I had lost faith in finding a good consistent barber until I was introduced to Tubz. A couple of my good friends had been getting cut by him and after seeing their clean haircuts, I had to try him. I was able to set up an appointment with him about a year ago and I have been going back to him on a weekly basis ever since! The Shop: Tubz started cutting at Tailormade Barbershop a couple months ago.The shop has a very chill vibe. All the barbers seem very friendly and professional. They have four big flat screen TVs, so regardless of where you sit in the shop, you will have some entertainment. Plenty of seating and clean. They do accept walk-ins, but all the barbers are pretty good, so therefore they are booked most the time. I would recommend setting up an appointment. Parking: The majority of parking is 1-hour meter. However, if you turn the corner there are some all day spots and I rarely have trouble finding one. Tubz: This man is an artist and can do it all. Tapers, Fades, Designs, Combovers, Lineups, etc. You name it, he can do it. His attention to detail is is insane! The one thing I love about Tubz is he makes sure his clients get the haircut they are looking for exactly to your liking. I usually get a 1.5 on top, with a bald taper and get my beard cleaned up. I am very picky with my beard, but every time Tubz got me walking out the shop feeling myself! His beard game is . I've been going to Chad for years now. He's an artist at what he does and I never leave disappointed with my cut. It helps that he's a bit of a perfectionist and won't even let you leave if there's a single strand of stray hair that catches his eye. It's gotten to a point where he remembers what kind of cut I get, and the only thing he asks is; "how much off the top today?". He's also a great dude to talk to, with some interesting stories from his past life. I've also gotten cuts from Sherm when Chad's out of town, and he's a total boss as well. Sherm is quick and efficient, and he knows your cut even if you're not his regular customer (just the attention to detail that all of the barbers have at this shop). Ever since discovering Tailormade back in 2015, I never go anywhere else. We were in a rush for a hair cut and we called in and thankfully Josh was avaliable. Josh was super friendly and personable the entire time during my boyfriends cut, they chit chatted the time away. Josh knew exactly what to do after my boyfriend explained to him "1 here, a 2 here and a 0 over here" LIKE WHAAAT? but apparently the cut was clean and the fade was perfect. Josh has a good eye for hair and usually is booked. Walk ins are always welcome at Tailormade but prefer appointments so that each client gets the best possible service without being rushed or double booked. I actually really love this quaint barbershop. Let me just start off with the physical appearance of the shop itself. The couch? Super comfy. The table that holds magazines? Always neat with updated flyers and magazines. Their mirrors and floors? Always spotless. I love how each station is customized and shows the personality of the barber that owns that space. There's a wall there that's designed so nicely, I didn't have words for when I saw it. But I did end up taking a picture of it and using it as my cell phone's background for awhile. Pricing is neatly, clearly posted above the couch and the poster's placement is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The ambience of this place is soothing. The music is straight up hip-hop, which is perfect for people like myself, who actually really appreciate not being bombarded by other types of music. It's not that I don't like nor appreciate other genres of music, but the feel of this place is really chill and the hip-hop is a nice undertone for the establishment. Now, to clarify, I must admit that I haven't met every single barber or staff member that works here, but the two guys I have met: Chad & Sherman, were super friendly. For time saving purposes, I will be referring to "Sherman" as "Sherm" as that's what people apparently call him. I must confess at the time, I was the only girl in the barbershop but Chad finished 2 cuts while I sat on the couch. Normally, as a girl, I don't find myself in barbershops, so I was prepping myself to be bored out of my mind and for silence to ensue. But Chad & Sherm not only gave really amazing, on-point haircuts, but they also managed to make me feel entertained and comfortable in the establishment. There's actually quite a few talented barbers in the Bay Area, some I am even good friends with, who work in a different barbershop. BUT when it comes to my Significant Other's hair, I don't like to mess around. Let me make this clear: I WILL voice my opinion on my boyfriend's haircuts, this includes but is not limited to: his beard, the thing he calls a mustache and the actual hair on his head. With that being said, hands down, I am ALWAYS pleased when Sherm cuts my man's hair. The attention to detail he displays, his refreshing. Usually, when I see my brother, cousins or homeboy's fresh out of a hair cut, I notice some hairs that are a little longer than the others or 1-2 hairs that are left untouched. But every single time the SO gets a haircut from Sherm, I literally do not find anything wrong. Must be nice to have such a good barber. If only they did women's hair, haha.
