Came here to stand in line for baby chicks. Staff was helpful to keep us updated as the baby chicks never made it to the post office. I only need to replace a few chicks that have died over the years but standing in line for hours, I refuse to do again. There is lots of parking and they also offer store pickup from online orders. The store is well lit and well stocked. There are sales and they have a large selection of everything you didn't think you needed. Patrons were mostly rude and maybe it's just me but Bourbonnais is obviously not my kind of town. read more

I can literally spend the entire day walking thru all the isles looking for unique items such as farming equipment's to items fixing my car. Almost a one stop shop for all my needs. Keep in mind this is not a grocery store but I can get some foods such as snacks and soda (basic necessities). I usually come to Blains for gardening supplies like fertilizers and soil for a reasonable cost compared to big box stores like Home depot. Plenty of parking and customer service is knowledgeable if asked. read more

I had not been to this store for quite a few years. Last Monday, I went down there to pick up some work tube socks. Blains used to carry their house brand, Work and Sport, but now only carry overpriced Carhardt brand socks, which is a good brand, but at a cost of 14 dollars for 3 pairs. The old line of socks, you got 6 pairs per bag, at a good price point. Now I understand things change, but the prices at this store have risen quite markedly since I was there last. Yes, everything has gone up, I get that, but big chain stores like Blains, should be able to get better deals from their suppliers. Unhappy, unhelpful and lacking communication skills employees.... Ask where something is located.... I don't know and no offer to assist in finding is the norm. Pick up assistance in the yard after spending several hundred dollars progresses at the speed of smell. Employees... well besides providing me a laugh over any sort of dress code... they are the ones wandering around in groups avoiding anything that resembles WORK. I would say Customer Service but this store forgot that term long ago. If you have time... willing to wander to find what your after and stop in mid day when thier not busy... there are several decent restaurants to get dinner at after a reasonable drive... If you live out of state and need camo gear, go else where. You pay 50 dollars and find out their clothes run small and then have to pay 16.25 to send it back. We purchased a new lawn mower from Menard's. I couldn't start the mower & Menard's wouldn't take it back because there was gas & oil in it. How do you try the mower without gas & oil? If I could give a negative review I would. My daughter took her car in to have the brakes checks, they had to special-order the parts so they told her she they would call her when they had them in. I told her I would do the brakes, thank God. This is the condition the brakes were in when I took the wheel off. No pads in the brakes at all, caliper not even screwed in tightly. Online inventory said they had a2 84" rototillers in stock so I placed my order, after an hour I decided to call to see if I could get an approximate time when it would be ready, they said they'd have the guy call me back, and about 20min later I was told that there weren't any in stock. I was told that the day before they were looking for it but couldn't find one. You think they'd adjust inventory. Wonder how you misplace something that big. read more

I purchased a disbudding iron and it was supposed to be delivered on a Friday. Friday came and went without a notice from them that it was delayed. After calling them a few times, it finally shipped out and I received it the following week. But when I opened the box, I immediately feared the iron was a return. It didn't look to be in the original packaging. The cord was wrapped in a plain rubber band and the iron was chipped and had scuffs. When disbudding day came, we plugged up the iron and got zero heat. We tried a few different outlets but still nothing. They obviously accepted a defective return and then shipped it back out. It is a shame to waste a customer's time by shipping out a defective return. I called and they sent a return shipping label. I wrapped the iron in white paper with a note that the iron does not heat and should not be sent out to another customer. Hopefully it helps someone else avoid what I had to deal with. After this experience, I will not be buying from Blains again. read more

I had a flat tire on my roto tiller so wheel and tire went with me. Young man named DeAngelo checked to make sure they had the tube and said give him about an hour as they can be tricky. I did some shopping down the street and 30 minutes later DeAngelo calls and says all set. I go in and pay for my tire and when I get to my car it won't start. Back to DeAngelo to buy a battery, he says let's check it first and try to jump it. Tester says only 23 CCA new battery has over 700 CCA. The jump did nothing so back inside to buy a new one installed and tested by DeAngelo. Great service by an outstanding young man. read more

Blain's Farm and Fleet in Loves Park IL will never touch my car again! Several years ago I bought tires from them and asked to have the front end aligned. They told me that I needed to have my ball joints replaced before they could do the requested work. I went to my mechanic and he said the ball joints are fine. Then I went to an alignment specialist who concurred. I called Blain's and they had the nerve to ask me to bring my car back so they could have their expert look at it ... even after I told them I already had two experts look at it. That was the first straw. A couple of years ago I had them install a trailer hitch on my car. I used it a couple of times and the lights stopped working.Having totally lost faith in Blain's work I had a trailer specialist in Pecatonica look at it and they said in needed to be completely re-wired. That was the final straw. read more

This place is terrible since the renovation. It seems that the entirety of the store features clothing with minimal attention to what previously made Farm & Fleet a useful marketplace for implement and tool needs. The single entrance/exit ushers an abysmal parking situation. The duration of a quick shopping experience is compounded by the fact that anything useful on the sales floor is scattered and that the employees are generally unfamiliar with the contents of their inventory. The updated layout is akin to the layout of their other stores, but this is an unwelcome change. Therefor, I prefer to avoid this place unless I absolutely cannot find what I need anywhere else locally. read more

No gentleman farmers here... I went into this place mid-afternoon last Monday to purchase some mulch. As expected the price was really really low for what I wanted - cedar mulch only. Several other items were on my to-do list and I wandered around filling up my shopping cart accordingly. Each time I asked for help the very young female staff had to ask someone else - they were in training and it was not their fault. But it was still a time-waster for me. At the register I was told to leave the one cart inside and go pick up the mulch outside. No one was attending the outside and therefore I had to make some semi-educated guesses as to what to purchase. Outside I loaded 10 bags into the shopping cart myself, and carefully navigated the cart to the other side of the building to enter and then back down to the cash register to pay. The young cashier was quite nice and asked if I needed help getting it to the car. Normally I would say no -- but I was just diagnozed with a hernia and told her that circumstance. She called twice for assistance from one particular person to no avail. There were several others lurking in the front of the store who could have given a hand, but didn't. Worse, I pulled the car up outside the exit door and began loading the ten bags myself. Struggling, a male customer passed by and said "those bags are slippery" laughed an dkept walking. Then another middle aged man in a pink shirt pretended as though I was invisible. He immediately turned to the right to avoid eye contact and evidently to assuage his non-guilt. Two elderly women looked at me in horror "this was MY fault" I wondered silently. It seems these Good Old Boys in the sticks haven't any manners and deserve their reputation. I doubt I will be going to Farm and Fleet again. It is advertised as friendly and helpful but none of that was apparent to me. read more

Farm and Fleet, on Route 50 in Bradley IL, just north of the Bradley exit from I-57, is the closest Farm and Fleet to Chicago, I believe. Why care? Because this is where you get solid, durable clothes cheap. This is where the farmers and construction workers shop. Flannel shirts, heavy duty coats, industrial strength blue jeans, real work boots, insulated everything. They have the brands for this serious stuff too - Columbia Sportswear, Carhartt, Levi's, Lee, Arctic Quest, Milwaukee Motorcycle. They've got lots of other stuff - like feed for your horses and weed killer for your driveway. And, typically, lots of Illini outerwear. (They're close to halfway on the drive from Chicago to Urbana, with a dozen fast food restaurants nearby.) read more

Brought my lawnmower to be fixed. I took the cover off the engine before bringing it in. They told me it was in pieces and they don't work on lawnmowers that are in pieces. I asked them if I can put it together so that they can work on it and they told me no. They told me it would cost me more to put the cover on then the lawnmower is worth that I bought two years ago. Went here over the weekend (Covid 19) to order parts for lawnmower. No one was behind counter at parts department - was told to go around the corner and ask employees over there for help. Standing there was two female employees and a male manager ("Mike") taking with each other. My friend went up and asked if we could get some help in the lawnmower parts dept and the manager gave us terrible attitude. He told us someone should be over there and to go back. We told him we were sent over to him only for him to roll his eyes and make some grunting noise. We went back and he came up behind us and starting making more grunting noise as other customers showed up. He stopped what he was doing only to ask what each of wanted or why we were there with a terrible tone. Everyone in line were obviously taken aback by his attitude and couldn't believe that he had asked us why we were there with such a tone and the sound affects. He had no idea how to log onto the computer and asked another employee to come and take care of us while he took off. This employee literally sat at computer trying to find a part number for 35 minutes. He should have just told us he couldn't find it and taken our number and got back to us. On top of it the customer service by the "mature" check out women is awful. I did hear a younger gal with really great customer service that was working the floor. Did not get her name but kudos to her A SHE should be the manager and not "Mike" with the attitude. Completely unprofessional. Will not be returning to this store as this is the third time with bad customer service. Too bad - store has some good items. read more

If possible I would have given them 0 stars. Every time I call I get transferred all over the store since the department I'm trying to reach never answers the phone. After 30 minutes of being transferred and put on hold I eventually hang up. This is not a 1 time experience, it is a chronic hassle. I will not take my business there again since they waste my time. The Kankakee Blains Farm and Fleet store is a great place to shop.They have a great selection of housewares, clothes for the whole family,sporting goods and tools, They have welders,paint,automotive parts and feed for cows,chickens and other farm animals.But wait, there's more!! They a great selection of snacks and other food items.Lots of yard care products. They also have a great selection or outdoor power products. They are one of a very few stores who still repair small engine equipment in house, even Sears has closed almost all their repair centers. Blains Farm and Fleet can even order parts for a variety of equipment and It's cheeper then other places.The repair service is great as they check out the whole unit, not just a quick fix send you on your way type place. Where else can you get tires on your car, buy a bicycle, get a shovel, buy some horse feed,get some footwear and buy some snacks? NOWHERE!! Went to the automotive shop to order a trailer hitch. The first staff member did not know how to use the computer to check on the part. The second staff member couldn't locate the part and called the store manager, but he said that she would probably not know how to find it either. He tried again, and called in a third staff member who had no idea how to find it either. I tried to look it up, but I had no signal in the store due to it being a concrete building. I asked this guy if someone may be able to help me on Monday, he said "probably not". Meanwhile, the first staff member was worried about how his lint brush had failed, due to the "lint" on his shirt. When I realized we were in the middle of a Three Stooges episode, I gave up and left. Will not be back. read more

As for the store itself, well for the most part it is a nightmare looking for stuff, and prices are too high, you are better off going to Walmart at least their prices are cheaper. The lines are ALWAYS to long and they never open any new registers to accommodate the overflow of the crowd. WhIle in their automotive shop their manager is the worst, rude just like the store manager. This place is a joke, as is their Store Manager Jim. Do not go in thinking you'll receive a respectful interaction with the store manager, or their shop manager. We received excellent service as they worked us in. We dropped off my vehicle for tires and had it back within 24 hours. At the time, only one technician was working due to all others out sick. The staff all had their masks on, as we did as well. They gave us every discount available, which saved us nearly $200. Very friendly and helpful service. I highly recommend. read more

I just left a terrible experience at this location. I attempted to purchase a ladder that was displayed for sale at $79 however the cashier advised me it was $139. I went back and took a picture and she compared the SKU and advised they were different items. While I know sometimes merchandise gets placed in the wrong place by customers there were multiple identical ladders displayed in the space with the sale markings. The cashier was very nice and called a manager. I spoke to an individual who stated she was one of the managers and had a name tags that said "Manager Trainee Patty". She advised me the item for sale was in the warehouse and had someone bring a sale item up, which had lesser features than the ladder displayed. I inquired why multiple ladders were displayed for sale while the sale item was in the warehouse rather than on display. I complained that the display was very misleading because of the obvious differences in the product. Patty response fed by just stating "this is the one on sale". I did not make the purchase. Aside from the $60 differential from the item on display to the price displayed, I found the manner that Patty dismissed my complaint as being ridiculous and unprofessional. She never raised her voice, nor was she outright rude. She just displayed a demeanor of "tough luck, either but it or don't". For a management trainee it was pathetic. read more

Service at this store is often lacking. I went in to buy an item, nothing was on the shelf. I ask someone about it, they say they don't have any, but you have to push them on the topic of finding out when more will be in stock. Today's experience was the real topper. Sunday afternoon, no one in the paint department. They have brochures on Cabot interior wood stain showing it comes in custom colors. I wanted to know if I could get it in a quart, half pint, etc. Went to customer service, the lady had to call for someone. Went back to the paint counter, after waiting several more minutes, an old white haired guy from 15 feet away hollers "what do you need?". I tell him what I want, interior stain, custom color in a quart. "We don't sell quarts, just gallons". I told him they sell quarts. I told him to turn around and look behind him. "That's interior". I said that's what I said I want. I again asked can he make a custom color. "No, there aren't custom colors for interior". I told him that's not what the Cabot brochure says. "Where'd you get the brochure?" Right here on the shelf behind you. "We can't do that..." This guy must have retired from the circus and came to work here. He was testy, unfriendly and borderline annoying with his attitude. Will I be buying any paint from this store? Nope. Went over to Lowe's afterwards where they are friendly and capable of serving customers. No more Brain's Farm & Fleet for me; I won't spend money where there's bad service. read more

Literally the worst service in the battery dept. my battery was 15 mos old didn't hold a charge and they wouldn't replace it. They charged for 2 hours, then said let's try another 3 hours. No one has time to wait 5 hours and then drive 60 miles to come back the next day!!! Ridiculous service and a FAKE warranty on top of it.
