Everything went pretty well until the appraisal, which was full of errors. I pointed that out to Wells, who indicated they'd "look into it." Wrong square footage, unfit comparable values that were done by an unlicensed trainee appraiser, even had comments about the basement that my house doesn't have-the list goes on from there. You'd think that this would prompt them to at least get a second opinion, right? Wrong!!! It took them nearly 5 months (and two investigations) to come to the conclusion that their appraisal was unassailable, despite the fact that I'd already received a second opinion from another appraiser with another bank that clearly indicated everything I'd said was wrong with the original appraisal was in fact wrong. They followed this up with their customer service recovery personnel trying to tell me that there are things that aren't in my house that are in the second appraisal! Impressive considering the guy has never set foot in my house. If you'd like your loan or refi to go like this, with erroneous home values assigned at nearly 30% less than your home value, then by all means choose Wells Fargo!
