I've been ordering custom edible images from this store for several years. The product was great and the customer service top notch. In the instance that my image might not have desired resolution, I've always got a phone call to let me know ahead of time. When my image was ready for pickup, I got notified by call or email. My last two encounters however were not up to par at all. Last week I've ordered an image and never received any kind of notification that's it ready to be picked up. When I called to ask when will be order be ready, I was told that's it is ready. This week I've ordered another image. My requested size was 5x7. Knowing that I will not be alerted about pickup I went to the store. My image was indeed ready, however the size was 3x4. I asked why they didn't print 5x7, the associate went to the back and than told me that that's an image I sent them. In case like this I would at least expect a call notifying me to change my image dimensions if they are not able to do it themselves. But unfortunately I am left with an image smaller than a postcard. read more

My aunt, cousin and I were really excited to go to this store after talking about it for a few weeks. Upon walking in we noticed some really cute cookies that were displayed on a spinning rack. We had no clue they weren't for sale as there was no sign stating that. I asked the lady at the register how much they were, she answered me in such a rude way making me feel dumb for not knowing they weren't for sale. She then goes to say their samples from a decorative class. We then go to say "oh cool you have classes here, how much?" She states the price which was reasonable but her tone was so condescending, anything that was asked to her seemed like a bother. No thank you, definitely wouldn't want to pay money to sit with someone who can't even make someone feel comfortable in the store. Her customer service was 1000% AWFUL! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone just because of that. They had such cute things in there, too bad the ladies vibe can just ruin someone's mood to shop. read more

Pleased to find out that Blake's Decorette Shop is placing orders online or over the phone for curbside pickup. Super easy to do. So if you're baking these days... cookie cutters, chocolate chips, decent pans and of course cake supplies, this is the place to go. As other reviewers have mentioned, the layout of this mall is a bit unusual. There's an upper level closer to Hall, and then down the hill there are more shops where Blake's is. Every year my grandma and I make candies at Christmas. This had always been our go to spot for chocolates, molds, sugars, and flavors. The staff is always helpful and friendly. They also have a great selection of wrappers for candies and cupcakes for all occasions. The reason for my most recent visit was to take a cupcake decorating class with some girl friends. I learned some great decorating techniques and took home some adorable cupcakes! The things I learned are easy enough to do at home with basic decorating tools and any supplies I would need I could just pick up there. They have a fun class on how to decorate holiday cookies (as well as other baking classes, too), which was $40/person, and included 12 already-made cookies with 3 hours of instruction. Blake's is a very mainstream kind of place. It's a lot like one you'd expect to find in the middle of a small midwestern town, but that's okay, as long as you know what to expect. Nonetheless, the service was friendly. Tip: The place is hard to find if you're not used to the area. While their prices might seem high to the average person, on many items they are significantly cheaper than JoAnn's - which is right around the corner. When I visit my sister in Portland, a trip to The Decorette Shop is definitely a priority for Miss Mira. A big plus is that there is no sales tax in Oregon so I stock up on my cupcake supplies. I've never been treated worse by a business than when I went to this shop. While I had a short experience, I was treated so poorly during my first visit that I will never be back and would never recommend them to anyone. I'd been calling all over town earlier in the day to see if there was a local cake shop that carried a specific cake decorating item, and when Blake's said they had it in stock I was so excited to go right after work and purchase it. Their website said they close at 5:29pm, and since I work in NE Portland, I left work a little bit early to make sure I'd get there on time. I arrived at 5:25pm and one of the employees was already locking the front doors, visibly rolling her eyes as she saw me get out of my car. She unlocked the door for me and said, "we close in three minutes." I told her I knew exactly what I wanted and I even called earlier to make sure they had it in stock. When I told her what I needed, she scoffed and said, "that will take forever." At this point another employee went to the back to get the item. This process took about five minutes and I'm not sure why it took so long to grab one item as it wasn't particularly special. While she was back there, I looked around the store. Leaving this low-scoring review is such a shame to me because it was seriously the most well-stocked cake decorating shop I've ever been in, and I've been making cakes for several years and have been to many shops in Portland. I would have purchased some other items I saw in the shop while I was waiting for my item, but since I was already being treated so poorly I decided toWi only purchase what I came for. They could have had a sale that was triple what I came for if they would have treated me like I was a valuable customer - or even just like I mattered as a human being. After checking out, I headed to my car and got inside only to look up and catch the three employees behind the counter appearing to be laughing at me and mocking me. This place is a cake maker's absolute dream. They have more cake/cupcake/cake pop/sucker-making supplies than anywhere I've ever seen. Does your kiddo want a [insert popular cartoon of the month/Disney Movie/anything kids seem to have ever liked in history here] themed-party? I can almost guarantee you that Decorette will have what you need. Shaped cake pans, flavorings, all different sized cake pans and display items, cake/cupcake transporting items, fondant, ready-to-use fruit fillings, cupcake toppers, cupcake wrappers, cookie cutters, cake toppers, candy making molds, chocolate pieces for the candy making.........need I say more? Bins and bins of themed supplies. The ladies who work here know their stuff. I wandered in with a co-worker with a very specific party theme for a child's birthday, and the staff helped her piece together every single thing she needed. That kiddo is going to be one happy birthday girl! And me? I walked out with some Mickey Mouse sprinkles/cookie cutters for stocking stuffers, and a bunch of Twilight-themed cupcake toppers for myself. Do I need these items?! No. But I couldn't help it! You would not ever imagine that such a cool shop was located in this dreary strip mall. I took a cookie decorating class from Bambi and it was hugely disappointing . The teaching 'style' was brusque and unhelpful. We paid $65.00 and decorated 6 cookies in three hours. The room was cramped and we had to share the supplies. This resulted in waiting for frosting nearly half the time. The class was a $25.00 value at most. One of my favorite places to visit! I don't wanna brag but I get a lot of requests for my cupcakes. I buy all the elements i need to make the perfect little cupcake from here! They have boxes to carry them in, the largest selection of wrappers and toppers I have ever seen plus they make there own ready to use buttercream. There are other Decorette shops in the area but I visit this one because they have great customer service and the best selection. I also love the candy molds! There prices are higher than what you will find in the grocery store baking isle (duh) but very reasonable for the product you are getting. The Decorette Shop is a modest place which I completely love. Being allergic to wheat, dairy and not too great with any grains, I make all the birthday and other cakes for our family using almond flour. For the decorations, I use cool little items I buy at the Decorette Shop. LIttle lady bugs, people, animals, palm trees, you name it. Poking around in the decoration bins is really fun. Stopped in to Decorette shop this morning at 10:05 no one at register. So checked out every isle on 1st floor, went to second floor checked every isle and heard voices in back. Stood on steps to third floor in hopes I could ask questions. Maybe 2 employees in office ,didn't hear third voice . clerk comes to door of office still talking non stop, comes out ,maybe 8 ft from me ,says to whoever ,well I'll leave you now and let you work, steps out door glances at item to left of door then goes back in and discusses an order .I'm right there! not invisible.. waiting to get a word in edgewise... Made my first trip to Blake's today. Pretty nice selection, not nice service. After telling me they didn't have the thing that I came for, I decided to keep browsing for a minute. As I searched another employee came out from the back, saw me clearly hunting for something, and instead of offering to help, she walked right by me as if I weren't there.
