He appears nice and friendly- maybe a little too casual, but i guess is abut unhinged and angry inside. A customer just wants acknowledgement, promptness and end of story- not your drama. This business owner's unprofessional, and belittling demeanor made me surprisingly uncomfortable. ------------------------------- May have been busy or stressed, but this does not mean you should ignore customers and patronize them when they make a kind request, calling them "Miss Special, or Mrs Important." Without going into details about he, he didn't even start my service, which was one quick pair of shears-I left and said I'd be back-but didn't even acknowledge me. When I came back later was chitchatting with someone with a lot of knives still did his thing and didn't acknowledge me and finally reached out to grab a piece of equipment and at this point, I knew he hadn't even done my shears and I had to leave. He angrily spouted something about "I have all this Shi! to..." First, patronizing me and then shouting epithets at me?!? He not only failed to communicate at all, but to call a spade a spade, gaslit me on an attempt to kind of "put me in my place. " I'm still flabbergasted an hour later. I recommend a lot of caution to anyone considering his services, and I hate to say this, especially a woman-- as a whole interaction was a waste of my time, but more so felt dismissive and mocking. Toxic Business Owner Perplexed about everything, I mentioned this to several teacher friends of mine, one who speculated that this man may have been racist- which is scary to me- because I've never encountered any such thing in my area.

Our old sharpener, a mobile one, recently moved so I needed to find a new and trustworthy business. After several calls, many of which were never returned, I was able to get a VERY fair same-day service quote from Atascadero Saw Shop. I admit that I had trepidations about having my babies being sharpened by a new person, let alone by a place that advertises saw sharpening as its main business. Those worries were unfounded as I now have razor-sharp blades once again. He even made my kitchen shears cut like new. Such a relief to have a new caretaker for my blades. We will be back as soon!

Perhaps your grandparents knew how to do this, but it's sadly a rare art. An apprentice would be lucky to learn from him Juan does this by hand. His prices are reasonable and he come straight to you. It's the same price no matter the knifes dullness or size. I believe it was $12.50 per knife. He does it all in his van that is especially equipped. You'll learn more about the care of your knives.
