I think the key to this place is that they focus on rehabilitative care - they don't want to go on seeing you indefinately just so they can squeeze all the coin out of your pockets. They combine traditional physiotherapy and clinical pilates with deep tissue massage and even some acupuncture to speed the whole process up (only if you're open to it of course). It's this combination of tools employed that has been so successful for me and I can't recommend them enough!

One of my favourite receptionists, Pauline always greets me with a smile and a chat and is very efficient. Last year Greg trained up an enthusiastic young chiropractor, Adam, and he has been a great protege. These days I probably see Adam more often than Greg and he is every bit as good as his mentor. What impressed me was that he provided alternatives instead of immediately suggesting surgery, which would have required a six-week recovery. Many years later, after undergoing physiotherapy at Sportsmed, my shoulder has become much stronger, and I managed to avoid surgery altogether. This is what good doctors do; they communicate honestly and provide information rather than just directives. They are candid about recovery times and the overall outlook and implications of the various options. They also have specialisations in different areas of the body, which enhances their knowledge to share with patients. This is crucial for me, as I couldn't afford to take six weeks off from my regular training routine. I give them five stars; I am very impressed.

I was extremely frightened when I was told by the Sportsmed surgeon that I definitely needed surgery and that I would have to stay overnight at their hospital. Knowing me, all the worst case scenarios and uncertainties flooded my brain. However, after the experience, I would like to exclaim that Sportsmed SA is nothing less than my SUPERHERO. So, my overnight stay at their hospital - I cannot forget that night, even though it happened a few years ago. It was on a weeknight, so I understood that only my Dad, my eldest brother and my best friend could visit, as most of my friends had work. If you ever visit someone close in their hospital bed, you will be like a "knight in shining armour" in our eyes, because there's nothing like a loved one visiting you when you are at one of the absolute rock bottom moment/s of your life. It means a lot to the patient that you are there with them. There's really no other word to describe my experience here other than "Thank God!" I was extremely grateful for all the health professionals that constantly looked after me from start to finish. I love your surgeon who gave me my life back I love how your Anaesthetists and nurses reduced my throbbing pain significantly I love your clean hospital beds I love how professional and honest you were towards me I love how you performed the surgery perfectly I love how I was only there for one night and was ready to go home the next day I love the constant attention and care from several of your nurses I love every staff member who met me and made sure I got out perfectly okay I love how everyone was there for me, supporting me, lifting me back up when I was so down and upset And mostly, I was so grateful to be able to walk out (one x-ray, blood loss, only one surgeon consultation needed, and 24 hours later throwing up massive amounts of fluids into a bucket) with the aid of crutches, albeit on a bad limp, and go back home. My surgeon's diagnosis? I will be back playing the sports I love within 9-12 months. Which did definitely happen, with the help of their physiotherapist, I played one of the best games of my life within a few weeks of my return. God, I am so thankful for being able to walk again. Ever since that life-changing experience, I have never taken my body's functions for granted, and have treated my body with absolute care everyday. (And that's why I have nothing but high appreciation for what surgeons, nurses, physiotherapists and other health professionals do on a daily basis.)

Had my first remedial massage with Linda Fang today and she was wonderful!…read more I really like a hard massage and I asked her to go a bit harder, which she did, without being ridiculous about it. She obviously knows the body very well and could tell exactly where my tight spots were (not that I imagine that was too hard today!) and she worked them well - even down along referral pain paths which was amazing because I find a lot of therapists don't do that. I went to Linda because she was close to my work and accepts my Bupa health cover (huzzah!) and I'm so glad I did. Apparently she's been in this location for three years but I never realised! I only called up an hour before heading in as well so availability, at least this time around, was pretty good! If you love Eastern style massage and want a massage who obviously has years of knowledge and expertise behind her, I can highly recommend Linda. Plus, her prices are great! $70 for a one hour remedial massage today, of which I get a significant chunk back thanks to Bupa :) Point to note: Linda does not accept cards - make sure you have cash handy! I didn't... But she was very understanding and simply pointed me towards the closest ATM.

Finding Linda's Massage was as much an accident (literally) as it was pure luck. My feet was all swell up after a day of standing and I had Linda's name card on hand. I called to ask if she could help me with them, quoting ankles sprain as the culprit. But first visit and Linda was able to see through the pain and right into the cause. It was an incredible experience, as I have always known that a good traditional Chinese practitioner would be able to do just that and finally, after the longest time, I finally found one! Needless to say, I have been visiting her weekly for about two weeks now and things have been looking mighty good! The swelling is no longer a problem, and I can stand and run around all day without ever feeling any pain! How cool is that? Anyone who needs a great Chinese massage therapist should consider Linda immediately! And this is coming from someone who has been searching high and low for a good Chinese practitioner for ages! I chose firm, not really knowing what firm was like. Then you sit in a dimly-lit waiting room to drink water or tea if you like. Your masseuse then comes and gets you when they are ready. I booked a one hour hot stone massage, so assumed it would be just placing hot stones on your back, but no. Along with the oil you are massaged with the hot stone rocks as well, which feels amazing. The rooms are also dimly-lit, even dimmer, as you lay in darkness listening to bird and monkey sounds. I was then told to turn over so my arms and legs could be done, including my head. A towel was placed over my eyes and there was some reiki. I found it very relaxing and left me with a strange feeling of happiness. I'd love to come back and try what else is on the menu.
