This review is more for those new people looking for a professional barbershop with excellent barbers. My barber Felix is a master and one of the kindest people you can imagine. His skills are serious and consistently goes above a beyond to give you that perfect cut, every time. Now everyone knows the game, you are a newbie and expect the best barbers to accommodate you, they have their clientele already. One thing if Felix is not busy, which is rare, he will take care of any walk-ins. Keep in mind he is ALWAYS busy, but he will fit you in, if he can. Miguel is excellent as well, but the same applies. I have went to countless barbers, I went to one who was so bad that I had to shave off of my head but Blades Barbershop is just on another level, especially Benny. Benny's fade skills has to be one of the best in the country, no question. Not only, but he is also exceptional working with scissors. So, I am an African American woman with 4c natural hair. I live in Elmhurst where I can go weeks without seeing another Black woman let alone a salon that caters to my hair type. So imagine what I look like after four months of having no time to get to my Brooklyn barber for hair care. Shameful! I looked a hot mess. Hair was a washed, un-moisturizer, overgrown, shapeless short fro. I called Blades and said I'm a Black woman, short hair, never been there before, and desperately need a haircut. Blades said come on in for your appointment and ask for Mokz. Omg. Mokz gave me back my hair dignity. He was laid back, ask the right questions for someone who's not versed in the barber shop lingo, and yet understood what I wanted. Such attention to detail, I was super impressed. I knew that I wasn't going to leave that chair with a haircut I didn't like. And I loved the haircut. So, highly recommend this barbershop. It's very male-oriented like most barbershops but I didn't feel un-welcomed or uncomfortable at all (all the barbers were speaking primarily in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish so I have no idea what they were talking about). No one greeted me when I arrived. Extremely loud music, I sat there for an hour and no one acknowledge me or even asked if I needed help. After sitting for an hour waiting to get a quick cut, two guys came in the shop, got acknowledged right away and immediately took a seat. Unprofessional. I would not recommend this place. read more

I moved to Queens for work about 4 months ago and it's been a struggle finding a decent shop. I'm Korean, but I like shape ups and keeping a clean choppy cut on top. Most Korean barber shops don't listen to a word you say and charge way too much. Most black barber shops do a great job with fades and shape ups, but don't know what the hell to do when it comes to the top of my head. I came here on the co-sign of a friend, took a little bit due to the fact it's in Elmhurst but I came out doing the Usain Bolt after I got my cut. They listened to me and executed to perfection. Only reason why it isn't 5 stars is due the fact they could be a little more hospitable. But as far as the cut goes, I'm more than satisfied. read more

A neighborhood gem, I've been going to Blades Barbershop for over 15 years. Hands down one of, if not the best barbershop in the Corona-Elmhurst area. They have elite barbers who mostly require appointments as they have a high clientele retention rate. Walk-ins are welcome but it may be a 20-minute wait or so before there is an available barber. The work of the barbers is masterful. From regular fades, caesars to designs and beard shaves, they do it all. The prices are reasonable for the great work they do. I always recommend Blades to friends and family and new neighbors looking for a barbershop. To this day, I have not received a complaint about it. Just got back from Blades. Nice place. Clean. Didn't get to know my Barber or the rest of the staff, everybody kinda kept to themselves, but will probably come with time. The important part is that the haircut is on point and my Barber took his time and followed instruction to the letter. Glanced over at the other Barber, he obviously has skills too so you're in good hands with the Blades crew. After checking out a few different places I think I might've found the right spot. I made it 30 mins before closing and the barber Moka had two cuts before me to finish but worked me in even though he had to stay significantly past closing. Walked in for the first time waiting to see who would give me a cut, had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by Jay, After not having a barber and taking it into my own hands to trim my hair (which I ruined) i let my hair grow for about a month, and he gave me one of the best cuts I ever had, even reccomend changes to line up the front , being a women and never have lined up the front, only the sides, I went for it, looked GREAT ! I honestly don't know where these good reviews are coming from.The first time I went there, they put me with a guy in the back, I knew he was new and he did not cut my hair correctly,even though I still gave them a fair shot,my second time was with a guy named Frank, he does not speak english and I had to tell the other barber the way I wanted which was a low faux hawk.But my hair didn't look anything like a low faux hawk, he left it too long on top and my hair is uneven.Therefore, I will not be coming back anymore. read more
