This place is fantastic! It's a military surplus shop and they have a wide variety of basically every military type item you would ever be looking for - jackets, hats, knives, boots, patches, pins, etc. The options are endless. They also take gently used items. My husband has sold a lot of items that he used while in the military, to this store. Everyone working here is super friendly and extremely helpful. I would never return here to support and I recommend that you take your hard earned $ and spend it somewhere else, a thrift store maybe or anywhere else. My children and I have been patronizing SLO Camp n'Sack for over 10 years. Every branch of military items can be found such as, pins, patches, uniforms, clothing items, flags etc. Camping and fishing items can be found too. If what you are looking for is not available it will be ordered. The inventory of military, fishing and camping items is huge and great. Our go to gal is Randy. Her personality is wonderful, and her knowledge is extraordinary. I went in there to buy a couple of knives I saw they stocked and had on sale on their website.The kid behind the counter helping me showed me one and quoted me a price that was not what was advertised online.I asked about it and was told the website is old and never updated even though I could have made the purchase on there and picked it up in store. He also told me he had nothing to do with pricing and it was up to "Randi". I asked him if he could ask Randi about it, he just sat there looking at me Like I was an idiot.I asked if he was going to ask her again and he said he had nothing to with the prices again. I wound up walking out at that point. I would have prefered to support a local brick and mortar business but the internet and no sales tax is going to win out over this very poor experience. read more

I'm a historical reenactor attending Cal Poly, so this surplus store was definitely a place that I wanted to visit when I came by. Selection-wise, it's pretty average with your usual stocks of surplus army ACUs (that nobody wants to buy- for good reason too) and assorted BDUs in various sizes. If you're looking for European and Asian camouflage uniforms, you're pretty much SOL. My friend bought a pair of German flecktarn pants but the store didn't have the matching field shirt or even a smock. We were told that they get their stock basically by random from whoever they can pick stuff up from so it's understandable. My local surplus store in Campbell, CA almost always had a good stock of foreign uniforms so perhaps I've been a bit spoiled. The store also stocks a decent amount of Condor pouches and whatnot for your airsoft needs. Though not the best in quality, Condor stuff is cheap and gets the job done for the most part. However, SLO Camp and Pack did have some interesting pouches and assorted goodies for some good prices. I found some Tactical Tailor and SDS pouches in a bin there, and was very tempted to pick them up. They also had some M1 helmets for $40, which was a better deal than I got mine for up north. On the other hand, their flight suits and crewman coveralls were way overpriced at around $50-60, where as I was able to get mine for $35-40. So it really depends on what you're looking for. If you're in town, SLO camp and pack is definitely a place worth visiting. Staff is friendly and you might find some goodies. read more

I've been here countless times, and as a former Soldier can vouch for the authenticity of the gear here. The staff are super nice and always willing to help, but are also totally fine to leave you alone if you want. From clothes, to ammo cans, sleeping systems, to window stickers they have just about everything. The quality and selection of gear, 5.11 Tactical, duffles, rifle bags, molle gear, and nomex items is great. It's almost like all of your TA-50 needs are in one spot! Even if you don't need something it's worth just coming in for a look around as I always find something I want. read more

They have a wide selection of USGI/US-Style and foreign military surplus, both vintage and current -as well as an impressive inventory of high quality backpacking and camping supplies (as the name indicates)! They also have a crucial selection of straps, webbing, buckles, clips, etc for DIY gear projects and equipment repair. Their staff is super friendly and won't lead you astray in finding what you want/need. I had a great time shopping there and look forward to going back soon! I took in 3 Benchmade knives for the life sharp. I only got back 2 of my knives. I am now out a $200+ knife because they lost it. I was wondering what was going on when they took my knives from me and threw them to the side and didn't even write anything down about them. I was shocked when I got the two back. I really like to support local businesses but I will not return to this place. They didn't even try and reconcile their mistake because I couldn't supply the model number of the third knife. read more

I visited this store several months while visiting the area. The staff was rude and watched every move you made while in their store. Customer service -Fail. SLO Camp and Pack was the only Army Surplus store I could find in the area. They had exactly what I was searching (needed). I'm going camping and when packing the zipper on my duffle bag broke. Once I arrived I asked the store clerk what they had. She walked me over and they had three sizes in two colors. I picked the largest (21x50) and paid $37. Good quality product for a fair price. One star down grade for store size. It's the smallest Surplus store I have been to. I would shop here again. read more

Dropped off my knife to be sharpened on the 18th of January and was told it would take 12 days to get back to me. It ended up taking 40 days to get back to me and the woman working there gave me an attitude the two times I dropped by to see what the hold up was. She also gave a woman from the Navy who was buying a few bumper stickers an attitude, but was more than friendly with a man who was buying a $180.00 knife. I recently bought my US military uniform here blouse and trousers. I was sold the wrong trousers washed them six times and they faded at a different rate then the blousee. I was told that it was a brand new uniform when I bought it. I don't think they were new due to the fact that the trousers faded at such a fast rate when I only washed them about six times it looks like a totally different set I took them to back and they ordered me the right pair of trousers because they had given me the wrong brand (they said) so when I came to pick them up and exchange them for the correct pair they proceeded to charge me for the new pair of trousersres instead of an even Exchange them knowing that it was their mistake and I paid the full price for the wrong pair of trousers on their bad. The Woman I'm pretty sure she might be the owner who was helping me was extremely rude and went on to tell me it's my fault and she doesn't even know if I bought them there when I've bought multiple things there over the years I've supported their Business by coming back to them time after time I won't be any more.
