with. They call me when issues come up, as opposed to having to track them down leaving a bunch of messages, etc., and they have even taken the time to go to bat for us when UHC was giving us trouble. I had decided to pay rather than argue, and they wanted to call for us to verify. Who does that? These folks... We haven't ever been double billed, or even over-billed. They have only tried to help us avoid bills! Aside from being absolutely more than reasonable to work with on the financial end, the office staff is superb. Excellent nursing, and Dr. Greg is a cut above. He doesn't micromanage your parenting, offers options and real-life solutions, and is just a super nice and knowledgeable physician. We couldn't recommend any other doctor or staff in any medical discipline more highly. read more

This place is a money making scam. Do not go here. We took my daughter for a well check and had Dr. Kimberly look at her toe which was ingrown. She looked at it for about three seconds and told us to keep soaking like we already were. We then received a bill for a sick visit on top of a well visit...same appt. When I questioned the double charge, I was told that's how they bill. Unbelievable lack of honesty. This is a great example of everything that is wrong with our healthcare system. This office obviously cares more about making money than helping children and their families. read more

Several people have left this practice all for very similar reasons- BEWARE My 9 month old daughter had a rash for 4+ months (that started when she began eating solids, she was exclusively breastfed and still nurses). All three doctors swore that it was eczema, even though it was just on her trunk and occasionally on her face. I thought it was yeast so I took her to a dermatologist and did a skin scratch test and it was yeast. After treating her, it started to come back so I took her back to Blackmons. Molly, the doc, got so confrontational with me and said I was ignoring all of the doctors recommendations (which was to put my 9 month old on STEROIDS! Even though the rash was not bothering her, I simply wanted to know what was causing the rash!) I suggested that we run blood work just to check her levels in case something else was going on and this was such a battle. She swore it was eczema. Eczema can look like a lot of things. Also, eczema never ONLY occurs on the stomach, it is often in skin folds or moister/heat prone areas. Said there was no way it could be yeast! Told me that yeast was not persistent! Seriously?! Yeast is very persistent and yeast meds do not always work! Anyone who has ever breastfed and had experience with thrush, knows this! So basically, I was kicked out of the office. Yes, that is right! Kicked out because I did not agree with the doctor and didn't want to put my baby on meds!!! (I had decided already that if they did not want to help my daughter or genuinely care about her, then that was my last visit with them anyway.) They didn't want to find the cause, they only wanted to cover up the problem! Two weeks later, the rash cleared on its own and is still gone, but her runny nose continues so we are going to see an allergist. There are four other moms who have left this practice for similar reasons. My nephew (3yrs old) used to go here, too, until the doctors kept telling my sister-in-law that he just had something viral (which had been going on for weeks). She had to BEG them to do blood work, which they said, came back normal. However, she took him to Children's Hospital, which referred her to a specialist who said that he had a very very severe sinus infection that needed immediate attention and said he was deficient in many vitamins!!! I also know someone whose son was congested for the first six months of his life and the docs here told her that it was just "normal" congestion every time she mentioned her concerns. She switched practices, and he actually had staph infection in his nose! One of her friends, left the practice for same reasons; they do not listen to their patients! There is a reason why people get second opinions! Cancer and other diseases go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed every day. Patients have every right to refuse treatment or disagree and these doctors are too concerned with their egos to admit that maybe, just maybe, they don't know everything. They work for us. This doctor's staff is terrible and rude. We just moved to TN from Maryland 5 months ago. Our twelve month old had her first fever of over 102 degrees and we called 8:30 am Saturday Morning.. They refused to see her and told us to go to the emergency room. They said they had too many patients. I have four kids and I have never dealt with such a terrible group of doctors.. The ER visit is now going to cost us $250 when they could have seen us. i am disgusted with this staff and doctors... stay FAR AWAY.... read more
