Sherm, Brett, and Rob make an awesome team, I've been going to Rob for many years, and his consistency, quality, and cleanliness have always been top-tier. The shop itself looks incredible. The interior is modern, spacious, and super clean, with plenty of comfortable seating if you're waiting. They've decorated the walls with historic Bay Area sports newspapers, jerseys, and memorable artwork, giving the space a unique personality that feels both fresh and nostalgic. There's a TV up front so you can catch a game or just relax while getting your haircut, and the lighting and setup make the whole place feel open and welcoming. My husband and I wanted to get our son's first haircut before his 2nd birthday. As a mom, I was so nervous and anxious to see how he would do sitting and having someone cut or even buzz his hair, for he is always constantly moving. My husband suggested going to his old barber who had recently started at Blank Canvas, Rob. I didn't know how it would be to go to an actual barbershop vs one of those kids hair cut places at the mall... I WAS SO HAPPILY SURPRISED!!! Firstly, the shop is so clean and modern looking. Because they knew we were coming in with a kid, they already had a TV set up with Bluey (one of his faves!!) and was greeting by all three guys there. Rob is so kind and was willing to work with us to find the best way to get our son ready for his haircut. We discussed the plan and off he went! Mom and Dad did have to switch places holding our son in the chair, but Rob and his fellow barber--Brett--helped calm our son by providing him with various snacks, were playing with him. Rob made sure to take breaks if our son was getting a little overwhelmed. Rob was able to make some suggestions to us as the haircut went on and you could tell he really knew what he was doing. I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience with my son. I am sooooo in love with his haircut and Blank Canvas is definitely going to be our spot to bring him. The experience at Blank Canvas Barbershop was honestly perfect. The shop has a premium feel , super clean, high-class vibe, and they even offer drinks and snacks which is a nice touch. You can even shop Sherm's clothing brand while watching sports on the big TV they've got going, which makes the whole experience even better. I've been going to Sherm for years now and he's always consistent. I don't really trust many barbers, but with him I never worry. Called several shops around 5:30pm on a FRIDAY--every single one turned me down because I "need to set an appointment." Look, I work late hours, and sometimes my only free time is late afternoon. TailorMade barbershop is THE best place I have been to since I moved to San Francisco from Florida in 2015. It's extremely hard to find consistent barbers that fade so well and whose price is affordable! both Sherman & Brett are absolutely incredible! Super professional, super chill, and accommodates his clients past most hours when barbers close, which I really appreciate since I'm busy for most of the day. I'm pretty picky about the small details and he worked with me through the stages of shaping my hairstyle for what works for me. He always hits the mark with what I'm looking for - and I've had a lot of haircut changes over the years. He knows how to adjust any cut based on your head shape, your lifestyle, and your hair type. All around fantastic barber: detail-focused, consistent, and quality cuts. I wasn't able to schedule my recent cut with Sherm because he was out of town, so I ended up scheduling with Brett. I was a little unsure how it would turn out because I'd been so used to getting cut by Sherm, but Brett knocked it out of the park. He took his time to truly understand what I was looking for, and his two decades of experience cutting hair really showed when working. He checked in constantly just to make sure he got it right as I was a new client - but I could tell that once he understood how I preferred my hair, he could replicate it in half the time. It's unlikely that barbershops are open on a Monday according to my barber Pete. This is a appointment only barbershop and is rare when there's a open spot. If you call and no one picks up, most likely these barbers are in the middle on a cut session, try a second time. From experience I have a "go-to" barber back home in Turlock, CA but now residing in San Francisco, finding a NEW barber can be stressful, I'd recommend Pete, he's a cool dude, and understood what cut I wanted and the aftermath it was better than I anticipated! Since covid hit my hair has grown so much that people started to think I was a woman when they look at me from the back. I finally got a cut and the barber I went to messed me up I thought about buying clippers but that was just to risky because after all I am no barber. He has been a real life saver I'm mean that literally, he has made sure to follow all safety procedures to ensure that his establishment is 100% covid safe. This reason alone was good enough for me. With so many great Barbershops to choose from I still find it hard for me to find a barber. One reason is that I HATE MAKING APPOINTMENTS! Saturday afternoon usually every barber shop has chairs filled and barbers booked for the day. I was looking to get my son a haircut and as I was driving around looking for a barbershop, after many failed attempts at places like Super Cuts and other old lady one style of cutting places (You know what I'm talking about) I refused to take him to a place like that, I asked my wife to see if Yelp can help us find a barbershop. After making several calls and getting rejected she called Tailormade and they were able to take my son in. Walking in the vibes were good, everyone was very welcoming. My Son got to see barber Jay, after explaining what type of cut he wanted Jay did his thing and the cut, well the cut came out way beyond our expectations. I was happy but more importantly my son was HELLA happy. You know those videos of the guy who walks in the barbershop looking scruffy and with no self-esteem and after the cut he is the man, well yeah that was my son, he 2 step off that chair.
