By 1872 it had expanded to its present size of forty eight acres. I stopped by here this morning to visit the gravesites of my father's side of the family. I had the opportunity to inspect each one to ensure that all's in order. Some of my relatives have been passed a long time ago. Many have been deceased before my time and I never knew them. It was nice to visit my parents and twin brothers place of interment. So many fond memories! This entire cemetery is maintained by the City of Gaffney, S.C. and they are doing a great job!

I didn't see that many at all. This place is located in a quiet country section of Cherokee County, S.C. Additionally, I didn't see any older graves; mostly newer ones.

This is the final resting place for the founder of Gaffney, S.C. Michael Gaffney and his immediate…read morefamily. This is a lovely spot to remember the man who started this city. A lot of the inscriptions on the headstones are badly worn and difficult to read. There's a couple of benches on site to relax on and contemplate things. Not many people visit here but occasionally a few do. Michael Gaffney was born in Ireland in 1775 and died here September 6, 1854. He was 78 years old at the time of his demise.

I purchased some stone memorials in their remembrance from this business. I found the owner to be a kind and compassionate person willing to listen me. He had a well diversified selection to choose from. Just completely beautiful pieces ( if there is such a thing like this) inscribed to my directions. It was nice to do business with someone who was patient and not just after a quick sale. In your time of need; I recommend this place.

It's somewhat of a rarity around here. A Confederate solider who survived the war and came home to continue his life. At various cemeteries I've seen a lot of Confederate soldiers killed in action! A surprisingly large number in fact. This final resting place is in immaculate condition and is a nice tribute to those whose final resting place is here.

As a child I was absolutely terrified of cemeteries and death. As an adult it's just an inescapable fact of life and reality. I saw some interesting places of internment and took some pictures.

This is a place of honor for many reasons. On my visit today as I was looking for the burial site…read moreof a distant relative I couldn't help but read other headstones. I saw WW2 people killed in action. I saw many graves of folks deceased from one hundred fifty years and more. I saw the graves of newborns.This place deserves the respect I gave them. Cautious where I step in particular. I finally found the gravesite of my relative and took a picture of the headstone.
