Sad news. My barber, Michael (The elderly barber. Not sure what his Spanish name is.) passed away a few weeks ago at work. Rest in peace Michael. The weird thing is, I just saw him at the end of April. He cut my hair before I went on my Japan trip. He seemed fine. Previously, he was gone for a while because he went back to El Salvador for vacation. Today, the shop was closed at 11am. I had to ask around to see what happened. Well, thank you Michael for all the great haircuts. I will miss the big smile he greets me with when I walk in. He wasn't much of a talker. read more

Got a haircut 2 weeks ago from Luis, and got one today from Abe. I have a bump on the back of my head so I need the fade lower in the back. I am super picky about who I go to because a lot of barbers do not listen and make the fade super high despite showing them photos of what I want. With the wrong barber, the bump shows and I'll end up having to wear a hat for 2 weeks for it to grow. (I've had people touch the bump and go "OMG it's not bone, it's soft" so I know people notice it when I have bad haircuts LOL). I'm new to the area and glad I found this place. Both haircuts have been great experiences and the fades are super clean. I also walked in both times. While they had other customers, the wait both times was less than 10 minutes. read more

My kid has been coming here for years. We've been to others, but the testosterone got to be too much at some of these other barber shops. Great service, friendly, and never a long wait. When I tell you these guys are old masters, believe it. I went in for a haircut looking at the price ($18 in the Bay Area for a standard cut is an ever rare find), but ended up genuinely admiring these guys' attention to their craft. You can recognize that classical barber training you don't much find anymore: delicate and meticulous, hewing more to sheers and scissors, and keeping practices that just serve as really nice touches -- applying a straight razor shave to the edges, using Clubman, and giving a good ole shoulder massage to round things out. I showed Marcelo a picture of my standard cut, and no questions asked he understood the assignment and made it look good doing it. Don't go in there expecting some chic thing with yuppie touches. These guys have obviously been doing this a long time, and defer to that experience. They'll do a good job. Lastly, TIP WELL. You don't need a lecture on small business management, but for the work they do and the prices they do it for, pay it forward. read more

Look for Marcello, the Filipino gentleman. He does your haircut like it's an art masterpiece. He takes his time and it comes out very detailed and clean. He employs the traditional Filipino methods just like back in the Philippines. I definitely found my regular barber! read more
